Location, and design are top. Most staff is very professional, the valet service one of the most efficient and welcoming we have ever experienced. Bottles of water are left at your disposal every day. The layout of the rooms and bathrooms is well organized, both are bright and very comfortable, nicely isolated from outside noises. Interesting view overlooking Philips Square.

The SPA closed after we had made our reservation and we were not informed by the hotel before arrival. Beware also of the daily cleaning service. We had to request for our room to be vacuumed on three occasions, as this does not seem to be part of the daily routine. Once informed, the situation was quickly addressed, but customers should not have to bring the attention of management to such issues. As a result, although we had rated our stay in March 2024 as exceptional, we regret that this was not the case in February 2025.

The hotel's location was a major plus, but what really made our stay stand out was the outstanding restaurant and exceptional valet service. The restaurant's delightful atmosphere, outstanding staff and cuisine were a treat, while the valet staff's friendly and efficient service added a touch of warmth to our experience.

We were disappointed with the reception staff's handling of a deposit error. Despite discussing the details with them the day prior, they still took the deposit twice. When we brought this to their attention, they failed to take any corrective action or offer a suitable solution. They didn't take responsibility for the error or offer any meaningful assistance. To make things worse, the manager's unhelpful response when the staff escalated the issue only added to our disappointment. This experience fell short of our expectations for good customer service.

My stay at Hôtel Birks in Montreal was like stepping into a dream. The hotel, with its sparkling chandeliers and gold details, felt like a scene straight out of a Celine Dion ballad—full of grandeur and just the right amount of drama. My room, a Grand Montreal View, was a plush haven with a king-size bed that was almost too comfortable. The marble bathroom, complete with a rainfall shower, made me feel like super pampered. The staff were incredibly professional and welcoming, a stark contrast to my recent stay in a rather lacklustre U.S. city. Their charm and efficiency were truly top-notch. Located in the heart of Montreal, the hotel’s position is perfect for city exploration.

Great location, excellent staff, very clean and comfortable hotel. When we first walked into the hotel we were floored and thoroughly impressed with the hotel. A beautiful 5-star hotel that exceeded our expectations. Upon entering our rooms, we were ecstatic at how beautiful and spacious the room was. Finely decorated and beautifully made. Very clean and tidy. Provided everything that you would need in a hotel.

The shower handle location was the only fault we found. Always got wet because it was located where water would hit you if you didn't know exactly how to handle the knobs.

Beautiful hotel and great location for food and shopping.. 30 mins walk to the Basilica and another 10 to old Montreal. Hotel was also another 15 walk to the base of the trail to Mont Royal. Didn't try the hotel restaurant but it had a nice vibe.

When we got there, there was an issue with the water main due to construction which meant toilets and showers were not available. Luckily it only lasted 24 hrs. We asked what options we had and they could not offer any,, like sending us to a nearby facility with running water. Staff just seemed unprepared for this incident. Lastly, we got charged for an in room purchase for a bag of chocolate which we did not consume. At check out, we told staff we didn't consume it and were advised it would be taken off. Checked the bill recently, and it was still there. Little petty for a hotel that charges $500 a night.

We loved the rooms! They were spacious, very well appointed, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The building has wonderful history. Hotel front desk was very accommodating, getting us in our room early.

Our experience for breakfast didn't meet expectations. The wait staff needs to be more attentive as we could not catch the eye of our server. We were brought the wrong bill (which is an honest mistake) but overall, the breakfast is expensive and I really appreciate when restaurants provide coffee refills free of charge. It should be a given at breakfast. I'd find breakfast elsewhere next time as I would definitely stay at the hotel again.

The property is beautifully maintained, with a perfect blend of modern amenities and elegant decor that creates a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were impeccably clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay, including high-quality linens and a range of thoughtful amenities. I came to Montreal to celebrate my Birthday and the hotel staff gave me a welcoming note and a bottle of champagne. One of my favorite features was the location, which offered stunning views of the city and easy access to nearby attractions and transportation. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile.

Excellent, amazing and beautiful. Perfect hotel, beautiful interior, the decor is just stunning. Perfect check in and smooth, staff very professional, spoke English and French perfectly. Was made to feel very welcome and exceptionally prioritized. I finally have found a place that checks all the dots. Very organized, the valet guys are very on point, very sweet and work well in a cohesive fashion. They took vehicle down, brought our luggage up, we were very pleased. Room as superb, CLEAN!! The shower is off the chain.. I used that more than I needed to bath.. beautiful shower, bathroom, beds excellent and comfortable. They have a Chrome cast.. that was a shock.. so we could watch ANYTHING we wanted from our phone.. just totally on point. Excellent location right in the Center of Saint Catherine square. Walking distance to EVERYTHING!! We had a fantastic stay.. absolutely will be coming back.. want to say thank you for everything.. thank you thank you A+++++!!

The only real let down was breakfast. Although of good quality and refined presentation, it lacked variety and options, i.e. only plain yogurt, only white bread, no real fresh seasonal fruit (just a classic fruit salad mixed with candid fruit ), no cold cuts nor cheese, no honey or jam choice, etc Very limited choices for eggs too. Continental breakfast (see photo below) with bad coffee cost me a total of $40 (with all the charges). Really disappointed.
