EVERYTHING WAS EXCEPTIONAL!! The atmosphere of this hostel, cleanliness (fresh sheets, towels), value for money, a huge variety of activities to do and integrate guests at the hostel. everything is thought through, one has a private locker in mixed 6-people room with a socket in it(!). Loved the patio (green and quiet) as well as the common room with sockets and pillows to sit comfortably. there's no other place I'd rather returned to in whole Vienna, absolutely recommend
at times bathroom floor was slightly dirty, but no wonder - it was 6-people room, can't get everyone to pay attention to cleanliness

Very friendly, helpful staff. Atmosphere in the hostel was great. It was nice to come back to at the end of the day & feel relaxed. Bathroom in dorm was good. Very clean. Close to bakery & small supermarket, nice walk to city centre about 45 minutes. Also close to metro . Outdoor area & inside common area.
Unfortunately the stove burners in the kitchen are very slow to heat up & cook on but still manageable.

First of all : Location ! 10/10 8 minutes walk to the airport bus, around 25-60 minutes walk to all the places we wanted to see in Vienna. Also it was very safe during nighttime and well connected with trams in case you got tired. Room was very nice. Not big, but clean and has everything we need. There is a lot of 'extra' things in hostel like kitchen, bar, free tea, piano, nice garden etc. The stuff is really kind and helpful We liked also the atmosphere of this place :) Highly recommended

I was traveling with my son and had booked a "studio". This turned out to be a lovely, light-filled, spacious efficiency apartment with two single beds. The furnishings were very nice; beds were comfortable, the kitchen seemed brand new and was well-supplied. Bath towels were superior, and the bathroom was top-notch. This room was on the top floor of an "annex", reached by separate entrance next door to the main hostel. There is an elevator with glass walls so you can see the neighbors' gardens as you go up. The view was very nice from the 5th floor, and the apartment was very quiet. The front desk staff were helpful, and we found renting the transportation passes well worth the cost (4 Euros per day). The location - walking distance to the Westbahnhof train station - is very convenient if your train arrives there. The distance to the downtown is not far and is a pleasant walk. Otherwise there is a metro station close-by to the hostel. Also, there are eating option not far away if you don't feel like socializing with the other hostel guests or making use of your private kitchen. The price for the "studio" was a good bargain.
There was a very strong antiseptic smell in the elevator which severely affected my sinuses, even wearing a KN95 mask. (It smelled like the anti-covid sprays I had smelled in Mexico City this past summer.) Possible improvements to the kitchen would be the addition of a second dish towel, plus a roll of paper towels. The presence of a microwave would be welcome.

The staff at the hostel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Even though I arrived almost 2 hours early from check-in time, they took me to the room. Check-in was efficient, requiring only a brief formality. Transportation was quite comfortable. Being able to walk to the train station was a big advantage. My accommodation was a single room equipped with a private bathroom, where I encountered no issues with heating or hot water - essentials that significantly contributed to a comfortable stay. My usage was primarily for rest, and I did not explore additional facilities. Towels were provided, and extra ones were available at reception for 1 euro. There was a soap for the toilet. Apart from that, they provide the cleaning products in the photo I added. The internet connection was reliable, and the availability of 3-4 type C electrical sockets was convenient for charging multiple devices. The checkout process was seamless. I departed early in the morning, between 6:00 and 6:30, by simply leaving the keys in the designated box at the reception, without the need for any further procedures.

I booked a female only dorm (in a separate building) and it was MASSIVE. The lockers were rather small though (could fit one small carry-on) and were a bit difficult to get stuff in and out of. Many of the roommates opted to keep their luggage on the floor as a result. The bathroom and shower were outside of the room, which was nice, as that minimized disruptions. While I didn't socialize much with others, the hostel had a fantastic social vibe with communal dinners (pay-as-you-wish) that I joined one evening. The hostel also provides (monthly) transit passes for 4 euros a day, which was great considering one ticket was 2.60, so if you used the transit more than once that day, you were already breaking even on the cost. If you like access to a garden/courtyard, the main building also had one that seemed rather pleasant during the daytime.
The thing that I disliked the most about this hostel was the location. The staff insisted that the hotel was central as it was between the center and Schonburnn Palace. I'm not sure how the Viennese define "central", but in my books, a 40 minute walk (and a 20 minute transit trip) to the center of the city is not central by any means. If you're someone who prefers walking to taking public transit (to be able to see more of the city), going back to the hostel at any point in the day to rest becomes somewhat out of the question given the trek (unless of course you use public transit). I also found the wifi and reception to be spotty in my room, but this may have been different in the main building.

Definitely the BEST HOSTEL I stayed in so far!!! Absolute recommendation, I will come back! I stayed in a girls room (6 beds): + very friendly workers + WhatsApp Group with daily information about activities, dinner and organisation + free lockers for arrival and after check-out + very nice rooms with comfortable beds, lamps and plug sockets next to each bed, very clean, NO bed bugs! + big lockers inside the room (big backpack fits inside) + electronic key cards for doors and individual lockers + very clean and modern bathroom with separate WC and rain shower (hotel vibes) + free water and lemonade at the entry for everyone day and night + big kitchen with everything you need, clean + laundry room with several washing machines and dryers + nice lobby with guitars and piano + dining room, cool bar and nice garden + yummy breakfast menu every morning like in a Café + VERY SOCIAL HOSTEL and perfect for solo travellers, activities every day + TIP BASED DINNER every night at 8 pm! Good food and also good opportunity to meet new people, eat and drink together and play games + good location! I felt very safe although I'm a solo female traveller, the area is lively and safe and you can walk from Mariahilfer Street to the city center (30 minutes) or to the Schönbrunn Palace (20 minutes) or take the tram + many supermarkets (Penny, BILLA, LIDL), drug store (dm) and restaurants near hostel
Honestly, I cannot complain about anything! I had a very good time. Thank you so much!

The food was delicious, very veggie friendly and extremely good value. The location was excellent and there were directions available in the hostel for popular attractions, so getting around Vienna was made very easy for us. We also rented bikes from the hostel for the whole day at a great price! There were very fun activities every night organised and run by the very friendly and enthusiastic staff. The lovely staff member Laura taught us how to crochet! There was a great selection of board games in the common area and the bar had delicious cocktails that were very cheap. The facilities in general were fab, most importantly, very clean and tidy. The staff was very helpful with all our questions related to the night life, activities and must-see attractions. The hostel had a lovely vibe all around and was very social and welcoming! We will be sure to return to Ruthensteiner in the near future. :)
We really did not have any problems, it was perfect!

The hostel staff made us feel at home, helping us with everything we needed. The shared rooms are very good, very spacious, comfortable, and are equipped with closed lockers to store your personal belongings. Cleanliness is excellent. It is a hostel designed for young people and for meeting people, with many common spaces and scheduled activities to meet other guests (which you can attend or not, depending on your plans).
The only thing to improve, in our opinion, is that there is only one bathroom (with joint toilet and shower) for each shared room. Sometimes we had to wait for others to shower or go down to the ground floor to use the toilet (if it was not occupied too)

I loved the concept of the hostel. Everything is designed in such way to encourage interaction and comfort. They have a beautiful garden, a nice space to relax, a bar and chicken. They also prepare for you every night dinner at a very decent price and it’s delicious. I met so many great people and the entire vibe was awesome. We really had a blast, I would definitely come back.
The only things missing were towels, I mean you could ask for them at the reception and I don’t mind necessarily, I just expected them to be in the room. I am not sure if you were supposed to pay for the towels but I didn’t check. Anyway this is nothing major, just something I noticed.
