The property and furniture are quite old, but everything functions well. The room was very comfortable and we can also use the facilities and lounge and dining room. What impressed me most was the friendliness of Jeff and Julie. Instead of staying at a hotel, it was like we were staying at grandparents' house. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk to the CBD. Around the hotel, there are also many restaurants from various foreign countries.

There is no air conditioner, but it was not a big problem since we mostly going outside at noon. For the night, they provide heater and electric blanket.

We only had a basic continental breakfast which was OK. The hosts were very friendly, and we enjoyed the tea and port in the sitting room. Our room was not spacious, but well appointed for the size. The period decor throughout provided the desired atmosphere.

There were 17 steps to our room -- I asked for a ground floor room, was told that they all were ground floor, and yes, there is no second floor, so technically true, but we managed the steps. We had to park in the street, which was a concern. We had a permit to park notice for our windscreen, and didn't need to go anywhere, so it worked OK.

Jeff was very welcoming on arrival. He was friendly and helpful. The room was really well equipped with tea making facility and a lovely comfy bed. The sitting room was very special. We were able to relax in this lovely room with a glass of port, provided on the table, and peruse the magazines taking us back to the 50s and 60s. I would have no hesitation in recommending

Nothing springs to mind

Jeff and his wife own a stunning lodge and are extremely welcoming hosts. Beautiful room with a spa bath was the perfect way to indulge in the Hobart winter. A perfect location, only 20 minute walk to the centre of Hobart and countless restaurants surrounding. My partner and I cannot recommend this place enough!! We will definitely be back.

I enjoyed the heritage feel of the property and the calm, quiet atmosphere. My room was lovely and I appreciated being upgraded from the ‘little’ room (although that would have been fine). The hosts were very friendly and helpful and I will certainly book there again if I make a return trip. I was also glad to find residence parking alongside the hotel (I may have missed that information in my original booking). Thank you! Jill

The cottage is set in a little garden. There was a guest lounge. There were some breakfast cafes nearby but due to COVID the Lodge only had a simple continental breakfast. It was close to some good walking distance restaurants, e.g. Amici & Fusion 285. The State cinema which has many theatres isn't far. There was a spa bath (although I didn't try it.) The kitchenette was well appointed with a stove, dishwasher, cutlery & crockery. The heater heated both downstairs & upstairs. For those who drink there was a bottle of port & a complimentary bottle of brut. There was a second TV up in the bedroom. The decor was rustic as expected of a convict built cottage. There was plenty of storage space. The cottage had its own little garden & patio with table & chairs reached off the upper loft (i.e. bedroom).

The bedroom was in the loft, reached by stairs. I was disinclined to carry/drag my suitcase upstairs. I left it below under the stairs. I don't recommend this place as I hit my head up under the staircase while rummaging through my suitcase! The front entrance of the Lodge to the Elizabeth street is reached by a steep flight of steps. There is a side entrance on Warwick street (for which you can obtain a parking permit). Once you have your keys you can enter that way & it has its own shorter flight of stairs.

It was a last minute booking and yet the owner warmly welcomed us. We stayed at a spa room and the bathtub was big and clean, and I really liked the high ceilings. I have to mention, they had make-up removers as amenities and I was surprised cause you don't find them very often in Australia. The electric blankets really helped us at night. The garden and the lobby were pretty too. Parking was easy for us since it was on weekends but it might be hard on weekdays. We used rental scooters to get to the Salamanca market for fun, it took us about 25 mins. We really enjoyed our stay!

It's a boutique building so walls are pretty thin.

The accomodation was lovely. Well positioned for great food and away from the hustle and bustle of Hobart harbour. The rooms were well fitted however a bit stuffy as we could not open any windows - there was a fan (not a celing fan) The lounge room was warm and accomodating, complementary coffee and tea and Port if you will! Lovely

Then room was stuffy, we had to use the fan. The bathroom was tiny! But well appointed.

We loved this quirky hotel. There were so many touches that made this boutique hotel exceptional. From Fred at the front desk to all the antique furniture, vintage magazines and evening port in the lounge. The room was decorated with antique decor and very spacious. The location was perfect set amongst so many restaurants and an easy walk to the waterfront and markets. Parking available too!

Great stay.

We would definitely stay at the Lodge again. Very friendly staff who will show you around including the peaceful garden where you can relax or the large lounge where you can read or play games, which is in addition to the dining area. Also told about the location and distances to restaurants etc without asking. The beds were very comfy and the parking permits they provided worked well.
