I liked everything, the staff were so welcoming and inviting. The rooms were nice, fresh and quiet. The “mamas dinner” was worth going to the first night to get to know people. I would stay here again and this was my first hostel experience. Very central and easy to find and go out at night and explore. The rooms have their own hallway so there is space between the sleeping area and the common area.

There could have been more food during the night when coming back to the hostel after at night out. There was empanadas one night and it was perfect, thanks to Ivo who worked evenings/nights in the bar/reception and we as guests felt to continue the party due to the warm welcoming back from a night out!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I immediately felt welcomed by the extremely friendly staff upon arrival. Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful and they seem to enjoy their work which reflects well on management. I went on the morning walking tour and Sintra tour and both of these really went so far beyond my expectations. I was expecting just the usual tourist attractions, but we went to places that I wouldn't necessarily have found by myself. Both the guides were also really fun and nice guys who gave great recommendations. The dinners were also really nice. The food was obviously great but the team also creates a lovely atmosphere during these that really gets everyone talking. I made so many friends here, several I am still talking to consistently a month after going home. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were actually so good which I feel like never happens at accommodation. The whole place is super cozy and the beds were so comfortable and the pillows were supportive. The attention to detail that went into making this place is evident as everything, like suitcase sized locker drawers under the beds, is so convenient. Feels like a place made by hostel-goers for hostel-goers. As a woman travelling alone I felt so safe here. But even then I was barely alone. This was the most social trip of my life. I would come back to Lisbon just to hang out here. I miss Home!

The hostel offers a wide range of social activities, which helps solo travellers make friends and enjoy good company. The hostel also allows time for oneself and more privacy alone or in smaller groups. Established in 2006, it is nowadays a well-functioning organisation is able to welcome incoming guests round the clock. Very good located, five minutes from Barrio train station, and five minutes from Praça do Comerço, which has an extensive tramway and bus connection.

Encountered some minor defects in the bathrooms and showers (hairdryer, handles). Some rooms do not have heaters and the windows are not isolated. This could be an issue for guests staying in winter/early spring.

I choce this hostel because of the high rating. For me this hostel is in the top 3 of the best hostels I’ve been to and I’ve been to around 20 and counting. For me Home Lisbon Hostel shares spots with Oh Bangkok Hostel and Amistat Island Hostel Ibiza for good quality of life and bang for your buck. I enjoyed the staff, the nice people in the rooms, the dinner, the pub crawls and the walking tour.

In room 311 it was only two electrical outlets. I would like if it was added more. For each bed there is a usb plug in the wall but iPhone needs usb c so I could not make use of it. I think if the top beds also had privacy curtains that would be good.

Super friendly staff (mostly other travellers). This is not a "party hostel"--the raucousness occurs on pub crawls off-site, and doesn't come back to the dorms--but a social hub revolving around dinners, plus facilities that match the higher price point. Accordingly, guests were mostly beyond their shoestring budget years, with the average age during my stay (in January) in the late 20s to early 40s. I hear the hostel has such a good vibe that previous/non-guests often return to drink at the bar and partake in paid hostel events. Other pluses: immaculate bathrooms (whereas inferior hostels just have cleaners come through once per day, these were cleaned every few hours). Great common space, and wifi in the common spaces was strong enough for a couple of remote workers. Spacious wooden lockers under the beds.

My bed shook all night, even though there was no one below me--presumably from the guest shifting in the top bunk adjoining mine. I had assumed the wooden beds would be sturdy enough to prevent this, but maybe not... Wifi didn't reach my room (on the upper floors) all the time.

It was easy to access from the metro, in a great neighbourhood, great staff, and it was clean. They have all the comforts of home and welcomed me right away. Mamma's dinner was amazing and highly recommend! I had to wait out a thunderstorm the morning I left and even though I had already checked out they said I could spend all day there if needed before leaving on my Camino. There is a full kitchen for cooking as well, and the bathrooms were clean and equipped with hairdryers.

Even though each bed has its own light, the overall room itself didn't have enough lighting so once it's dark outside I had to use the headlamp I brought for hiking in order to unpack my bag. It's fairly minor though. Everything else was great!

My husband and i had an incredible stay at this hotel! The beauty of the hotel is simply breathtaking, with elegant decor and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore all the nearby attractions, shops, and restaurants. The highlight of my stay, however, was the amazing staff. They were incredibly kind, helpful, and always went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. From check-in to check-out, their hospitality made my experience truly unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful stay! Thank you so much.

This is one of the coziest hostels I've ever stayed at! The staff was very welcoming, kind and nice. The rooms were nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was very, very tasy and fresh. When I'll come back to Lisbon, I will stay here again. :)

Only one thing- I noticed the symbols on the shower rooms cause a bit of a confusion among people staying there. There was a shower room on the third floor that was marked with a lips symbol, so I thought it's for women only. I was very surprised when a man entered there...and he was convinced it's a shared shower room although other rooms had a mustache on them. It would be worth re-evaluating these symbols and maybe changing the signs on the doors to ones that communicate more clearly.

The location of the hostel is quite central. The staff was very friendly and always available to help with any issues. Because of the common areas and breakfast room you have a good chance to meet other travellers and socialise.

I couldn’t sleep very well because people were entering and leaving the rooms at different times. Besides, the lockers under the beds are a bit old and it was not possible not to make any noise while opening and closing them. Overall, I think it is part of the stay and the staff cannot do much about people coming to the room at different times.

Room and bed: - Very spacious room and bed. Locker easily fit medium sized luggage case and 25L backpack. Private bed curtains for privacy. Very clean room and hostel amenities. Breakfast: - Great variety of options for breakfast. Activities and social atmosphere: - Great atmosphere amongst guests at hostel. Great activities including Mamma's dinner, a tastely and very homely 50 person dinner on a long banquet style table, primed for conversation and socialising amongst guests, daily walking tours around the neighbourhoods and cultural landmarks of Lisbon and a great pub crawl experience.

Bathrooms and showers: - No room private bathrooms. Floor-based central bathrooms and showers were very humid, regardless of time of access.
