Close to central station, metro lines to everywhere Short walk to Marienplatz Breakfast €5.90 = cereal and toast. We had a double room with own bathroom and balcony on 5th floor Elevators available or stairs Washing machine = €3.50 per wash

Wrist bands required to be worn like we were at school disco for the entire 4 days Shower dribbles out water. I had to run around to get wet. Bed very firm. Had to strip own bed and deliver linens to reception on check out.. Not enough washing machines for 5 floors of residents.

Very friendly and respectful staff (reception, bar, housekeeping, ...). They are all very professional, kind and supportive. We had a problem on 05.01 in the late evening and the receptionist solved it professionally. The Rooms were clean. Lockers are useful and we didn't need our own lock for them. One entrance door, one to enter the floor and one for our room, would be a good level of safety. Whether u want to chill in the nice winter-garden or enjoy "Bier Aus dem Fass" at the bar or meet new people in the Kitchen, u have lots of choices. The support for having services is very good. U may have towels, playing cards, dishes and so on. There is info on the wall about sightseeing, events, restaurants etc. The kitchen was always clean and we could find literally everything we needed, even we could make our own filter coffee. Some shared food in the refrigerator, or some small food from the hostel as well. There was a laundry-room, some public restrooms and showers in the corridors. Everything well-managed! This was my ninth stay there. It has a nice friendly atmosphere, which is the result of having very good staff. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, who wants to enjoy a great hostel. Stay always good Wombat's.

I love the Falafel with fresh veg for Breakfast, the comfy group Kitchen with Pizza oven and the trees 💖🌱💫

That the Kitchen and Tree area is closing at 10pm. I understand that it has to be quiet becouse people are sleeping at this time allready but why not make it a strict silence area after 10pm? No talking, nothing loud after 10pm in Kitchen/Tree Area will make it a whole new atmosphere that will be quite enjoyable to relax into the night. So i didnt like to get ignored with my request for after 10pm quiet opening time, until now, hopefully the great stuff replys rather soon tho :)

Everything pretty much within my expectations

To be forced to put the sheets on the "basket" before leaving. If I pay for a room, I expect you to take account of that. You should have enough employees to do that. I don't feel comfortable doing the laundry job.

Location is excellent as the hostel is 200m maximum walking distance to Munich main station (for intercity trains) which links directly to the metro and there is a plethora of eateries & supermarkets there. The hostel has a really nicely decorated common area and everywhere looks clean and neat.

I stayed in room 403, all female dorm, and a couple of girls checked-out in the morning but the beds were still not made when I returned at 8pm. A new girl came and she didn’t have new bedsheets and covers and so I had to guide her to go down to the reception for it including renting a hairdryer with a deposit of 10euros (will be returned) if she needed one. Just not a very nice welcome. This hostel does not number their beds (why don’t you just number it to make things easier) so it can get confusing when one first arrives.

I was travelling for work, I'm self employed so cost was important to me and I felt it was really good value and safe. Location was great, right in the centre of Munich next to the Hauptbahnhof and easily walkable distance to Marienplatz etc. Breakfast was really good value with a good choice of bread, toast, fruit, yogurt, meat, cereals, eggs, hot water/tea, coffee, juice etc. The kitchen also had most stuff to make your own food, drinks. There's also a fridge. I was in a 6 bed single sex dorm, the beds were really comfy, great to have a locker and charging point for each bed. The bathroom seemed to be pretty soundproof, and the shower was good. There was a band on in the bar which was great for a solo traveller to sit and listen, but also it became a good talking point to meet other travellers. It was my first time in a shared dorm, and it was a pretty good experience. It was also great to have a place to leave my bag once I'd checked out in the morning so that I didn't have to carry it around with me all day, and easy to collect before heading to the airport due to it's proximity to the central station. Things I learnt - if you plan to arrive late ensure you have a torch so that you can see to make your bed (put the sheet and pillowcase on the bed) as others will be sleeping. If you know you'll be back late have your pjs and toothbrush easy to find so you don't disturb other guests. Earplugs and an eyemask were really useful so that you're not woken when other guests have to leave earlier than you in the morning.

would have been handy to know that the lockers are numbered to match your bed so that when you get back late and it's dark that you know which locker is yours easily. Also, how to work them, which is really easy to work out when it's light but in the dark not so easy. (I just slept with my bag on my bed the first night)

The hostel's location is without a doubt the biggest advantage. It is 2mins away from Munich Hbf so it is easy to get anywhere with the public transport. The reception is open 24 hours so late check-in was not an issue. The breakfast is great value for money and the common area is beautiful. The in-suite bathrooms were also good to have so I didn't have to share with many people.

One of the drawbacks of staying this central is the noise - I could hear people shouting/talking all night which made sleeping quite a challenge. The WiFi was very unreliable, I ended up using my own hotspot for the full stay. Especially because I was working remotely, taking meetings on the hostel WiFi was not an option because of how slow it was.

It is one of the best hostels I stayed in. The rooms are big and they include lockers that open with key card, big table and bench in the middle of the room and hooks for hanging jackets. The bed is quite comfortable and the pillow isn't bad either. Every bed has a shelf with a socket and light. The bathroom is clean and spacious. The hostel has a kitchen, washing room, common room and a bar. Common room is very big and cosy with lot of pillows and sockets. The bar has a pool table and there was karaoke night when I was staying which was very fun. All in all it had everything and it is really close to the main station (5 min) and city center (15 min). The breakfast is cheaper than other restaurants and quite tasty.

The only thing I would change is to put toiletries in the bathroom. There was only soap. I've been to other hostels that had shampoo and gel adapted to the wall.

This was my third stay at Wombats, as I used Munich as a base for exploring Bavaria. The location of this hostel is so perfect. Every time I arrived by train or FlixBus, it was only ever a short walk to my hostel. On the morning with thick snow, I was very glad of that fact!! Also, while I had poor shower pressure the first two times, my shower in my third dorm was blissful! (Third time lucky?!) The staff are so helpful and the communal areas are great. Thick snow outside and you can hang in the glass roofed indoor garden/ sofa room? So clever! The communal kitchen is so well stocked. And I enjoyed the kind of travellers who stay here. They were friendly and nice.
