We had a wonderful stay at Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico, a truly 5-star hotel in Ponta Delgada. The breakfast was superb, with a variety of options and fresh ingredients. The staff was resourceful and very warm and helpful, except for one lady at the reception who was a bit rude. The location is second to none, facing the marina and close to the historic center and two great bathing areas. The only downside was that some of the guests did not behave as 5-star guests, being obnoxious and not being considerate, courteous. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting São Miguel island.

We received a warm welcome from the reception staff and they were able to accommodate our request for early check-in. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower had great pressure. The dinning staff was hit and miss with the exception of Antonio who was in a league of his own. He provided excellent service, paying close attention to detail. It was a pleasure to be served by him. Buffet had a decent variety of options and was ok. We preferred the à la carte menu.

While the hotel was in a very central location which made it easy for excursions, the view of the harbour was very disappointing. The City of Ponta Delgada is very run down and needs a lot of TLC. However, the lush oasis and dramatic scenery that exists outside of the city does make up for it. Some of the dinning staff were rude and unfriendly. Very disappointing for a hotel of this calibre. They should all take Antonio’s lead who provides service above and beyond what is excepted.

Staying at Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico has been an amazing experience. My best hotel stay ever. Amazingly kind and attentive staff, they all seemed to give their best to make sure that the guests have everything they need and enjoy their stay. The hotel has an amazing location, great view to the ocean, really nice rooms, good gym, nice pool and I also really liked the bar. The value for money is just excellent. Certainly not the cheapest accommodation in Ponta Delgada but taken all into account, it has exceeded my expectations. I would go back anytime, and will definitely do so the next time I am going to the Azores.

I can mention two things but both are MINOR: 1) The bed was a bit too soft for my taste. 2) The breakfast could be a bit more diverse and changed from time to time. After a couple of mornings it could become a bit boring. But these two points didn't mean that my stay was not excellent. 10/10 points!

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, which exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and professional, the breakfast had a variety of choices, the room very clean with comfortable bed and pillows. Also, the view from the balcony was nice being able to see a part of the harbour and some part the city. The valet parking was convenient. The valets would always put in the car a couple of bottles with water for us to have for the day when they they brought out the car.

The bathroom fan wasn't working very well. It would be nice if they are being checked once in a while. We didn't mention anything, since it didn't bother us much.

Loved the view of the ocean and activity going on. The room was decent size. Just like any other hotel room. The staff was very helpful and nice. They gave us fresh large beach towels to take with us every day. We would just exchange them at the front desk. They had valet service for our rent a car. We just called down and it would be waiting right out front. . Very modern interior. There was someone playing the piano at night when we would get back. Very soothing to have a drink and relax in before going to bed. I would definitely go back and stay at that hotel. I wish I had more time to spend there as our flights got cancelled on the east coast and we missed 4 days of our 8 day trip.

Accommodations were exceptional, location was convenient, & amenities were outstanding. The hotel arranged for dessert and champagne to be delivered to the room for my daughter’s birthday. Housekeeping did a great job keeping our room clean & tidy.

It would be helpful if the hotel had a dedicated concierge desk. The front desk staff was not knowledgeable or helpful with information about the various tours. We ultimately had to go across the street to the public tour company to get help. We were also able to arrange some excursions online for ourselves. But concierge service is something an upscale hotel should offer.

Probably the best hotel on the island. The manager, Mr Alexandru Daralta, was very nice to us, giving us an update to the junior suite, which was spectacular. I would suggest to stay at this place, when coming to Sao Miguel, cause it's right in the city center and the hotel is super nice. We did not had the chance to try the breakfast, as we left early in the morning. This will be our base camp if we come back again on the island. :)

Room was beautiful, balcony was great (overlooking the sea, albeit across the road and thru the cruise ships when they were docked), very extensive breakfast, fun bartenders and great lobby area. Very helpful with super early departure to airport as they got us a mini breakfast/coffee bar at 5am on Easter Sunday. They found out it was my daughter (24 yrs) birthday, and they had a dessert and bottle of champagne surprise in our room one day when we got back from touring.

Restaurant for dinner was very very slow service and quite fancy and expensive. We didn't really need to eat there but did have dessert one night for a bday in the family

Large and spacious room, beautiful comfortable bathroom. The room is equipped with a coffee machine and 3 capsules per day. The location of the hotel is central. The breakfast is excellent and varied. In the evening you can sit in the lobby and listen to a different player play the piano, saxophone or guitar every day. For a hotel parking that costs 12 euros per day, they will let you park on a nearby street at a cost of half a euro per hour, this is better because most of the day you travel the island by car.

The staff were wonderful - so helpful, knowledgable, friendly, responsive, kind. Our days trips around the island in small groups were delightful -- seemed to give us a very authentic sense of the island culture and of course it's incredible natural beauty. I'm only sorry we didn't stay longer! Loved the indoor swimming pool - and wished I had swum in the giant pool or bay across the street!!!!
