There is a lot to like about the hotel. 1) The staff were extremely accommodating polite and friendly. I can't fault the customer service we received. 2) The location was perfectly centred between the rocks, Circular Quay, and Darling Harbour with an easy walk to all locations. There is also a beautiful park behind the hotel and lovely walks along the harbour. The views to Harbour Bridge were sensational as well. 3) Staying here was an emersive historical experience. We stayed in the room called Surgeon White. It felt like we were timewarped into history. The hotel information in the room gave a great little overview of the history of the building. It is full of historic charm. It did have modern conveniences such as a TV, Bluetooth speaker, fridge, and kettle. 4) Food - The pub downstairs was so quaint. The meals were a good size, great value and there is a good choice of typical pub fare. They were beautifully presentes too! We had two meals there on our 3 night stay. Although we didn't eat at the Henry Deane restaurant and cocktail lounge located on the top two floors, we popped up to see the amazing panoramic views of the harbour, including the bridge. This location would be great for New Years fireworks. The menu and choice of drinks looked good.
There wasn't anything we did not like.

Staff were great. Don't arrive early if you can avoid it, but if you do, staff were helpful with bags. Room was beautiful.. creaky floors added to the character on level 3... really tasteful furnishings. Everything you need for a comfy stay is in the room - really good job at this 👏. Bar downstairs - really cool vibe... enjoy. Upstairs at HD... Gorgeous. Make sure you go! It's beautiful space to sit, have a drink and enjoy the beautiful Sydney views.. stunning. The bed was SUPPPPER comfy!! Best!
We stayed in the Noel Banfield room... beautiful. AND fabulous heavy velvet curtains, which I am a fan of. HOUSEKEEPING please USE them on hot days to ensure guests can sleep by CLOSING THEM. The residual humidity in the bedroom area on our arrival was oppressive and it does not move unless you place the fan in the kitchen area and blow the air conditioning unit air into the bedroom area. Otherwise it CANNOT escape to cool that bedroom area down. Bathroom lovely. I'm an ex- hospitality gal and I loved the vibe here, despite some shortfalls (which EVERY property has..) pls don't be dismayed by these comments 🤩

Loved everything about our stay here. The location, the originality of the place & definitely the staff there. Everyone was so friendly & welcoming. Hotel Palisade way exceeded our expectations. The roof top bar was an added extra bonus for a late night drink with amazing views of the harbour & Bridge.
Not really anything to not like. The only thing I personally would be mindful of for future bookings in really hot weather is no aircon in the smaller rooms. Was not needed during our stay, the open window & fan were enough.

Lovely old pub that has been thoughtfully renovated to respect its heritage and enhance its character and personality. Our room was larger and nicer than it looked in the photos and the view was sensational, stretching from the Harbour Bridge right round to White Bay. Glorious to wake up to. The bathroom was compact but perfectly fine, the bed comfortable and the area was surprisingly quiet overnight. The espresso machine was a welcome touch, having a lift was a bonus, and we appreciated being able to leave our luggage in the office for the day after checking out. Dinner upstairs at Henry Deane (with its seriously stunning views) was enjoyable too. We hadn't been to the Palisade for decades, so it was nice to revisit the old girl and see her looking so well.
Being a heritage building, there are certain restrictions on climate control in the rooms unfortunately. Not the hotel's fault. Ours had a portable air conditioner (apparently the smaller rooms do not) but it did struggle a little in the hot and humid Sydney weather and there was a bit of a musty smell in the room. Thankfully, we could open the windows and sleep with a coolish breeze blowing in off the harbour overnight, which helped to alleviate the problem. Probably not so much of an issue in cooler or more temperate months.

Central location, very quaint historic hotel with rooms that have been updated but retain the historic charm. Very comfortable beds. We rented two rooms, and my sister had the larger one with ac. Ours didn't have ac, but it was very comfortable with the windows open and ceiling fan. Awesome balcony connecting the rooms. Had wine at night overlooking the Sydney skyline. Right next to the Bangaroo Reserve, so great morning walk. We ate a fabulous dinner in the pub downstairs. Highly recommend.
The outside of the building needs some refreshing.

Location...great views, outside drinking area, more adult setting. Room : standard, but plenty of room Cleanliness : could not fault 2 restaurants : Public Bar for drinks and meals eg hamburgers, schnitzels. Roof top restaurant with amazing 360° views of Sydney Harbour. Food quite expensive and too many ingredients. I couldn't really taste my expensive pink snapper as the herbs masked the taste! Easy going but helpful staff
Despite the age of the building or because of it, the creaky floor boards to the folded piece of cardboard to stop the window rattling was a bit annoying. The bed was very low for me. Due to the absence of an 'official ' reception area,it was difficult to find the duty manager for information.

My husband and I spent a night in the Regi James Suite for our anniversary. Such great value for money ! The suite was so comfortable and tastefully decorated in a nautical theme. The bathroom was gorgeous with beautiful tiles. The suite had a large balcony with multiple seatings and a fabulous view to the Harbour Bridge and North Sydney. There was a sitting area inside with a well stocked mini fridge and a range of complimentary teas and pod coffees. There was even a Marshall sound system and a tv. The curtains and blinds blocked out any noise and light for a great night’s sleep. Very comfortable bed and a surprisingly quiet area of town. The location in Millers Point was brilliant- a 10 minute walk to either The Rocks or Barangaroo. The hotel amenities are also excellent. The cocktail bar on the rooftop is now covered and has stunning 360 degree views. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back !
This is an old hotel - the walls are paper thin so you can hear the guests next door and the creaking floorboards. We were lucky to have our balcony to ourselves but the guests next door also share the same balcony. There are plants and lattice separating the two balconies but it’s not private enough.

Loved the vibe, aesthetic and charm of the property. The size of the room was very generous. and size of the room. Amenities were ample. Location was fabulous and a great view of the bridge. Excellent value for money in Sydney city surrounds.
Bathroom was a little pokey which didn’t make it enjoyable. It was quite warm on our stay and the fact that the bedroom did not have windows and only the living space did was a little annoying. The pillows on the bed were also super uncomfortable and made for a restless night sleep. Though the second night was a little easier. One of the fans was not working and luckily the bedroom fan was.

Good position if off cruising..A one off experience.. eclectic..the lovely girl from Boston USA who was behind the bar..working her butt off..
They only have 8 rooms yet you still cant check in till 3 pm even though had asked for 2pm if my flight was earlier..and was told yes..the floor boards creak loudly in room and hallway..every where you step..the bathroom was the smallest one ever..tastefully done though..the room was really only big enough for one...the pub food was lovely..

We loved the heritage decor of room. The bed was super comfortable? We really loved the open air balcony with exceptional views of the Harbour Bridge, Luna Park and Berry Bay. We loved that we could lounge on the balcony to enjoy the views. The proximity to Barangaroo’s Metro Station meant easy transport. We loved that the hotel was in close proximity to both Darling Harbour & the Rocks which allowed us to explore these areas on foot and find a vast choice of eateries. It was quiet so we slept well. We will definitely stay here again!
