The room comfortably fit my entire family for days! Fridge was huge. You CANNOT BEAT THE LOCATION. It is across the street from the beach. They lock the place up at night and it was very secure. The AC in the rooms was strong and necessary for the humidity of Tamarindo. The staff and their dogs were a lot of fun - great suggestions and tips on activities.

You cannot choose your neighbors. Ours were a little loud in the early part of the evening but really got quiet after 9pm. If it continued late into the evening I would have felt comfortable talking with the staff for help but it never came to that...

We were upgraded to a king bed which was great because that’s what we are used to. The pool was clean and refreshing. The location is excellent and any noise at night was drowned out by shutting bathroom door which has louvered windows and having the AC on. Right across from the path to the beach, my favourite stores and the waffle monkey where we had breakfast on the beach daily. You can walk anywhere in town from here.

The two small things that could have been improved, is a bedside table or even a shelf above the bed. There is enough room to move the bed from the wall and put a 6”shelf/ headboard type thing behind. The other small thing is coffee packets. There is a coffee maker with no coffee.

The hotel is in a great location across the street from the beach, right in the centre of town and the price is very reasonable. The rooms are shabby but the king size bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The pool was big and there's a small outdoor kitchen if you want to cook something although utensils are limited.

We didn't have any hot water, we mentioned it to the guy who checked us in and he said 'yes you do' he didn't offer to check it he just kept saying that we HAD hot water. I would stay here again soley based on location and price but my husband wouldn't, the cold showers were a step too far!

In the heart of the city. No need to drive anywhere to go to the beach, restaurants and shops. The onsite pool was very refreshing at the end of the day and I feel the car parking on the building facilities to be relatively secure.

Well with being in the heart of town it tended to be a bit noisy at night. We had left the bathroom window open and the door closed for the air conditioning but think if we would have closed it it would have been less. If you are someone needing ultimate quiet to sleep you may want to bring earplugs or rent far outside the city and drive in.

The hotel was conveniently located right in the heart of the fun part of Tamarindo. Everything was easily walkable and we had a view of the pool from our balcony doors. At night we were also able to watch the lightning from the storm rolling in. The property is beautifully landscaped and the entire place has a very welcoming and home vibe.

The only downside to our stay was the noise from the construction happening along the main road but of course this was no fault of Hotel Mar Rey.

The location is amazing and the staff were so friendly and kind. The rooms have great balconies with seating. The pool was clean and there was a great area for preparing food. Beds were very comfortable.

Some street noise, but that can’t be helped because it is in the middle of everything! Coffee maker in the room, but no coffee provided. Shampoo and body wash not labeled and no beach or pool towels provided.

Location cannot be beat. Breakfast and sunset on the beach within 100 steps from our room. Beautiful room, comfortable bed, delightful pool (with shade!!!!). Everything is fabulous. Will return!

Parking is tight - first come first serve, but we found a spot on the street right by the gate for our first night. Not really a problem. I read reviews complaining of noise. Yes, there is a street, and a few obnoxious motorcycles might roar by in the morning, but it is just occasional. Overnight it was very quiet and we slept very well. You will not be disappointed.

This was a nice place, clean, it had a front porch area with a view of the pool, nicely landscaped. I liked the carved wood headboards for each bed and the bathroom and back doors. Nice doors. It was very centrally located, you didn't really have to drive anywhere if you didn't want to. They even had a grill and gas powered stove outdoors by the pool to cook your own meals, even had pots and pans, etc.

The traffic noise on the main drag side of the rooms was a little annoying, but it calmed down by 10 or 11. Also, they had a coffee maker, but no coffee? And worse than that, there weren't any filters of it either. And they didn't provide them, you had to go out and buy some. Really? How expensive could coffee filters be? Also, the chairs weren't very comfortable, and one of the tables was broken so you had to be careful with it.

staff was friendly and helpful. Location is awesome. Room was confortable. Noisy guests woke up the entire hotel at 5am but it took a few minutes for staff to take care of them.

I pointed out on the first day that the wash basin in the bathroom was clogged and water drained too slow. Lady came and did not think it was bad enough to help. Kept getting worse over next days. I just tried to not make a big deal given it was just a few days but this would not be tolerable at home. I think it is a bit overpriced but the location is I guess what you are paying for.

The location. It was very convenient to everything we wanted to do. The pool was very clean and enjoyable! We love balconies and this one overlooking the pool was perfect!

Outside by the outside kitchen area, the tiles/brick were broken in several areas making it harder to walk around. I wish we had enough towels - 1 hand towel for 2 people, large bath towels would have been good and the towels we got were dingy and old. It was pretty loud at night but knew that going in because of the corner, in town location, but wanted to go there anyway and glad we did!
