A stay at this grande dame of Melbourne makes for a nostalgic experience and a sense of being a part of a fading history when elegance and decorum were taken for granted. Everything you love about spacious rooms ! The breakfast is a treat and the location ticks all the boxes .

Plumbing (mixer and hot water ) was temperamental at times. I would have liked to see a commitment to reducing carbon footprint with recycling bins and only laundering towels if required

I booked here for a special occasion and the quality of the facilities and old world ambiance provide a unique experience that can't be replicated in a more modern hotel. The room sizes and appointments are excellent.

I was disappointed when I arrived. There are limited parking spots out the front of the building and they were full so I waited, double parked for one to become vacant. I found it rude for a member of the concierge staff who was in a mini van to beep me like I was taking their park. The fact that no member of staff offered to assist with bags either from the car or to out room only added to my sense of annoyance.

Exceptional staff and service. Good location and we loved the old grand styling. The decor in the foyer was stunning.

Our room was directly above the foyer and the foyer music could be heard in our room. As the hotel was full they could not change our room . As we were returning from the tennis after midnight the early music was awful. I had to buy ear plugs eventually as there was no other solution as they would not turn off the music. To be truthful I was disappointed as we are pensioners who save for this annual holiday and nothing was done.

The staff were excellent and very helpful, the location was excellent and the elegance and the old world charm was wonderful and unique.

The shower over the bath, the lack of towel rails in the bathroom and not enought bench space in the bathroom. I suggest adding a shelf in the bathroom for guests to place their personal items. I would have liked a better option for coffee like a plunger, more sugar, and have more milk available. Also, two towels each (one for drying hair) would have been useful. A comfortable couch in the Delux room would have been better than the two uncomfortable but beautiful chairs. Also, placing the TV along the wall at the end of the bed would have suited us better. Suggest that modern tap mixers in the basins and shower would have improved our experience.

A stay at the Windsor is a step into the last. In place of the brutalist minimalism of most Melbourne hotels (groan) you will instead find here the most beautiful architecture and interior design, every last imbued with the affectionate skill of a bygone age. Best location in Melbourne. Will certainly return.

Only criticism is I feel a Concierge should be trained to anticipate and meet most common needs. For example I asked the Concierge if they perhaps had any cleaning products or vinegar or even just a cloth so I could remove a spot stain before an important event, she just said “we don’t have.” I’m certain that wouldn’t have happened at the Windsor a century ago. But still, that’s more an issue of modernity than The Windsor in general.

Location is perfect for attending shows at the Princess Theatre- 2 min walk. The Cricketers bar next door is a bonus with great food and nice atmosphere. The room was comfortable and clean. Lots of great choices for eating in the area - easy to walk to everything.

The floor in the room was extremely squeaky throughout the room. The hot water in the old shower above the bath took forever to come through - I really thought it was broken and was ready to report it. We were told our room was cleaned and just needed an inspection and they would ring to let us know it was ready in no more than an hour - after filling in 2 1/2 hours we went back in to see what was going on and they had forgotten to ring. Wasted a lot of our time. This happened the last time we checked in here too .

This is the most beautiful building filled with memories. It is perfectly located in Spring St to give you easy access to every part of the city and access to trains and trams beyond. We actually ended up staying for three nights. In a Deluxe King street view room, we had plenty of space to spread ourselves around. This Hotel doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that the flashy high rises have, but if you are looking for a stately, elegant, quite and comfortable place to stay, you won’t be disappointed. Best of all, the staff were simply divine. Everyone treated us like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. And the best breakfast ever. Staying at the Hotel Windsor made us both feel very special and very privileged. Definitely a 10/10 stay.

As a stand alone Hotel, there is nothing that I didn’t like.

The Hotel Windsor has such old world charm, comfy beds, great choice of pillows. Spacious rooms with high ceilings. I stay here every 8 weeks and it was great this time to actually be acknowledged for that. Usually staff/people don’t remember you and it doesn’t make you feel like you want to come back. Out of many hotels in the area, the location and convenience are fabulous. Breakfast is on the expensive side but the food and service are A+. Friendly staff and very attentive concierge desk. Thank you, I’ll be back.

The hot water and shower experience is not the best.

Attractive heritage building with information displays on the colourful history of the hotel. Great service, with staff taking pride in their work.

The a la carte breakfast (no buffet option) was good or bad, depending on what you like. It's very tasty and well-presented, but not so great if you like variety and/or are sick of rich food and just want something light and healthy. Would be better if the standard inclusion with all meals was something like fruit rather than a big pastry.

The Hotel Windsor is like coming home. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Lovely decor, comfy beds and pillows. Really well located for getting around Melbourne CBD. Breakfast fabulous in the main dining room. Friendly and helpful staff keeps me coming back. A bit overpriced compared to other hotels in the area, but this hotel is in a league of it's own if you like old world charm with high ceilings and history.

One of the lifts is often out of service. They don't do deals for return customers, and I return every 8 weeks as I have family in Melbourne.
