Location very good, in walking distance to bus and train station. Supermarket 5 mins walk. Good view of the mountains. Our room was quite spacious with two futon matresses. The discription on the website is a bit confusing as it states there is a dining table and chairs in the room. However, the table and chairs are downstairs in the communal area near the kitchen and lounge,
No chairs in the room.

The facilities were great. The bathroom and toilet were clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We appreciated that the refrigerator has an ice-maker! The common area was also very comfortable and there were a lot of games and activities we could enjoy. They also had bullet boards with a lot of information on tourist spots and restaurants in the local area. The hotel was also not too far from the town centre and there is a conbini nearby.
The beds were a little uncomfortable for my partner and I. Our other two friends are used to sleeping on futons so it didn't bother them. I think for anyone who finds it difficult to sleep on futons should keep this in mind.

I had a fantastic stay at this guest house in Takayama! The place was incredibly clean and organized, with a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. It's located in a great neighborhood, not too far from the main train station, making it very convenient for exploring the city. The staff was exceptional - friendly, accommodating, and always willing to help. The living room was a lovely space to relax, and the kitchen was massive - probably one of the largest I've seen in any hostel! There was even a dedicated computer area with desktops, which was very helpful. The front desk had a reception area and an elevator for added convenience. Plus, there was a large flatscreen TV in the common area, perfect for winding down after a day of sightseeing. Overall, this guest house offered exceptional value for the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, and spacious place to stay in Takayama!
Perhaps better English but they tried very hard and it was appreciated.

Superb hostel with adequate space. I will not have claustrophia though taking a bunk bed along with 10-12 others. Sturdy locker, sufficient shared shower rooms that I simply could use straightaway whenever I needed to. More to mention, the hostel is well located to just 1 min walk to Family mart, 5 min walk to main bus and train terminals. Well equipped kitchen. One can cook and make coffee here. Fridge is ready for guests too. The prominent feature is the clealiness of common facilities. I was pretty fond of the ottoro displays, guitar, comics in the lobby area. Quite fascinating.
Perturbing snoring of others. Even with ear plug, I could still hear clearly throughout the night. But this cannot be blamed on the hostel. It was an experience to be expected and unavoidable.

I loved this place so much i even came back to hang out after i checked out. I was only here for 1 night & i regretted it cause i had another booking. the rooms were massive and spacious it was so comfy that it didnt bother me how many ppl were there. There was so much space. the bathroom and toilets were many and super clean. the bed was clean and comfy. The kitchen & common areas were massive and i managed to meet very cool ppl here. But most of all the staff ! EMMY who checked me in gave me the best tips to eat and visit but most of all told me about an area to hike. It's because of her going out of her way i wouldn't have known or had one of the best days of my life. After check out she would allow me to come and hang & even tried to see if there was a space bed. i would stay here again no doubt.
I learnt that the sheet given to u on the beds is to divide and be a layer of cleanliness bc they don’t wash the blankets daily ..

Very nice modern-feeling rooms, staff even left a hand-written note when I arrived that was very kind. Very spacious and nice common area with books in Japanese and English and other things to do. Nice kitchen you can use as well, and they serve coffee and food. Great value for price. Not far from the JR Takayama bus station where I arrived.
It is a little farther of a walk from some main Takayama sights, but really not too bad. The entryway where everyone takes their shoes off also smelled very strongly of feet, maybe some ventilation there would help.

The check in was a sweet experience with a very nice lady. She explained the common areas and it was very clean and tidy and lovely. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice, clean private bathroom. There was a handwritten note on the tokonoma which welcomed us; it was a very nice touch.
The morning staff (on Christmas Day) was a rather sullen young man. He was a bit depressing to engage with. The two desktop computers are Gateway computers and don't run well. I wanted to use one instead of using my phone to do some work but it was pointless. They should either upgrade or take those two Gateway computers out.

Super easy to find and 10-15 min walk from Takayama bus/train station. Staff was great. The place is pretty spacious, and even though I was in the 15(?) mixed dorm, there was loads of space in the room. Plenty of bathrooms and showers and the lounge area is big. Provided free towel, and there was free extra clean linen to use if needed. I was only here for 2 nights but could easily stay longer. Next time I'd probably book a private room but still shared bathroom and it was clean - it would feel like a hotel room but at a fraction of the price. Oh they also provided slippers. Lots of hostels in Japan charge ¥100 for this. Also had private locker in room.
I wished there was a little shelf of some sort at the bed just for some lil things like my phone and whatnot. But that's honestly a very minor issue.

i booked a family room that can host up to 6 people so imagine the amount of space we have to ourselves! (couple) the property is a shared house but i am very happy to have our own bathroom and toilet... something i REALLY prefer above everything when considering an accommodation... the staff left a welcome note in our room which i find very nice and sincere... slept really well because of the generous room space, nice room temp, and cleanliness of the place... super bonus to have an elevator which is NOT common in shared houses... :) beside the property is a 7-11 konbini so it is perfect for a last minute snack or coffee run :) the location is also great coz it is just a 5-7min walk to the JR Station and if you are bound to visit the UNESCO site, Shirakawa-go, the bus station is super near the place as well... try to visit also the local market and old town area for some authentic Hida beef!!! SUPER yummy! score vintage items in small, local shops that are not tourist priced... we have thoroughly enjoyed the local, old town spirit and even the waterfront side... to me this is waaaaay better than the old town in Kyoto; Higashiyama district that has been super commercialized already... lastly, go to the riverside in the morning to see the beautiful koi and ducks swimming together in the river... it is just breathtaking... oh and dont miss the croissant at Andersen---- DO NOT MISS it... SUPER life changing hahaha!
nothing! had the most wonderful time in Takayama :)

Great value for money in a lockable personal room. Clean facilities. Cozy and calm atmosphere with a little bit of Otaku decor. In particular My Neighbour Totoro, which I appreciated. Common area for socializing and games including a retro game console. Kitchen/dining area for eating. On site laundry. Location within about 5-10 min walk of Takayamas old town, 10 min from Takayama stn with a familymart on the way, and about 15 min walk for late night resto/bar district. Friendly and helpful staff with service in English.
