March 2023

(I am Johannes wife) On my first travel alone the security and amability felt was heart comforting. The room was excellent, very big, perhaps a bit dark but I liked it. Near the Dom you could not be in a better place to visit the inner city either on your own or in company. A very calm street. I slept with one window open! Breakfast was good too and also on a smooth way. When leaving I was stressed because there was a problem with my flight... so... I forgot the pin code of my card... tried and tried and they solved the problem with a very big smile. ( Now I know my pin code again... - sorry for this...) If ever, and I hope so, I go back to Vienna I will certainly aim at staying again in this hotel. Vielen dank

I liked everything

The hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and nice-helped me with a computer problem which was not a usual matter..the room was a cLASSIC DOUBLE - spacious and well furnished with a sitting corner and a desk...the bathroom large and spotlessly clean and modern! Breakfast was rich and superb.......the hotel and its location are famous enough ,,,no need to add,,,,,,.

the hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner does not meet the hotel standard -delicately put.......the hotel management is aware of it and i guess the will take the right steps to change the current operators

Located right in the centre of Vienna and is the oldest hotel in this area. It oozes olde world charm. Really comfortable large rooms with brilliant air-conditioning.. really needed with the very hot weather we had. Two minutes from the underground and walking distance of the Opera House Hofburg Palace and Karls Kirche and St Peters church and a 10 min walk from Wien Mitte station, the destination point of the Airport trains. The breakfasts were fantastic. Such a selection of cereals, fruit, cheeses, cold meats, eggs, bread, bacon and sausage and they offer freshly backed Gluten free bread and muffins- but notify them in advance. They only serve breakfast, but it is walking distance to so many amazing restaurants.. and in the heat of Vienna in August, it was close enough to go back to mid day and relax in the room and Chill . The staff are really friendly. They offer a bar service from 3pm to 11pm each evening in the little covered courtyard too.

One of the entrances to the Hotel is also the smoking area for the hotel. It could be avoided by using the other entrance, but it would have been nice to freely access the Hotel from both doors.

The hotel is an institution just a stone throw's from Stephansplatz. The staff are smiley and helpful but not intrusive. I could have breakfast in the room with no extra charge which was great as I could leave my toddler to run around in the room and actually have a bite to eat. The room was generously sized, very quiet and well insulated. The bathrooms are clean. The deco is traditional, a little old but not cookie cutter like hotel chains (although I think there are some modernised, bigger rooms but I wanted something traditional)

For some reason, I don't know if it was because the rooms are very warm (I turned the thermostat down but it still felt warm) or the pillows were a little flat, but I slept very badly the two nights I stayed there, which was very strange as there was no noise and I usually don't have problems sleeping in places other than home. The bathtub was also not hermetic so the water leaked out as I was taking a bath.

First, the location is ideal. The building is next to Mozart's final residence. It's about a two minute walk to Stephansplatz, the cathedral and the subway. But the location is secondary to the care and attention of the hotel staff. Everyone we interacted with truly made us feel welcomed. I can truly say I was sad when it was time to leave.

I'm not sure that this is a negative, but I did fine the furnishing in the room to be a bit eclectic. With such a beautiful old building I expected older classic furnishings similar to the lobby, but surprisingly it was modern chic.

Outstanding boutique hotel - best I have encountered in 40+ years of international and domestic travel! The hotel is artfully, masterfully designed in a way that anticipates guests’ needs in every way while preserving (enhancing) the “old world” European charm of a classic property. Breakfast room: gorgeous - with a variety of excellent made-to-order dishes complimenting a generous buffet offering that has something new every day (including, unexpectedly, exquisite desserts). The front desk people make it clear, by their actions and attitudes (each in their authentically individual ways) that they enjoy their guests and what they’ve chosen to do for work. The housekeeping is thorough and impeccable while respecting the quirks of how we like to arrange our hotel room. Everyone handled our need for English (as regrettably monolingual Americans) capably and with grace. The creative and conspicuously “high end” design of the typically small bathroom included flawlessly gleaming chrome fixtures, two separate sinks (!), and every feature and “nice touch” imaginable (e.g., generous molded bath tub with double glass doors to make showering with dual rain and mounted hand-held heads a treat). The chandelier in the center of our room had a dozen LED bulbs (warm light) to supplement four lamps and an entryway ceiling light making this the only place during our six-week visit to four European countries where we didn’t feel it was “a little bit dark.” Different Viennese chocolate when we arrived, once again during our stay, and as a little surprise gift right after we checked out. This Koenig von Ungarn is, we learned, perhaps the oldest physical hotel property in Austria (!) but its artistic design and warmly modern service execution actually tempt us to return to Vienna - what an indescribably delicious experience - and yes, located on a lane just one long block from the iconic St Stephen basilica. p.s. A photo of the breakfast room is attached.

They asked us this question - I struggled to come up with a useful observation because their interest in knowing was obviously sincere. But, with time and if only to strengthen the credibility of this admittedly over-the-top positive review, I recall that our windows looking out on the quiet street could benefit from more effective black-out drapery.

Location is simply perfect, ideal for a walking trips around the city famous landmarks. Hotel itself (reception and breakfast area) could use some renovation (save for the patio, which was really nice), room, on the other hand, was very comfortable and decently sized. Big surprise was very nice, large bathroom with superb rainshower head and neat, american-style sinks. Toilet was separate from bathroom, which is a big plus.

I was kind of surprised with request of PASSPORT during the check-in (both me and my boyfriend are EU citizens, so ID shall be perfectly sufficient), anyway I showed my ID and it was OK. The only real con (but not a big one to be honest) is that breakfast was somehow sparse - definitely for a 4* hotel in the centre of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I would really enjoy more local pastry, hams, salami, cheese, perhaps some soft drinks. On-demand scrambled eggs were lacking any salt/pepper, which I found a bit shocking. Frankfurter sausage, on the other hand, was very good.

The room was very comfortable, spotless and everything in it was immaculate. Breakfast was superb, with a huge variety of delicious food to choose from, Staff were friendly, charming and very helpful all round - reception, porter, breakfast, cleaning staff, cafe bar service, everyone. The location is ideal, a quiet spot tucked away close to the centre. The building itself added to the pleasure - a substantial property exuding charm and quiet class.

There is nothing to dislike in or about the hotel.

The hotel is at the center of the city and close to all monuments and restaurants. Perfect for one person, my room was incredibly silent and comfortable in all respects. The staff were also exceptionally kind and helpful in all respects--ensuring that I could get a taxi at 4AM when I had to depart (sadly). Details in the room included a carafe of cool water and all the amenities once expects in a high end bathroom--and very soft sheets and duvet.

None.

We arrived earlier than check-in time. The reception manager was very kind and gave us the room around 12:00 o clock - which was 2 hours earlier than usual. I was travelling with my daughter and in a few days she had her birthday. When the manager was aware of that, he made a very kind surprise to us which was highly appreciated. We received an upgraded room :-) which was really wonderful. Thank you very much again for your kindness Mr. Sayed El Goukhi :-)

Nothing at all - I will stay there again at my next visit to Vienna
