The location, midway between the town of Banff and Lake Louise, was perfect. Beautiful area off the beaten path, in the forest. Within a very short walk, a great restaurant and the trailhead to Johnston Falls. In the evening, we'd sit by the gas fireplace/heater and enjoy reminiscing about the day's adventure. It was very cozy and warm, offering a nice respite from the chilly, rainy weather. If it had been sunny, we would have enjoyed the porch. Remember... these are rustic cabins, at a good price, not the Hilton Grand. The bathroom was small and efficient, but you will have everything you need for a relaxing stay.
We didn't see a moose!!! Bear? Check. Deer? Check. Elk? Check. But no moose.... 😥 Of course, that's not the property's fault!

The individual cabins on this property are very charming and comfortable. Everything was clean. The location is really the draw here, since the property is right next to the Johnston Canyon trail, which is open 24/7. I really enjoyed being able to explore the area early in the morning or later in the evening after the crowds had thinned out significantly.
The restaurant food was pretty mediocre and the restaurant itself closed way too early for my liking. There is nowhere else to eat nearby without driving 20+ minutes, and no real way to cook anything in the room (at least not in my room - not sure about other, more expensive units). While I thought the property was very nice, it was quite expensive for the quality of lodging provided.

Quirky lodges , set in wildlife corridor , near walks ,away from city but within driving distance of both Banff and lake Louise , or public transport right on doorstep , lodges are basic but comfortable , and great where they are, there are no cooking facilities in lodge ,coffee machine which is used for tea as well , and if you looking to catch up on soaps ,tough no tv , the whole site closes at 8pm , restaurant limited choice and also closes 8pm ,if out of these times a call required so phone required , that said had a great time
No microwave

The natural surroundings were stunning, and the opportunity to hike to the waterfalls right from the hotel's territory was a definite highlight. The scenery was breathtaking, and it made for a memorable adventure. The bungalow was well-equipped. Everything I needed was readily available, making my stay comfortable. Additionally, the hotel's on-site cafe was a gem – offering delicious treats and a cozy atmosphere. The combination of the beautiful nature, the delightful cafe, and the thoughtful room amenities made this stay comfortable.
I stayed at this hotel recently and found the WiFi to be quite disappointing. While it somehow worked when I was outdoors, inside the room, it was a different story. Connecting was a hit-or-miss situation, and even when I managed to get connected, the internet was practically non-existent. Even outdoors, the WiFi frequently disconnected, making it incredibly frustrating. To give you an idea, I experienced around 10 disconnections during just one internet call. It was a major inconvenience and significantly impacted my stay.

Location was very good, especially with the trail right at the property. The bungalow was very nice and fit in well with the surrounding. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant attached, which was convenient and the food quite good
The heat in our bungalow wasn’t working when we checked in. We mentioned it to the person on staff in the office who was going to have it looked at. We were there for three nights and it was never repaired. We did use the small electric heater in the bungalow but did not want to keep it on when we were away or while we slept so it was fairly comfortable but not ideal

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Johnston Canyon Lodge & Bungalows, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location of the lodge couldn't have been more convenient, being within just half a mile from the stunning Johnston Canyon. The best part was that we could go for hikes whenever we pleased, away from the crowds of tourists, as the buses had already departed for the day. Right from the beginning, the customer service was exceptional. Despite our late arrival, everything was thoughtfully explained in a letter left for us in front of the office. The only minor issue we encountered was a missing bedding set for the foldable couch. However, after a quick email to their customer service around 11 pm, the service team promptly brought it to us, ensuring our comfort throughout our stay. The lodge also boasts a lovely gift/coffee shop and a delightful restaurant on-site. Each morning, we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast without having to endure long lines or waiting times, starting our days on a perfect note. Even after we checked out and were en route back to the U.S., the hotel went above and beyond. They contacted us to let us know we had forgotten some belongings in our room. Although we were already crossing the border, Maria from the front desk graciously offered to ship the items to us. Today, we received the package with our belongings, along with a charming postcard from the hotel. The level of care and attention to detail displayed by the staff left us incredibly pleased and touched. Overall, our stay at Johnston Canyon Lodge & Bungalows was nothing short of fantastic. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a serene retreat in the midst of breathtaking nature, complemented by top-notch customer service. Whether it's for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, you won't be disappointed with the experience.
The only aspect of our stay at Johnston Canyon Lodge & Bungalows that gave us a moment's pause was the pricing at the on-site restaurant. While the food was tasty, we found it to be a little bit pricier than expected. Additionally, we were surprised to discover that they didn't offer a kids' menu, which could have been more budget-friendly for families traveling with young ones. During our dinner we paid $218 for 5 burgers with sides, 3 juices, 2 glass of wine and 1 cocktail.

We loved our stay at Johnston Canyon Lodge. Being unfamiliar with Banff, we really were unsure where to find lodging. This location was perfect! It’s situated between Banff and Lake Louise, so it was perfect for visiting those areas. We saw a lot of wildlife on the Bow Valley Parkway, which is where the cabins are located. The cabin was quaint and met all of our needs. Our cabin overlooked the rushing creek. We would definitely stay here again!

Location is fantastic for Johnston Canyon waterfalls. We set off at 08:00 and walked up to the third waterfall in less than 1 hour. No queues for the best photo shots. Then showered, then paid for a decent hot breakfast at the on site cafe. Then key drop check out by 11:00. Not cheap, but nothing is in the Banff region. We were so pleased we chose this cabin accommodation instead of a generic motel room for the same price in crowded Banff.
My father is aged 86 and he has a huge old farmhouse to look after with 9 carpeted rooms. He hasn’t changed the carpets for over 30 years and they all look a lot better than the carpet in our log cabin. Unless carpet cleaner in Banff costs hundreds of dollars per liter, there is no excuse for what was on the floor of cabin 14A. The curtains were in a slightly better condition, but would have looked a lot better back in the 1980’s when they were purchased.

Loved the property, the staff and the hiking, and the area is beautiful. The restaurant is pricey but great food and service.
I would’ve given this a 9-10, but unfortunately we had a water softener alarm go off in our cabin starting at 4 am, and the maintenance person came as soon as they opened in the am to fix it (which was great!) and he thought he had it fixed, but it started the same time again the next night. 2 out of 4 of the nights we stayed we weren’t able to sleep well and they never offered any money back and considering you pay a lot to stay here, it was disappointing, because otherwise, we absolutely loved the experience, and the staff are very nice, just thought it would’ve been a good gesture to refund some of our money.

Loved everything about the property. The location made hiking Johnston Canyon so easy; the cabin was extremely well outfitted and comfortable; the claw footed bathtub was a delight each night; Hannah is so nice, informative and has great taste in music; the selection of gifts in gift shop was good; Redge was great company for breakfast; and check in and out was very quick. Could not have asked for more.
There was nothing I did not like about the property.
