Everything was amazing. Wonderful, confortable, clean and brand-new. Everything you need is here. Perfect spot next to the city center.
The only black spot was the heat ! Sooooo hot at night and unfortunately no fan or air conditioning, we were literally dying into the room... Could be nice to fix this little problem to make it the perfect place to be in Christchurch !

My stay was super comfortable and I am so glad I chose Haka House. I booked one bed in a 2-room dorm and stayed 3 nights. When I arrived, the person already in my room had put the heating on in the room (it was 19°C outside!) and I asked if there were any fans available. They had another room available and accommodated me that way instead; the only one available was at the staircase and next to the bathroom, and despite the slightly greater noise, I was much more comfortable in a space where I could open the window and have it open all night and close the curtains without any issues. As a solo woman I felt safe and I never worried about my things because I could put a lock on the storage lockers. Privacy 10/10, Safety 10/10, Cleanliness 10/10. Would definitely stay again.

The four bed room I was in was spacious. There were good quality curtains for privacy. It was Ensuite and the showers were hot The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful particularly Marley and Diego. Truthfully they were all very kind and very helpful but I didn’t get to know others’ names to mention them. I loved having a nice large kitchen with spacious fridges and a reasonable quality and quantity of China, crockery, pots and pans. The location is perfect in the city centre. Above all it’s a chilled place and has a good vibe.
I don’t know what was up with my mattress but I always walk up with sciatica. Something I’ve never had before.

Excellent location in the heart of the city. Sharp, alert, passionate staff. Very well equipped kitchens, and excellent common areas to relax in. Comfortable beds in nice rooms. Clean, spacious, highly recommended.
The shower mats have some kind of dye in them that transferred green grey to the heels of my feet. Really recommend sourcing from a new supplier. Some bathrooms could better utilise space. For example, a large unused space between the shower and external wall that could accommodate a shelf to place clothes, say. Hand towels are supplied each day, but used by multiple people is not hygienic. Would be great to see paper towels dispensers or hand dryers.

Rooms were modern, clean and tidy. The shared bathrooms were of the type that had shower, sink and toilet all together. Plenty of table space in the common rooms adjacent to the kitchen. Has more than one kitchen. The private room had a kettle which was good for making tea, fridge, and a tv. The beds have shelving that is well suited for placing your drink and for charging devices (has usb port as well as plug). The location is very good as it is only 10mins walk from the city centre and bus station. Right next to the hostel is the Arts Centre that is in a converted school/university building: has many food trucks, exhibitions and a art house cinema. Very pretty and safe area. Friendly staff.
Stayed in a private room: the room was small which was ok for me, though if there were two people it would be difficult to move around the room without bumping into each other (for one night I stayed in a different private room and it was larger). The bed frame was too high: when sat on the mattress, my feet could not touch the ground, and there was no other chair/stool in the room. The bed frame could have either two mattresses made as separate beds , or one king size mattress - my room had two mattresses which meant the mattress would move around. The second bed I used as the space to put my case as there was no other space on the floor. Walls are a bit thin and you can hear doors opening and closing...though I never had any problems of being disturbed by noise.

Love the architecture, the location, the "pod" beds. Being able to do whatever disgusting personal stuff you need to do behind closed curtains is a big plus. Very close to the museum, the botanical gardens and the Avon River.
I don't think you need to take a record of my credit card in case (and I am quoting your check-in person) I have a party and wreck something. Also the small kitchen does not have a kettle or a toaster. I found the big kitchen by accident the next morning. Does everyone know there are two kitchens? It might be less congested if we all do.

Located in the CBD, only a 2 minute walk to the Botanic Gardens & 5 minutes to the Bridge of Remembrance, where all the big brand shops are. Property has been recently renovated, with 2 kitchens & a nice common area. Public transport right outside the property too. Staff are friendly & kept the hostel clean. Beds were comfortable and came with a curtain, light, 2 plugs & 2 usb sockets. Plenty of toilets & showers throughout. Nice outdoor seating area beside the laundry room.
Rooms can get quite humid at night, even with the windows kept open. Not the fault of the property.

Loved the location, convenience and facilities provided within. The check-in process was seamless with the staff at the counter and having the door card makes me feel safe in this space. It was my first time staying in a backpacker's lodge where shared rooms were used but I felt extremely safe and comfortable.
I didn't read thoroughly enough before staying there so I wasn't aware that towels weren't provided for my room. I could rent towels from the counter but by the time I found out, it was too late at night and the counter was unmanned already.

Great location that is near to city centre, though shared -- the toilets are private for one person use, great value for money paid, the staff is helpful for smooth check-in, eating spaces below and kitchen provided. Room is clean.
The nearest big supermarket can be about 10-minute walk away, and the shared room was rather small, so it would be a challenge if you come with a large luggage. Depending on the time of day, the shared dining table spaces may not be perfectly clean due to use.

Very accommodating staff and facility. I arrived after midnight and my access card was in the box outside. Large room with decent bathroom. Bank beds were very comfortable and modern for the hostel. Kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. Bus stop outside that can take you to the airport, as well as shopping centers.
I wish that dividers/curtains went all the way up for the top bank beds. I had a guy pass out in the top bed with his light on and there was no way to hide from the light all night for me on the second top bank. Also, some people talking on the phone in the hallway don't realize that people inside rooms can completely hear them. Had to step out of the room to tell people to take their conversations elsewhere.
