The location is amazing. The hotel is in the heart of the town. We didn’t use public transport, we walked everywhere . We had a family room which was perfect when travel with kids. Two large separate connected rooms one with double bed and the other two single beds. Something difficult to find!
The isolation. We could hear everything from the street. And also the wooden floor make a lot of noise when you walk. The breakfast room was very nice but the breakfast could be better. Just too simple choices and not good quality. Coffee was really bad.

Very pleasant room (240) overlooking two canals. Large view windows. Small balcony too. Quiet with windows closed, given its location. All the staff were pleasant and friendly, especially Wendy, who was most charming and helpful. The breakfast room on the ground level had lovely large picture windows looking out to two bridges and streets. The breakfast itself was help yourself to a range of juices, cereals, fruits, nuts, yogurts, cold cuts, eggs, croissants, bread, toast, fruit to go etc A coffee machine provided a continuous choice of beverages. A separate charming lounge area provided the same (complimentary) choice of beverages on tap all day, usually with biscuits or small sweets too.
The stairs were a challenge for me, yet in the Dutch norm of stairs they were better than average. Carpeted too. So good stairs actually. There was a strange thing that happened with the bed sheets. My lower sheet always seemed to only make it to the edge of the bed which meant it was always coming away from the bed, and crumpled. I mentioned this was a problem a few times. I asked for bigger sheets but was told there was only one size. This was consistently a problem until the last bed change of about 4 (as requested) over a two week stay.

Fantastic location , friendly staff, and excellent breakfast. The neighborhood is super - tons of sites nearby, wonderful choices for restaurants, and very safe.
Room was a bit basic (slightly outdated) for the cost. As in most of Europe the room is small and little things were missing (I.e. only one tiny trash can in room, not enough hooks in bathroom, etc…) Also, be forewarned!! The stairs are really steep (in all fairness they warn you). We walk over five miles per day … and the three flights of stairs were a killer. Absolutely not the hotel’s fault - just want folks to be prepared.

We love the location of this hotel. Request room 307 if you can... It has a canal view and is the only room with a balcony. We loved being able to watch King's Day madness from our room when we were not in the thick of it. We appreciated the coffee (24 hours) and the free breakfast. We never used public transportation because everything was so walkable. Anne Frank House, 9 Streets boutiques, the Houseboat museum were all super close. Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, ...all very accessible. It's a charming old Canal house. Not recommended for people who have mobility issues but it was fine for us. The hotel does not have air-conditioning but we opened up our balcony doors and it was perfect. We would stay here again and would request the same room!

We had a cute room facing the canal which I highly recommend upgrading to. Breakfast was yummy and included a lot (boiled eggs, cheese, ham, bread, yogurt, juices). Loved the all day free cappuccinos, hot chocolate, and small stroopwafels. Rooms are thin, no fan in the bathroom, and there is no ac, but lovely for a 2 star hotel. Also I recommend Coffeeshop La Tertulia, which was around the corner and had an old lady serve you cannabis/coffees with a warm atmosphere. If you need snacks there is also a supermarket 2 blocks down. Walking distance from most activities like Anne frank house (10 minutes), Van Gogh museum (20 minutes), dam square (15 minutes) in various directions. By Anne frank there is a yummy Latin American steakhouse restaurant called Salmuera which made for a lovely romantic dinner. If you like fries, Fabel Friet Runstraat is close by and you can take advantage of going when there is a small line. Overall had the most incredible stay here and would stay here again!

The location of the hotel was perfect in the old part of Amsterdam and 20 minutes walk to most tourist spots. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The ambience of the hotel was reflected in the decor. The room was a good size, as was the bathroom . The staff were very helpful and any queries just ask and if they could help they would. Would definitely stay again.
Unfortunately, there was no mini fridge in the room, which for people with medication that requires a fridge is a necessity. Getting ice from the local store was annoying. Also, the fridge helps with keeping drinks cold. We were fortunate to have the young guy help take our suitcases up to the room. The stairs are steep and narrow as there is no lift, which we were informed about. Thought didn't realise how steep until we got there. If you are staying, pack a smaller bag to enable clothes for the time you are staying. These issues are manageable, though not preferable.

The location couldn’t be better. 5 min walk from the bus station to get from airport and Van Gogh museum. 5 min walk from Anne Frank house. Next to the beautiful canal, the cathedral, many nice restaurants and shops. Don’t miss a tulip museum and a canal museum. The hotel is very cosy, stylish with traditional featured furniture. I had a single room on the top floor- it is basic but there is everything you need. Shower was great. Everything is clean. All members of staff were helpful and very nice. When booking be aware there are stairs and no lifts so if booking for people with some mobility difficulties ask for the ground floor. The hotel sends many emails making sure that you are happy with the stairs. I will definitely stay there again. Absolutely loved the place and in general Amsterdam!!

The location was fantastic. Easily walked to places we wanted. The view from our room was just what we hoped for. The breakfast room was delightful and the food good.
The duvet was actually too warm, and the only way to be cooler was to have only a duvet cover. We asked about a lighter duvet but one was not available. We turned off the heat in our room and left the windows open to have a cooler sleeping temperature. The open windows were a bit bothersome on a noisy Sat night. But the beds themselves were comfortable. The water in the shower was somewhat unpredictable, both in strength and temperature.

Great location, within minutes on foot of the main attractions. Breakfast was good, the restaurant has great views of the canals and quiet morning streets, reasonable choice of food, very prompt service. The hotel entrance room is locked to strangers, so safety is ensured. The decor in the lobby is interesting with old items of furniture and pictures, it has a lot of character. They're is a great coffee and tea lounge that looks out on the little cobbled street and canal, where you can enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee and a stroopwafel while browsing through their magazines or books. The rooms are a decent size, clean and warm, good storage space and great shower. One of our rooms had a view of the canal on the third floor, with a little balcony and it was amazing. The staff is polite and responsive, I asked for a birthday cake to be stored in their fridge and some cutlery and crockery and they agreed without hesitation. Overall great experience in a great city!
The layout of the hotel and the staircase were a bit strange, narrow steep steps and since there is no elevator, people who find it hard to climb stairs should be advised. It was not a problem for us, though, we travelled light and we are in reasonable condition, so it's not a complaint. It's an old hotel that used to be family-run so if you want character, you have to put up with the drawbacks.

We loved the breakfast- simple, continental but kept us full for most of the day! We loved the large room for 4 people, spacious and just perfect for a city break. Comfortable beds. Staff were super helpful & we loved sitting in the lobby in the comfortable chairs after a long day of exploring and you get free hot drinks from the coffee machine all day! A lovely treat. The canal view is gorgeous. The location was perfect!!! Never more than 10 mins walk from anywhere and there are some really lovely shops and eateries just a stone’s throw away. I personally did not find the stairs a hassle but I am under 30. The hotel does provide lots of warning about the stairs and i am sure some may find more difficult but you get used to it easily!
The bathroom didn’t have a window or a radiator so it can get a little cold and damp but plenty of towel drying space on the 2 large radiators around the room, some condensation on the ceiling but we just kept the door open which was not a bother!!
