The Red Feather Inn is a stunning venue. The rooms are cutely decorated and comfortable, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food in the boutique restaurant was sensational. The in-room breakfast was filling, nutritious and delicious. We didn't want to leave! We spent New Year here and would love to visit again. The perfect end to our Tassie holiday.

The only downside was that a group of walkers, preparing to set off on their multi-day hike, got up at 6 am and were chatting outside our bedroom window until 8 am on our first morning - so if you are not getting up for one of the walking trips be prepared for that!

Red Feather was lovingly restored some years ago in a French country style, with great attention to detail. It has subsequently been sold to Tasmanian Walking Co. With the change of hands little has changed (which is good) although there are a few more people generally around heading of to treks etc which means a little noisier in the morning. However it is a really gorgeous venue and the room ('the loft') is lovely. The continental breakfast provided was quite nice, but noted that with the change of hands there has been a shift from homemade preserves to single serve packet jams - that was a bit sad! The restaurant is very quaint, but unfortunately not the same standard that it used to be (which was exceptional - with the head chef souring and growing most of the ingredients, including a thriving cottage garden and orchard that was on the property but has now gone to seed and clearly not a source of the restaurant ingredients)

Its a gorgeous group of buildings. However the price tag is quite steep and didn't consider price charged by restaurant commensurate with the quality of the food.

The history of the place, the themed rooms. Stayed in the Library Suite, which had a seperate seating area. Bed was comfy, bathroom was amazing. Loved the old sash window in the kitchen area. The complimentary breakfast supplied was excellent (although no butter was left for our toast)

The internet was awful if you were travelling for work and needed it. We only used it for social networking, on asking about the internet we were told the walls to the Inn are so thick you can’t get a good signal.

Beautiful building and garden settings.stylish large 2 storey rooms. Breakfast self serve in room fridge ideal. The restaurant was excellent one of the best meals on our 2 week trip!

Stairs to bedroom steep. Difficult to get suitcases upstairs so we kept downstairs In bathroom ( it was very large) Staff not available At receptionist all day Used by walking tours could be a bit noisy in the morning getting their prep talk /packing outside room. May be a concern if you like a sleep in

We stayed in Murphetts Lodge and it was a perfect size for a family of 4 adults. It was completely self contained with a fabulous continental breakfast available each morning. Unfortunately restaurant not available for our first night stay but it is such a gorgeous, intimate spot, we would definitely want to try it next visit.

Only complaint was the bathroom near the laundry lacked space for toiletries and the cupboard above the small basin jutted out too far to be able to adequately use the basin without bumping ones head. The two leather chairs in lounge area could also be replaced with another sofa or more comfortable lounge chairs.

Rooms were full of character and bathrooms exceptional. The Library suite which we stayed in on our second visit was large and beautifully appointed. The Loft was more compact and if you had a problem with stairs up and down to the bathroom it may have been difficult - we didn't but no-one asked. Breakfast in fridge was great and more than adequate. Garden setting is lovely.

Set price menu in the restaurant not always suitable when you just want a small meal and no other eating places nearby. Location suited us because we were embarking on a walk with Tas. Walking Co. but otherwise is too far out of the town. A laundry on the premises would be appreciated by walkers returning with hiking gear.

Our breakfast was cereal, yoghurt , toast and Banana bread - all in the fridge in the Attic where we stayed - it was all lovely and just what we needed. There was also tea & coffee. Very easy and appreciated.

The location was a way from Launceston, and was closer to a few rural areas - it was an amazing place and full of heritage and history. A lovely walk along the river and lots of garden to explore.

We stayed in The Library Suite, the best bed we have slept in for a while. We were greeted by Debbie a lovely bubbly lady, most helpful and friendly. We had the 3 course set menu on our last evening, could not fault a thing it was delicious. Stunning Historical buildings.

Beautiful property, it was just the location that let it down a bit, not that it can be helped as the property was there long before anything else. However on the plus side, it is a good base for wandering to Launceston/Evandale etc...glad we stayed.

Amazing lovely little cottage style stay. I stayed in the attic King room with my Mum and we loved every fine, small detail in the bedroom. The large bathroom was pristine, sandstone tiling behind the bath really made my hot bath a decadent treat. Breakfast served in the room was very neatly presented and tasted great. Kind and friendly staff who made up the room each day and replenished breakfast items. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would come back again to stay in a different room. I only wish the attic king room had a view of the lovely garden!

The style of the whole property. The heritage. The upstairs area. Warm and cosy on a cold evening.

That it seems that the restaurant adjoined the downstairs living area and we could hear conversations through the adjoining but locked door. We spent our time upstairs due to this and felt we couldn’t have a conversation with each other down stairs. We actually hate the whole doona between two sheets thing with all places. Not sure how hygienic this concept is. We always have to pull it off and remake the beds.
