This was one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. From spacious rooms, very sturdy beds, great bathroom in the room itself and kind staff. The view from the terrace is also phenomenal. From all of the YHA hostels I’ve stayed at this is the best one by far. They have lots of taco and bbq nights (and the tacos were so delicious I’m still thinking about them and for only A$5). I cannot recommend this hostel enough. The location is also great, just 5min from the Circular Quay (but there are lots of steps). Also a tip: if you’re coming with the tram from the airport, maps will tell you to get off at the Circular Quay station - don’t because you will have to carry your luggage up a lot of stairs, go to the next stop with is Wynyard as the walk is the same length just with no stairs.

- Close proximity to CBD, most things are walking distance. - Building is easy to locate. - Friendly and helpful staff. - Awesome lounge/dining/kitchen facilities with all you need kitchen equipment, lots of charging ports in lounge and dining area. - Roof top bar and seating area with wicked views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and CBD. - Lots of history on site with artifacts and scenery to check out. - Pretty quiet (a little bit of street and hallway noise but it never woke me). - Shared doom had charging port by the bed and also a locker which could be locked if you brought your own lock, locker also had a power point inside. - Linen provided. - All common areas were cleaned and tidy all of the time I was there. - Continental breakfast for $14AUD gave you everything you needed and served from 7am till 10am.
- I was sharing with 3 other girls who all checked in and out and different times. I'm unsure when and how they manage the cleaning of the bathrooms but I was there for 4 days and never saw it be cleaned and it looked like it hadn't been done recently before I arrived. - The bathroom standards weren't very good in general, build up of mold in the shower and on the roof. Dust and hair in harder to reach areas of the bathroom. - Had to ask for toilet paper as we ran out the first day I was there (holds 4 rolls) so this maybe a reflection of how often the bathroom gets cleaned. - One bath mat between 4 people gets very wet and dirty when it's not very clean.

The open concept kitchen It's so great . We can buy our own food and cook. Hotel is Convenient . Just few mins to the cruise terminal , tram..
If we to walk to the hotel , it's quite tough. We have to carry our luggages and walked up quite a few stairs up.. The kitchen is great , But I hope travellers whom use the kitchen, able to clean up the cooker hob, wash up the utensils for others to use. The aircon will be off once we leave our room. And we have to always went to the reception to ask to on the aircon back .

Incredible location, really good communal facilities everywhere. The rooms were the most basic/ dated part but totallt functional. Friendly staff, easy around things, super helpful.
Our 6 dorm we were told there were only 3 of us for the first night, then at 1am a group of 3 very loud and inconsiderate women arrived and rather than trying their best to not disturb went out of their way to be loud and almost declare their arrival. They took over every corner of floor space and had zero care for anyone else, were noisey late at night. (This is at not fault of the YHA - but perhaps direct guidance given to guests arriving so late!)

Lovely hostel with great location and views. Nice communal areas to hang out in and good customer service
I was in a 6 bed dorm as per my booking, but the other 5 people were part of the same group which made for an unpleasant experience for me because they took over the room, were not considerate about making noise after 10pm, came back early hours of the morning talking amongst themselves and woke me up, I didn't sleep well. It also stank in the room even though the other guests hadn't been there for that long Inconsiderate guests, but not the fault of YHA. Although, if the booking was made for 5, it would have been better for them to have the whole of the 6 bed dorm but I understand that the YHA will want to fill beds from a business point of view. Bathroom was spacious (en suite) but hardly any shelf space to put things. I have fed this all back the the hostel straight after my stay.

Great friendly staff, very clean amenities. Comfy beds. Fitted our large family well. Great location near the Rocks. just remember its a pretty steep location (The Rocks) so be prepared for hills if you don't walk the 'long way ' :)

A fantastic hostel in a stunning location with friendly and welcoming staff. Spacious, bright, beautifully designed. Kitchen very well thought out, with ample room for storing own food in fridges and cubby holes. Extra interest provided by archaeological dig in the basement. Brilliant roof terrace. A fraction of the price of adjacent hotels with identical prime position and views of opera house.
Sinks in communal kitchen were often full of washing up and/or lots of bits of food, but this is the fault of other residents not properly clearing up after themselves. Might help to provide a container beside each sink clearly marked for leftover food to be scraped into from plates, as some people are not putting it into the organic waste bin and it is then clogging up the sinks.

The property was close to every thing, the rooftop dining and being family friendly was what sold it for me. The hot water and water pressure in the shower was the best. When we left in the mornings there were cute little rainbow reflections on the wall of the void near the ceiling.
The only down side was the limited towels travelling with a kid is not a one towel each situation 😂 no bar fridge in the room was also a bit of a pain but for two days we made it work.

Location is perfect, view of opera house and Harbour Bridge if there is no cruise ship blocking it. The common areas and the room were clean, bed was comfortable and you had privacy thanks to the curtains. The bathroom is quite spacious and clean. When I got there the drain was blocked but got fixed as soon as I asked at the reception . The room (4b female) was spacious but lacking some more space to put things, such as shelves or hooks, there’s plenty of room on walls and ground. It’s A bit noisy from the upstairs room, you could hear them walking around and even the beds were let’s say “reacting”. Not really shaking but still you could feel it in bed. The staff were really friendly and helpful, but I had expected some more information upon arrival on how things work there, about events or whatever. If you ask you’ll get all the info you need, but usually when you’re new somewhere you should be introduced at least to the facilities. In my opinion the breakfast is overpriced, it’s cheaper buying your own.
See above. Nothing to really not like, just some ideas for improvement 😊

Fabulous location, clean rooms and great facilities. The rooftop terrace is awesome - views across the harbor and a great spot to relax and catch the breeze. We also enjoyed the rooftop BBQ dinner put on by the staff. Kitchen is well stocked with any necessary equipment and clean, as were all the shared spaces. Considering the location, this was well priced for all the added amenities.
We had one of the private rooms on level 3, looking onto the rooftop terrace - awesome location for views but it was a little noisier in the evenings due to the popularity of the terrace. Noise was minimal after 9:30pm but just be mindful of this if you are travelling with small children who go to bed earlier than this - while the rooms are reasonably well sound-proofed for low noise (we never heard anything from the next door rooms), the music and general noise from the terrace and people walking along the corridors was certainly audible. Other than this - definitely no complaints!
