We saw a play at the comedy theatre so it was nice and close. The Windors 'old world' charm is beautiful as you step through the front door and continued to the bedroom. The bedroom was large and very accommodating. With 2 sets of windows, one over the other, it made an effective barrier to street sound. You could also open the windows which was a plus to me as I like fresh air. Plenty of pillows to choose from and a comfy mattress. The staff were lovely.

There was nothing I could fault. We did not eat here, but I have previously and it was good fare.

I loved the Foxtel TV, which meant I could listen to ABC Classic radio, keep up with the cricket and watch footy replays if I wanted. I also love the wonderful amount of drawer and hanging space, as well as the huge bed and comfy armchair. The concierge was helpful, the air-conditioning was effective, and the house-keeping was exemplary. My favourite thing about the Windsor is being able to walk up and down the wide carpeted stairs and hallways. As well, breakfast was very yummy, with most of the staff very focused.

I would prefer a stand-alone shower, rather than one over the bath, and my room lacked a small table to put beside my armchair. Not the end of the world, but would have been appreciated.

Great location - short walk to CBD and a 1 minute walk to tram. Staff were exceptional and very friendly, they really added to the ‘5 Star’ feel of the hotel. Loved the old world charm of the hotel and the way it’s held onto the theme/look of its history. Despite being in the CBD and on a fairly busy road, the room was practically silent - amazing!

Room was a little dated in terms of paint finishes. Obviously doesn’t impact your ability to sleep in the room, but took a little gloss off the expense of the room rate. The 2 bedroom suite couldn’t fit the rollaway bed in the 2nd bedroom, despite being listed as sleeping up to 4 adults, so one of our kids slept in the lounge room meaning we had to sneak around after bedtime. The king bed in the main bedroom was quite uncomfortable by the 4th night of our 5 night stay and the pillows were terrible, though we never thought to try others from the ‘pillow menu’.

The property was stunning, still captured in the oldness of the hotel yet rooms weren’t stuck in time, the rooms where useable and comfortable the property was close to main tram routes on collins and Bourke street with a pub and breakfast facilities downstairs (we did not use these but it was nice and close) after a little google it was said that the hotel is said to be haunted which is fun and had posters of distinguished guests who had stayed there.

The shower pressure was great but it flew out of the sides of the shower even with a screen, and the bathtub and faucets were a little old and outdated I wish the tub was bigger. The pillows were huge and hard to sleep with very soft and you sunk into them. The mattress moved easily off the bedframe and we found to be pushing it up each morning so pillows weren’t falling down

We had the best experience at The Windsor Hotel. The service was excellent, the staff courteous and the breakfast refined. The Concierge, Eduardo, made all the perfect suggestions and arrangements for us to experience the best of Melbourne and it's surroundings. Be it booking tickets for Miss Saigon, getting on the #35 Free City Tram to hop on and off around town, book a rental car to visit the Healesville Animal Sanctuary and the Yarra Wine Country, or getting picked up at the hotel by the Go West Bus for an amazing ride on The Great Coast Road - Eduardo is your man at The Windsor Hotel! Thank you.

We had a lovely junior suite on the first floor overlooking Bourke street. This is a great size room for a stay of a few days. The bed was a king size quite firm . It was not the most comfortable of beds I have slept in. The room was clean and well maintained throughout our stay.

This is an old hotel but it claims a five star standard and it is starting to feel neglected - the grubscrews on both taps are loose and taps fall off in the shower. There is no shower hose just a shower rose. You are standing in the bath which needs care to negotiate. The televisions are old and relatively small. The crockery has odd size cups.

Lovely historic grand hotel! Touring around the hotel was wonderful. The “museum“ of artifacts was amazing. The bed and room were both comfortable. The towels were big bath sheets, LOVE that! The A/C worked adequately.

The check-in wait was obnoxious. I waited 30 minutes and then when it was my turn the desk clerk realized he made an error with the keys for the previous customer so I waited some more. When another desk clerk came to help, she refused to help me and waited on the person behind me. I said something and she snapped at me saying the original desk clerk was helping me. I told her he was still working on the customer in front of me. She mumbled something under her breath and kept helping the customer behind me. NOT a very welcoming approach to customer service! The only thing that is saving my opinion of the hotel is a tour of the features of the hotel from the night manager, Dirk.

This is a fine old hotel and have stayed there a few times over many years. But it has it's issues. Restaurant is excellent. Best part of town. Good car parking options. Local restaurants.

The bathrooms are in need of renovation. For a 5 star hotel. Standing in a bath to have a shower is unacceptable when the bath has a curved base. Very uncomfortable for elderly people. Floor tiles are horribly scuffed. The AC units are old and noisy. They don't really work that well. A 5 star hotel needs to have a lounge area for quiet drinks and snacks for guests. The Cricketers Bar is loud with uncomfortable seats and tables and while having a sports bar is ok, a high class hotel needs quiet areas for guests.

We were extremely pleased with the experience. Located in the nicest part of the CBD, no congestion, minimal hustle and bustle, very relaxing! Sumptuous breakfast with classy service and perfect ambience. Couldn’t ask for better! Complimenting Champagne for our anniversary was highly appreciated!

This is NOT a criticism but a safety suggestion…. Safety bars in the bath tub in room 410 for safe access in and out of it is highly recommended. There is a high risk of slipping or falling especially for the elderly but possible in any age group as the bath tub is very deep.

The architecture and furnishings of the historic building are ornate and meticulously presented. The fascinating history of the guests that have stayed at the hotel adds character to the Windsor timeline. The room service menu offers delicious food and staff are friendly and helpful. Concierge are prompt and courteous as they welcomed me at the door, helped with my luggage and safely, valet parked my car. The hotel is close to many conference venues and to Parliament House. Just adore the Windsor Hotel and the atmosphere of nostalgia that welcomes me at the doors.

The fact that the price range of the room meant I didn't get a choice of inside or outside view to Spring St.
