Beautiful old building. Our room was spacious and plenty of storage. Breakfast consisted of Continental and cooked, it was absolutely gorgeous and a lovely surprise. Quiet location. Penelope was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

The only negative would be where the TV was positioned. The two dining chairs directly in front of it were not comfy to sit in for too long. Watching it from the bed gave us a crook neck. Not a major problem though.

Honestly a pleasure to be able to stay here. Penelope and David are absolutely wonderful hosts. We have stayed here twice now with our 2 young girls 6 and 7 and we have always been welcomed with open arms. The rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious. The gardens are a lovely place. The beautiful dogs are my children’s highlight they absolutely love to be able to have a pat of the dogs.

The 2 nights go way too fast!!!

Rooms were tidy, clean and quiet with Sheridan towels in the bathroom. Although we prefer a firmer bed then the soft mattress we slept on, we ended up having a restful sleep and had no body soreness when we awoke. The provided breakfast served by Penelope (the owner) exceeded our expectations. We started off with cereal, warmed fruits and yoghurt. Also, sliced sourdough, fruit bread, coffee & tea were on the counter (with a toaster) and a carafe of orange juice and berry jam were on our table. Next, we were served freshly made scrambled eggs with feta on sourdough with baby English spinach leaves and beetroot relish on the side - it was delicious. As for the location, it is a small town, so everything is close by. What is handy is that the pub is within working distance allowing one to enjoy a drink (or two) with their pub meal.

The full breakfast prepared by Penelope was very good with Scrambled Eggs with Feta. I had GF cereal with rubarb and apple then afterwards, GF raison toast with my cup of tea.

The floor boards creaked and one section springy. The bed rocked when the other person got in and out. The doona was very warm for a cold night. It was in a handy location close to shops and the Bush inn where we ate dinner.

Lovely interesting historic building, very cool. Our room was comfortable, clean, with ensuite and a kitchenette. Penelope the owner and host was delightful! Friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Excellent value with generous breakfast included and gluten free requirement was no problem either. Excellent budget option! 👍

Nothing to complain about! It's a very old building with creaks and some quirkiness but that was part of the charm for us.

We booked this room for my 88 year old father to stay on his holiday from QLD as we are in the middle of renovating. Penelope was absolutely amazing as a hostess. His mobility is not great so she brought him breakfast in his room every morning and they were as incredible as all the reviews stay. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. He had a lovely stay and I am. so grateful to Penelope for caring for him as she did.

I liked everything.

On arrival you think you've made a mistake as renovations are going on and the outsides a bit messy but the inside is lovely and quaint and decorated excellent. The hostess Penelope is warm and friendly and the breakfast is excellent. The beds are comfortable and the room we had was very spacious. It's an easy walk to the The Bush Inn which served us a wonderful meal. Loved our stay there and would highly recommend a visit.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Colony Inn. Penelope was a great host, providing us with a delicious breakfast. Our room was clean and inviting. Would definitely come back again.

The only part that I could comment on was that in summer time the bedding was a little too hot as it appeared to be a warm duvet.

This was our first time staying at The Old Colony Inn. Lovely, historic property and warmly welcomed by our hosts and their lovely dogs. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was very filling and the woodfire was a lovely touch. As mentioned, being historic, it has its creaks and other noises during the windy night we experienced. It adds to the charm of the property.

There was no aspect of our stay that we did not like.

The Old Colony Inn is an absolute treat. The renovated rooms are situated in parts of the original barn area. Our hostess was just wonderful and any request was immediately taken care of. New Norfolk is such a historic town and this accommodation is so well appointed that its worth visiting for a weekend retreat. We loved the soft bed, the bathroom and all that the room had to offer, plus a sumptuous breakfast included in the price. First class accommodation, we will visit again!
