The Commune Suites is beautifully situated. Nordestraat is a quiet, leafy residential street but very close to shops, cafes, bars and tourist attractions and they are very easy and quick to walk to (e..g the Galleries and Museums, the Markets or the Park). It is also very close to a main Metro Station. The accomodation itself is a small 3 storey residential poperty with the host living on the ground floor then 3 self-contained apartments on floor 1 and another on the top floor (the one we stayed at) with a large communal dining and food preparation area which you can use or not. The room was spacious and clean. the bed and linen comfortable, There was both a shower and a bath (with constant hot water). It was private and quiet in the top floor room and with good multi-channel, multi-language TV. The host was also happy to let us leave our luggage till we left at midday. And we really settled into the local neighbourhood over the 4 nights we were there including meals at a steakhouse on the same street.
The stairs are very steep and although we were fine and got more confident with them over the 4 days (we are in our early 60s but still pretty fit). It would be difficult to manage the stairs if you were elderly or inform or disabled or had probems with walking/balance/mobility. I guess it is pretty standard for tall townhouses in Amsterdam but don't stay there if you struggle with stairs as no lift of stair lift and steep gradient.

A fantastic stay in a brilliant location. It’s very easy to walk (or cycle!) around, and very pretty too. The house/flat has a lovely contemporary style and an equally lovely and stylish host. Our room was surprisingly spacious and felt like a real treat. I also highly recommend getting breakfast included - it is great value for money and it’s nice to chat with Alex, to get recommendations about the city and learn a little about life in Amsterdam. We can’t really fault the experience, but one small thing I would say is that the stairs are very steep (we didn’t mind and many of the homes in Amsterdam are like this) but it is something to consider if you have mobility issues or lots of luggage etc.

The room was lovely, really big, modern and with a lot of style. It felt like home. The bed was wonderful - I hadn't slept that well in ages - and the bathroom was delightful. No noise. There are a couple more of rooms, so the "apartment" is small and cosy. We didn't have breakfast there bit it smelled really really good when we left the room. We were able to leave our suitcase there at 10:30 AM and until 20:00 PM the next day. The owner/manager was also really nice. The location was also wonderful, 15 minutes walk from the city center.
The heating was a bit difficult to use - but tbh we didn't spend much time figuring out how to use it.

The room was very stylish and big which was very nice. The bathroom was also great with a nice big bath tub. Location very central and quiet. We were able to leave our bags in the house before check-in as well as after check-out which was nice as well
For a ‘Junior Suite’ we would expect bottled water in the room, extra towel (for ladies hair), bathrobes (such a nice bath so these would’ve been great). The breakfast needs an upgrade, we had some AH Bollen and bread, a bit of cheese (which already had some white spots on the backside) and ham and some jam. We missed something sweet like a croissant and maybe some eggs (we saw them on the countertop but the lady didnt ask if we wanted eggs). Also some juice would’ve been nice.

The location and the room were wonderful-- quiet and yet close to places of interest and restaurants. The large bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, well-appointed. We did not choose to have breakfast here because there is a very good patisserie close by. There is an air conditioner in the room, installed in a not-so-professional way, but very effective, making our stay comfortable despite the high (30C+) temperature outside.
The only downside was that our room was up two flights of stairs. The first flight was very steep. The second was a climbing challenge with a 5.9 rating but without anyone belaying. OK, that's a bit harsh. It was more like a carpeted ladder. But there are handrails.

- Comfortable bed and soft and hard pillow - Large bedroom / bathroom. Great shower pressure. Shower gel is lovely. - Nice to have a coffee machine pods, tea, & jug. - Complementary umbrellas is also a nice touch.
- Not enough towel storage or hand towel rail. - Hanging space for laundry would be a bonus as there is room in the bathroom - Provide option for room not to be serviced. No needed for a short stay, instead suggest leave enough coffee sugar for the time of stay - Not enough bag storage for two people - Would have a ducted Air con unit

Excellent communication with the host/person in charge of the reservation; lots of space in the room, very comfortable bed, big shower and bathroom area, good lighting, very cute area - close to a few shops and restaurants.
Steep stairs to get up to the room (hard to maneuver with large luggage), outlets not easy to access and use for electronics, quite a distance (approximately 30 min walk) from Dam Square. Also, because of the way the ventilation was set up, the window was open a bit to accommodate the apparatus used, which brought in street noise. Also, could clearly hear other guests talking (loudly) inside the building, at times.

Beautiful spacious room with lovely big bathroom with a bath and a shower. Great location, easy walking distance from the centre but in a really lovely area that is much less crowded with loads of great restaurants and shops nearby! I think our room was better in real life than the pictures.
As all other reviews mention the stairs are very steep, didn't bother us at all but not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Good beds, wonderful and large bathroom with modern shower, toilet and sink. Great location, close to the Mertro, bus and museum. No breakfast but this is not a B & B.
A few more hooks are needed in bathroom for hanging towels and other items. There was only one desk chair. A comfortable reading chair would be a nice addition. We arrived at 8am with luggage but no one was around and there was no place to store it until someone arrived after 10:30am.

very nice host, comfy beds and pillows are finally not too hard like in other accomodations Big bonus: if you are a very light sleeper (like me), this is the place! For the first time i've slept through the entire night without waking up due to the noises - and IT IS Amsterdam! very quiet street but still in a walking distance to the city centre and all the attractions, very clean and nice apartment
