The Rydges Hobart is an older style building but the rooms feel very homey and modern at the same time. I loved the black and white retro bathroom floor tiling. The price is very affordable for what is offered here. Staff here were very approachable and kind! The location was great and about a 10 minute drive from any restaurants or sites that we wanted to visit in Hobart city. There are plenty of parking spaces.
- When we first arrived the only way to the front reception was up a flight of stairs and the only other way in for guests was through the back entrance but you need a key card. My friend and I ended up carrying our 20kg suitcases up. After checking in we were able to use the key card to access the back of the building (with no stairs). - The on-site restaurant menu was quite pricey and the food was only okay for me.

We love the location, super convenient to Hobart centre. Free EV charge port and the reception staff was professional and welcoming.
We booked with complementary breakfast, bread was stale and fruit salad was not fresh. The only waiter wasn’t so nice or friendly. We asked for GF bread and never came, didn’t offer there is high chair for our baby. He probably hates his job, won’t even greet to you at all. He did have smiles with his colleagues just not us. Until weekends, the additional waiter/ waitress was very nice and helpful, we didn’t know there is kids high chair and she/he brought in GF bread.

The room was delightful. Loved having the lounge area to sit and relax. Bathroom was clean and roomy and appreciated the quality of the toiletries. King bed was very comfortable.
Wasn't anything I didn't like. I do want to add that Hobart being such an old city, knowing and appreciating the history of the building would be good recognised. It would have been interesting to know the history of the building without having to search the web. I did ask and was given a sheet on the building, so understand it was the former institute for the blind, deaf and dumb. Having that information available in the foyer or in the 'About' area on the web, as well as other the tool used to teach braille etc is an important reminder for all. Plus shows how as a society we are doing many (I hope) things better for those who may not be as fortunate as us, particularly in the past. Otherwise, I will certainly recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in Hobart.

Good sized suite, free parking, quiet, in-house dining and bar, historic building, nice grounds.
Cleaning needs improvement, kitchenette was very poorly equipped (not enough equipment to even slice and toast bread or heat anything in the microwave). No lift, but to be expected in historic building. Had to ask for a toaster and a hand towel as none in room. No reverse cycle aircon. Fridge was just a bar fridge with no freezer compartment and was full of items for sale so no room for our own items. Kitchen sink was tiny and stained.

Lovely old building, with character and atmosphere. I liked the view from my room, looking over the North Hobart football oval and towards the city. The bed was comfortable, and the service friendly and welcoming. Decent breakfast included in the price.
The pillows! All four were very fat and 'unyielding' (i.e. very firm). I had to sleep without a pillow altogether, so I didn't feel very rested in the morning. Also, it is a shame that the restaurant is not open on Sunday evening (and Monday, I think), but I guess it is a question of staffing and economics.

The room was always clean and items topped up each day (bathroom, tea/coffee etc), our view over the cricket ground and the city to the sea was perfect. The staff were always super helpful and friendly. Although we didn’t get to use the pool due to the shortness of our visit it was cleaned each day and very inviting..it took about 20 minutes to walk into town and thankfully it was all downhill! The breakfast was perfectly cooked, plentiful and varied and the chef would come in with refills and have a chat each morning. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
Our only small gripe would be our bed. It was not uncomfortable but seemed to be made up of two separate mattresses, one single and one double and where they met the edges were noticeable! It made for a super sized bed though!

The bed was very comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the building. The food for breakfast was very tasty and fresh. The room cost more than I would usually pay, (although still reasonable) but due to booking mix-up at another hotel I was left without a room, so I was very appreciative that they accommodated an early check in of 12.30pm, as it made things so much easier for me. Much appreciated!
I couldn't find an itinerary in the room. Room service was available to order via phone, but I had no idea what was available and at what price. I did receive a map after check in, but the writing was very small so I had no idea where some amenities were.

Good location. Beautiful historical building with lovely character. Great bathroom, nice and clean and shampoo, conditioner and body wash were really nice.
Warmer bedding needed, additional blankets would have been good, we were quite cold and needed to sleep with heater on. Only had the thinnest, very worn out doona and a sheet. Pillows were quite uncomfortable. Kitchenette super basic. A sharp knife and chopping board and decent coffee mugs would have made it more traveller friendly.

I’ve stayed at Rydges Hobart quite a few times due to it’s unbeatable location. I love North Hobart and the various cafes, restaurants and shops so the Rydges is perfect for that. The rooms are huge and comfortable, there’s also a good restaurant on site which is handy if you get in late. The staff are very friendly.
This time around, I found the mattress slightly uncomfortable- too soft and a little lumpy. I haven’t noticed this before so might just be bad luck.

Easy to find Seamless check in Large room with lounge area So clean Comfortable beds Staff were amazing Huge bathroom Every single thing worked Has breakfast, dinner and a bar on site. Had microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery, basic starter supplies like tea, coffee, milk etc. Loved having park benches to sit outside and have a coffee Really enjoyed our stay!
Wish there was a tv in the lounge area instead of the bedroom area. Needs a rubbish bin other than just the one in the bathroom
