The room was basic but clean and ideal for our needs. The digital entry system to the building and rooms was the best we have come across, no messing about with keys or swipe cards. The centre is located on the University campus in an amazing area. Very peaceful and tranquil with lots of trees, shrubs and flowers along wide roads. The rose garden on the campus is amazing. A transport hub is 10 min walk away with buses to downtown Vancouver. Cafes, and shops are close by, as is the beach. Underground parking is available at a cost but worth it because there are parking restrictions elsewhere.
Breakfast service could be organised better. It was not clear what to do. People were walking around, getting in each others way looking for hot drinks, cereals, cooked breakfast. The cooked breakfast had 4 choices shown on photographs, but what was on the plate did not always resemble the portions shown. Better seating needs to be provided, maybe smaller tables but more of them.

It was perfect and comfortable for a short trip where I was out and about the whole day. I stayed here for 6 days. The self check in and checkout is super convenient and all digital. The room is clean, got all the basic essentials one needs and a supply closet to pick up anything that got over. It includes a pretty filling breakfast, though the variety doesn’t change everyday. It’s situated close to the rose garden and spanish banks on campus where the view is absolutely beautiful. The bathroom tub is a nice plus. Great value for money!
Its at UBC which is anyway far from the downtown and it’s a 10 min walk to the bus loop at UBC from Carey Centre

The room wasn't big but there was everything we needed, IT was cleanand bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also pleasant And we liked Mrs. Mint who served it she was really nice. The location Is Ok with many buses going downtown within about an hour.
IT depends WHO makes the breakfast. One lady prepaired very tasty ones, the other didn' t cook the sousage and the egg properly. If you stay longer, the breakfasts become bit monotounous. There are 4 options 3 Are variatons od eggs on different ways, Bacon/sousage and potatoes. Option 4 are pancakes.

The location was great. I was visiting my son who’s living in residence, so I was basically across the parking lot from his building. Very handy! Took a nice walk down to rose garden and MOA, and cafés and restaurants were close by. The Carey Centre is very secluded and quiet. I’d definitely book there again, now that I know the protocol of this residence vs. hotel. I missed seeing the cutoff time for hot breakfast on the first day, but could still have toast and coffee. The next day, I enjoyed eggs, bacon and yogurt - very good. If you don’t see something you need, ask the cook/server. For example, milk and yogurt are kept behind the serving counter.
I arrived late (8 pm) and didn’t realize it was a student residence without a 24 hour reception desk, so was confused and a little worried when doors were locked. I called a number on the door. No answer but the residence contact person must’ve known it was a guest calling because he caught up with me at the second door I tried. A special email to guests with directions to correct door would’ve helped. There’s a small coffee maker in the room but no coffee or tea stocked on shelf. Would be nice to make a beverage in the room.

Room was tidy and clean - not too modern but quiet and cozy enough. Breakfast was included and was decent- student-type cafeteria with continental breakfast. Location was perfect was visiting around and taking buses.Very affordable on the beautiful UBC campus near many attactions.
It was little strange to have a "self-serve" hostel type but I did not know what to expect. When I got there, I understood that this was most often used as a student accommodation with some staying there permanently. I got used to it and felt like I was back in my university days: great atmosphere to stay young!

Lets be honest its not the Ritz, but it never professes to be. Its smart student style accommodation. The rooms are of a good size, the beds are comfy, the bathroom is clean and functional. Location wise the campus is lovely, it is a 40min bus ride from the centre but as its a College campus busses are frequent (every 5 mins or so) into the centre. The fact it is out of the centre does mean travel in but it also means its lovely and quiet. The free breakfast was a real treat after flying in the night before (again it wasn't anything fancy but good well cooked breakfast)
Using a coffee maker to make tea isn't ideal but we managed.

We found the check in experience a little confusing, arrived after office hours so had to use a check in module. At the time not fun, but helped the next people so learned fast. Room clean and comfortable, lots of hot water. Breakfast OK, very chaotic with little signage. Had to ask for some things but nothing to indicate the need to ask. (Yogourt, fruit) Beautiful location, lovely walks around campus. Lots of international guests.
Never did figure out car. Had to apply for parking spot and pay the next day for the couple of days we were there but no tag or anything to indicate we had paid. Car still there the next day so everything OK.

Convenient location, clean rooms, quiet! Comfy beds Super helpful and friendly staff (printing out lab/practical slides for me and getting me extra pillows/blankets upon request) Good quality breakfast. Nice to have access to a shared microwave. Brought back memories of dorm life!
1) Portion size on breakfast was small (but delicious & made fresh!!), and only available after 7:30am... I unfortunately usually had to leave before 7 during my stay... 2) I also wish there was a tea kettle in the room. 3) The hottest water out of my particular room's shower was just "warm". (My friend who stayed in another room said it was plenty "hot" for them)

Our stay at Carey Centre was a wonderful experience with great service. Reception staff were exceedingly friendly and polite and were able to take out queries and help us out with our needs. Special mention to Kamal in the kitchen for being such a dear and making our son smile each morning at breakfast! Location is superb just a short walk away from the bus exchange with many buses downtown.
They are building a second building (which is great) but in the meantime during the day expect some noise. No issue at all if you're out during the day!

Very close to UBC Département of Dentistry. In a calm neighborhood. Short distance to botanical garden, japanese garden, an a lot of trails that leads to the beach. Good connection to the Bus.
might need a new coat of paint.
