Proximity to the Princess Theatre meant walking to the venue easily.

Little things annoyed me this visit. No face washers in the bathroom, 2 lots of shampoo/conditioner bottles in the shower and no body wash/soap. Disappointing that rooms are not serviced daily unless you request it … this is new since our last visit and for what we pay a night, I feel it is very wrong. Cleaning service should be done daily unless you request it not to happen. I was also annoyed at the cleaning staff talking so loudly at 7.15am that woke me. When I was trained in house keeping we were told to keep voices down so as to not disturb guests. Very annoying.

We drove our rental car up to Launceston from Sandy Bay to track down some family graves at Carr Villa Memorial Park and get a sense of the place where my relatives first settled when they arrived in Tasmania from England back in 1885. We visited the cemetery before we drove on into town. The Best Western Plus has a convenient parking lot which doesn't cost a lot extra per night (and we only had to pay for one night), and the room was of a good size with among the most comfortable mattresses we've encountered in, by now, four and a half weeks of travel. We are hardy walkers and had no trouble getting to the Queen Victoria Art Gallery and from there on to the 65-million-year-old rock formations of Cataract Gorge and the Cataract Trail, with its stunning views of the South Esk river, followed by a stroll through nostalgic turn-of-the-century buildings, peacocks and wallabies less than six feet away from us and a thrilling ride on the world's longest single-span chairlift. The next day, we checked out of the hotel and visited the Queen Victoria Museum before wending our way down the East Coast of Tasmania back to Sandy Bay and our wonderful relatives. We can highly recommend the Best Western Plus.

I can't give an opinion of dinner or breakfast at the Best Western Plus, as we had made a reservation at Stillwater, a terrific dining experience, for dinner some time in advance and decided to eat close to the Queen Victoria Museum the next morning and head for the East Coast as soon as we had finished our museum visit. But everything we did experience at the Best Western Plus, we enjoyed a lot!

What a hidden gem! We booked just for the one night, we had been travelling the north west and came down from Beaconsfield in the afternoon. Reception were very helpful and friendly. Parking was easy, it was just next door at a discounted rate of $6, you can park out the front of the hotel and drop off bags then go park the car, when leaving you can park at the back door and get your bags in the car from the lifts. So don't be put off by parking offsite, it's actually not what i would consider offsite. The room was big and spacious, plenty of room in the bathroom, with nice hot water and good water pressure. The TV was massive! We had a lounge to sit on instead of sitting on the bed to watch TV and we ate in the restaurant downstairs with the tram in the restaurant, how quirky! The drinks and food were reasonably priced and good value and it was great that after travelling all day we didn't have to go out of the hotel for food. The bed was very comfortable, the heating was cosy and appreciated as the weather had turned bad with wind and rain, but we felt very safe and secure in the hotel. The hotel is easy to find and is right in the middle of the CBD so lots of shops and restaurants are close by, so is the Cataract Gorge and City Park. Thanks again, we will be back for another stay if we are ever in Launceston.

Nothing, everyone was great.

Great location and lovely staff. The meal we had in the "Tram" restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. The location of the property is brilliant. An easy 10 -15 minute walk to the Cataract Gorge (a must do if visiting Launceston), an easy walk to three lovely parks and a "stones throw" from a number of great eateries, e.g. La Cantina - authentic Italian cuisine - Bellissimo! And M&B Cafe and Smoothie Bar - great coffee and delicious brekkies. And, because the Motel is tucked up a side street, it is quiet.... perfect for a good night's sleep after traipsing all over the Gorge.

Great location, good food and friendly staff members.

The cleaning rule is confusing - we found a notice in our room, which says free room cleaning service is available upon request by certain time. So I have assumed no one would come to my room for cleaning if I don't request the service, so I could get extra sleep in the morning after a late check in. But the cleaner did come in the room when I said I don't need cleaning service. So the sleep was disturbed. I'd suggest the hotel provides a "Don't disturb" sign or follow the process stated in the information provided to the guests, who don't want to get woken up in the morning.

From the moment I stepped through the doors, everything was perfect. The assistance from reception was fantastic, the lady was thorough and very kind in doing so. There was quite a queue of people. What's not to like.... it's the perfect location, my next mattress will be the same as the one I slept on here. I will have to go back to stay because I forgot to get the name. The clincher was the towels. Every place I stay it seems there is no attention to the towels. Stay here for the towels alone 😆 we ordered food from the train restaurant. So very good. You should not be disappointed if you stay here.

Location is always helpful as it’s right in the city

Parking is a nightmare as there’s only limited spots which you have to pay for, however they allow for u to park right outside the front door to the hotel if it’s full, which was the case when we got there Each side of the bed needs access to a wall plug, it does have wireless phone charging in the lamps but limited options if you need to plug a cpap machine in (would only be a problem if two people needed a machine to sleep with)

Room is clean, comfortable and spacious, although it’s dated. There’s tea making facilities. The hotel is very near to a number of restaurants and shopping district. 2 chinese and a Thai restaurants are within 2 minutes walk from the hotel. All serving great authentic food especially the Thai restaurant. Car park is behind the hotel and is very easy for loading and unloading luggage.

Kitchen equipment such as food warmer, coffee machine and bread toaster seems lack regular maintenance. Staffs seemed short handed in the restaurant and reception. Nevertheless diners are all very patience which is something delightful to observe. Taking shower in the bathtub.

The bed was fantastic. We had stayed a few years ago, and it was the same. Best nights sleep. Breakfast, especially the Farmers breakfast was really good value. Enough for 2 people.

Bathrooms are a bit dated. Showers over baths are outdated now. Makes it difficult for elderly people who have mobility issues so be aware of that if booking. No flannel, so take your own if you need one. Get in early if you want parking. Parking is a premium, as it is also a public car park.

Location, Location in the central part and was close to walk everywhere. Parking was $6 per night the restaurant had good food and same for breakfast and was comparable to restaurants in the area there was a lot to choose from. The room was not dated in feel and was able to open a window for fresh air and look over the city on level 4. The bath has a stand in shower and felt narrow with a curtain pulled across and the shower head had lots of water flow to land on the floor. The Tv had Netflix as well, if you need a fix for your shows. There was a big King bed however felt firm is the only marked down for the stay. I would return again to this abode.

A Comfier King Bed A program for environmental house keeping. By not needing room service, i would receive a free drink at the bar for each day i did not need my room cleaned / serviced.
