Stunning authentic Norman castle with a real medieval feel. Super comfortable rooms and an outstanding breakfast in the castle keep. We stayed mid winter and spent a pleasant night in front of the huge open fireplace and log fire with a drink from the bar. Lots of quiet alcoves to hide away in and enjoy the calm atmosphere. Breakfast was outstanding, served in the castle keep. We had dinner in the clubhouse nearby but would opt for the fine dining in the castle if staying there again, having seen the dining room at breakfast the following day. Staff are super friendly and the grounds are stunning.

Absolutely everything, from the moment I arrived the staff were so friendly and helpful, the service in the clubhouse restaurant was unbelievable, there was a couple of mistakes with our order but they were rectified straight away. The food was delicious and our waitress was amazing for recommendations when we didn't know what we wanted to order.

From our room you could hear everything from the room above down to them using the toilet.

Great staff, wonderful breakfast, tranquil location. Welcome was very good with mulled wine on arrival. It was superb for a quick break . Had dinner at the golf club and the staff there too were very accommodating.

Piped music from the restaurant was audible from the bedrooms one floor up.

This hotel accommodation is the ideal setting for any romantic get away . It’s history and exceptional accommodation exceeded our expectations prior to my arrival the staff followed my instruction and requests without fail . The spa treatment was exceptional . Staff professionalism was every part of what makes kilkea castle as a whole . We were welcomed and the hospitality remained consistent for our whole stay . Reception team always on hand to tend to our needs. Breakfast was outstanding with a fantastic selection and an exceptional service team nothing was a problem at breakfast for this team . The restaurant teams were exceptional in delivery of service polite courteous at all time and the chef food presentation left no doubt in the words fine dining . Beautiful presentation of food . Walking around the grounds we observed the attention to detail the grounds team ensuring that the castle grounds were every bit as beautiful as the castle itself it was a pleasure to walk around the beautiful fauna and trees creating the relaxing ambience and setting . While the grounds team quietly busied themselves in the attention to maintenance and detail . Thankyou to kilkea castle and team for making our stay exceptional

Breakfast was excellent. Bed was very comfortable and the room was big and decorated in very soft colors. Beautiful grounds and scenery around. The falconry surpassed our expectations. Children absolutely loved it and have talked about it being the best part of our holiday. Shampoos and creams were very nice.

Linen on the bed was stained. Bathroom was down the stairs in the room which wasn’t fun going in the middle of the night! Bath was slippery and very high. Staff weren’t terribly friendly at the Castle but at the Club House they were great. Only one small fan and it was extremely hot which of course is unusual for Ireland!

The property was incredibly beautiful and it felt incredible driving up onto the grounds and entering the castle. The staffing at the front desk was super helpful and got us breakfast early since we had a flight to catch the next morning. Really nice bathrooms and rooms inside of where we were staying and it felt very secluded which was great as well. My wife and I would like to fly back and visit again in April.

The steak at the restaurant was just okay and the female server seemed extremely disinterested in helping us in any way. We don’t complain and write reviews but her attitude was the exact opposite of the front desk. We weren’t sure if it was because we got sat at 8:30 pm when it closed at 9:00 pm but we tried to eat at 8:00 pm but the restaurant pushed our reservation back.

The falconery experience and activity was an absolute highlight. We felt so lucky to get to do it. The 1180 resturant was delicious and had fantastic service. The castles grounds are also beautiful to explore. The spa experience as well were tremendously relaxing. Highly recommend this location for any special occasion.

The common areas can be a bit crowded when a wedding service is going on and also book a car to explore the country side, the location is beautiful but a bit remote, if you want to have a day off the grounds.

Kilkea Castle was the very first place we stayed in Ireland and it set the tone for an awesome trip! The Castle was so beautiful and majestic that it literally held us spellbound as we drove up to it. It was like being transported to another time. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds ( gardens, cemetery) and the Castle itself. It was like being in a fairy tale. We stayed in one of the carriage rooms adjoining the castle as it had 2 separate areas for to use. Spacious, comfortable and clean. We were greeted by a delightful young woman who lived in the area and she was wonderful in telling us a bit about the castle & helpful locating a pharmacy for us. We had dinner in the Golf House (?). It was acceptable but a bit disappointing for the price. My entree was cold yet vegetables hot. It was like it may have been microwaved? However, the views were beautiful! The waitresses and help seemed a bit busy. The breakfast was wonderful and breakfast staff great !

We initially went to the bar in the castle to soak in the experience. The bartender could have been more welcoming and attentive. We did not need or want another drink but had we wanted it, we would have had to find the bartender first.

We were on vacation trip around Ireland and have already stayed in a castle before Kilkea Castle with not very positive experience. My first thought was to cancel Kilkea castle, but my husband convinced me to compare. it was absolutely wonderful stay! starting from very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, good shower, so comfortable bed and pillows that we didn’t want to get up next morning :) We have changed 5 hotels traveling all over north of Ireland - Kilkea Castle was the best! I mean it!!! we had to leave to the airport next morning before breakfast time and the staff packed us two separate bags with breakfast that we would miss because of the flight. I’m so glad I have not cancelled it because of previous bad experience with another castle!! we have already advised Kilkea Castle to our friends and hope to stay there again during our next trip to Ireland P.S. fine dining was absolutely perfect, each dish was not simply delicious, every bite brought a whole palette of various tints of tastes. It was worth every penny!

The Grounds were fantastic. Its a very beautiful castle. Staff are very nice and friendly. I told the staff that It was my Fiances birthday and they left a lovely card and chocolates in the room. Later that evening they suprised here with a lovely desert at dinner time, very kind gesture.

A few cabinets in the room were a bit dusy in the inside and hard to open. (A small bit outdated). When we arrived in the room also the sink was not particularly clean. Although these are small problems in our eyes overall its worth the stay.
