The staff were very friendly. Excellent breakfast in a lovely dining room overlooking one of the many canals. Easy access to all the places of interest, with Anne Frank's being very close by. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops around the area. Very nice traditional Dutch building. Lovely view over the canals from our bedroom.

Our bedroom was small on the top floor (4th floor) , so a lot of stairs to climb. No lift in the building. We were only there for 2 nights before moving on to our main holiday, so had two large suitcases which were not really suitable for either the stairs or the size of the room. In saying that if you were there for only a short break with a small overnight case or bag, then there wouldn't have been any problems.

Breakfast was a traditional meal in Amsterdam and was great! Plenty of food, many choices. Wendy, the young lady at the front desk was fantastic! Very hospitable and helpful; upon request she directed us to a nearby lunch spot where, once again, the customer service was superb! The hotel is close to most everything; less than a 15 minute walk to Anne Frank house.

I was totally satisfied.

I reserved the canal view and our room had a little balcony that I absolutely loved. It was so nice to open the window and balcony door and watch evey thing going on below. Breakfast was a nice European simple spread and the room was nice with lots of windows to look out of. I fell in love with this hotel, I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to stay here. Couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Amsterdam now!

The stairs :D Nothing that can be done with that though

it was a in a great location situation near the cananals. The breakfast was great a nice selection of breads, cold cuts, eggs, cheese and spreads. There was also cereal, a coffee machine and some fruit. The breakfast room over looks the canals it was so nice. staff were very helpful and attentive, the property was clean, rooms were simple and clean nothing fancy a place to sleep and shower. I would recommend trying to get a canal view room as they looked great (we didn’t get one but I wish I had booked one) overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again

as mentioned there is no lift and the stairs are very narrow this was not a problem for us but something to consider for those it may.

Amazing location on the Prinsengracht canal. Close to the Anne Frank House and easy walk to the museums. Plenty of good restaurants in the neighborhood. Ask the front desk for recommendations.

As noted by other reviewers: the stairs! We had to go up three flights. It's not just that they're narrow and steep. It's the tight turn onto the hallway at the top of each flight that presents a real challenge. Going down with luggage was much easier, but it still took two of us to wrangle each bag. Maybe a pulley system from the top floor? Would definitely stay here again...with a smaller suitcase.

The hotel was better than expected with free coffee, teas and hot chocolate. We didn't realise there was a lounge which turned out to be quite large and very comfortable - a lovely meeting place for our group of friends after a long day of sight seeing. Breakfast was adequate - we weren't expecting much more than a croissant but there were eggs, meats, tomatoes, cucumber as well as croissants. I contacted the hotel in advance to ask if they had any provision for gluten free and they kindly provided a generous amount of gf bread every morning. The location couldn't have been much better, just a short walk into the heart of the city. Anne Frank house was close by and we were lucky enough to find a slot to visit but do try and book in advance. There are two very good Thai restaurants near the hotel - one was called Billys and only 2 minutes walk away although they were both excellent.

There was nothing that any of us found to dislike although my friend was up three flights of steep and narrow stairs. We came to realise that Amsterdam didn't house anything but steep and narrow stairs.

The single room was cozy and comfortable. The bed, pillow and blanket were super-soft and hard to get up from. The desk was perfect to work at. Views from the upper floor were great, and the noises from the street didn't reach up there. Heating system was very fast to react, so the room was always comfortably warm. The bathroom had a good size, and everything was immaculately clean. Wifi worked perfectly. Even though I was told no room service was provided, my room was cleaned once in the middle of my stay. Tea and coffee are always available in the lobby. The building itself is an Amsterdam gem - an old Grachtenhuis, very charming. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful at all times. The hotel is super-central, you can do everything on foot, no need for public transport or taxis. Amazing restaurants are all around, as well as a supermarket.

As was mentioned in a couple of reviews before, the stairs are wild. Almost like ladders, it was hard to get my suitcase up and down the four floors. Breakfast was okay, but nothing special and the same everyday. The room walls are thin, as is the window, so with a neighbour watching TV it might get a little noisy.

Lovely old canalside house. The public areas are very comfortable and welcoming. The staff were excellent. The breakfast included was really welcome and had a good variety of possibilities. The hotel is close enough to walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum in 20 minutes and the Central Station walkable in approx. 25 minutes. It is far enough from the central area to be less noisy and over crowded. The bed was comfortable and had good quality linen. My room was refreshed half way through my stay. I was very comfortable there and would stay again if I returned to Amsterdam. There was no kettle in my room but coffee and other drinks were available in the lounge all the time. I do recommend the Pompadour? chocolatier for coffee and cake, on the left hand side of the street just over the bridge.

Not a didn't like - but the stairs to my room were very steep and narrow. There could be a real issue for a guest with mobility issues as there is no lift.

The hotel is in the historical center of the city and it was very convenient to reach everything we wanted to see in Amsterdam. The room was quite spacious and quiet.

Hotel and the facilities in it are quite dated. It wouldn't been bad if the owners invested a bit in renovation as the the prices for the stay are super high. There is no elevator which is typical for the Amsterdam so if your room is on the upper floor you will have to use a steep scary stairs. Mind it if you are not a young energetic traveler or you travel with little children. The breakfast during our stay was very basic. There were no hot dishes at all (like a nice hot scrambled eggs), very few vegetables, sweet options were not good at all.
