Warm welcome from staff. Had George B Shaw room on the first floor, which was bright and spacious with a view of the lough. Large bathroom which included a roll top bath and again a lovely view of the lough from large window. Liked the quality toiletries and bottles of water left each day. Drawing rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated, great for relaxing pre dinner. Dinner was exceptional. Menu not very extensive, but the dishes were reasonably priced and so flavoursome with beautifully cooked vegetables from the walled garden. Breakfast was ordered from a menu and again the dishes were a delight, I especially loved the homemade muesli with yoghurt. Staff in dining room were friendly, attentive and very efficient. A very enjoyable stay.

A shelf in the bathroom would be useful for toilet bags and toiletries. Had to put ours on the bathroom floor.

Castle Grove Country House is a beautiful historic estate, but what makes it really unique are the most friendly staff there, always attentive even to the smallest of your needs. My son fell in love with one of the cats of the estate and one of the staff members made sure the cat was there the day of our departure, so my son could say goodbye to her. That was such a sweet gesture and we will never forget. Thank you to all the staff at Castle Grove Country House for making our stay unforgettable with their kindness ❤️

Staff very friendly and accommodating. Communal areas of the hotel were stunning with the luxury and grandeur of an old manor house. Amazing breakfast

Location was a little out of the way for me but very quiet and peaceful if that's what you're looking for. Although the period decor of the communal areas was beautiful, I wouldn't have minded a slightly more modern room. It felt like stepping back in time. Also I was travelling alone and would have liked a better TV in my room. The one I had was very small and didn't work very well. Overall I had a nice stay though

This property is the real deal, a genuine old country house that, whilst being obviously brought up to modern standards, has managed to retain all of the charm and character that it must have had as a home. The staff are truly exceptional in their attention to detail and willingness to help. They are genuinely keen to make the stay something special. Nothing was ever a problem. The food was as good as it gets. We had one full meal in the restaurant and it was absolutely superb. Easily amongst the best we have ever had, anywhere.

We were very lucky to be upgraded to a fabulous suite the Jonathan Swift room which was stunning. This made a great start to the 2 nights we spent at Castle Grove. We had a personal tour around the walled garden when we bumped into the head chef there and he very kindly offered me a vegetarian meal tailored to seasonal vegetables when he learned we were booked in for supper. Food and service exquisite and extremely civilised stay.

It was really lovely to have tea served in the drawing room. Maybe also kettles in room could work. Nothing we didnt like though :)

The staff were really lovely. Loved the antique furniture in our room and the spaciousness. Nice breakfast.

The place needs a little TLC. Our bed wasn't easy to sleep in and the bathroom is very modern but basic, without even a loo roll holder or a place to put your toothbrush or shampoo when you're showering. Some good added luxuries like robes and decent toiletries. Dodgy light switch for light and bathroom fan. Perhaps my expectations are too high. I'd love to see the original flooring throughout without the protective mats on the ground floor.

Wonderful location for this beautiful original country house and estate beside Lough Swilly. Warm welcome from Irene. We were shown to the Jonathon Swift room, huge room full of antique furniture. The lounge area was one half and down a few steps to the other half with a four poster bed. Large bathroom with shower and modern roll top bath. The dining room had beautifully laid white linen tables for breakfast and dinner, both of which were wonderful. Breakfast was served to your table. Jacqueline and her staff were excellent. Highly recommend.

This was a lovely property with clean comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms and common rooms. We had Wonderful service from our tea welcome, dining of breakfasts, room service, warm interactions with staff and the owners. Pretty gardens. We even enjoyed the company of a wedding party! You do need transport to town to visit Letterkenny with a plethora of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a tasty dinner at the Yellow Pepper and great craic of traditional music and service at McGinleys. Look

The property was lovely, comfortable and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. The rooms were comfortable as was the bed. The location was stunning. We had dinner on site on one evening and the food was very good and beautifully presented. This was the owner's home and the family lived on site. It was lovely to be welcomed as guests in their magnificent home.

There was nothing we didn't like!

Our room was spacious and charming and had a nice view, and the grounds had lovely landscaping. Though the property is very convenient to town, we felt like we were out in the country. This is a quiet and peaceful location. The hotel restaurant is very good, so we were able to drive around the area during the day but then have a relaxing evening at the hotel. The staff members were very accommodating and helped make our stay special.
