Found the location bit in the middle of 'nowhere' around country lanes, but was near, Weston S-Mare, Wells and Cheddar Gorge BUT you needed a car. Liked the layout of Hotel, menu was good, not particularly cheap but food hot and well presented. Breakfast 1st Morning Thurs 13th, bit of shambles. Come Saturday am and Dominika and 'girls' well sorted and very much on it, no inane 'chit chat' got on with the job, VERY professional. Swimming pool and spa area very good, staff very friendly and helpful. Lady on duty Saturday am was very good. (cant remember name).
NO LIFT, missed that!! Did get help carrying bags up to 3rd floor. Not great view out of window, overlooking back of main hotel, old roofs and back service area. Some areas bit tired and run down.

Staff were lovely. Dinner and breakfast were great. We didn't use the leisure facilities but they looked very nice and well maintained. The building is quaint with lovely outdoor spaces, but could do with painting and upgrading of the outside facade. This hotel is not suitable for people with mobility problems as there are a lot of stairs. There is a section that is not in use (being renovated?) that you can see from the lower carpark. I think it would be better if it had curtains or something so we couldn't see in. It's a bit off-putting as the first view of the place. Overall I think it's a nice place for a night or two and would recommend it.

Ground floor room as requested, overlooking the courtyard. Perfectly adequate for the price. Good shower and handrails in the bathroom which proved useful. We had dinner on 3 nights which we enjoyed - good menu. Service was excellent, especially as big parties were in for 2 of those nights and the service staff had to go between rooms! Lovely views from front of hotel. We didn't use the extra facilities - spa, gym etc, so can't comment on those.
A rubber mat would have been useful in the bath - I nearly slipped whilst having a shower. A bit of a problem with wi-fi at first, but soon sorted by reception.

When we arrived there was a very friendly young man on the reception desk who was very informative, polite & thoughtful. He asked us if we were going to use the leisure facilities (as you need to book the pool) and I told him not this time due to my hip & my husband has hurt his ankle, we were given our key card and set off to find our room. Then the man from reception came running after us and offered us another room nearer the main hotel with less stairs, we were really impressed with how he had thought about my comment, a very good example of customer care. Our room was a family room, spotlessly clean, inners on the pillows & mattress cover with fresh cotton sheets. Lots of channels on the TV & a varied choice of teas, coffees & hot chocolate with packets of biscuits. Toilet facilities were clean & fully stocked of towels & toilet paper. We ate in the bar and was greeted by a very friendly chatty barmaid, she was informative and was happy to chat about the building and its history and informed us there was an information sheet available at the reception on the history of the building, that was a good read. Food was excellent, we chose the BLT ciabatta , onion rings & a side order of chips. Good price, well presented & definitely filled us up. We went down for breakfast about 8.30am, breakfast was explained that it was a buffet style and we chose where we wanted to sit. The buffet was the normal bacon, mushrooms, beans, sausages, fried bread, tomatoes & scrambled bread, had a nice selection of cereals with fruit or prunes & pastries, with your toast you had a choice of jams & marmite. Tea, coffee & juices were also available. There were alternatives that you could order like smoked haddock, fried & poached eggs etc. Free WiFi was great & happy with free parking too. Excellent experience down to amazing staff & good facilities.
This is only personal preference & that was that there was no hand soap in the bathroom and altho my husband loved the breakfast I wasn't impressed with the Scrambled egg as it was a solid lump and we had to sort of slice the egg, the mushrooms didn't taste very nice which I personally think they were in brine, but I might be wrong. These things certainly did not ruin my stay and hasn't put me off staying again.

Very nice hotel with impeccable, friendly staff. Room comfortable and spacious. It was lovely to relax in the bar after we had been out with friends. The view across the Somerset Levels was amazing especially in the warm spring sunshine.
There had obviously been a water leak in the past under the shower tray and the damaged wooden frame had not been replaced. This left a slight damp smell in bathroom. Our room however was spotless and very comfortable.

I absolutely loved how they catered to me! I mentioned it was my graduation celebration weekend away and they put me in a room with a lovely view and wrote me a little card. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and made the most of the amazing relaxing hotel pool and feel extremely refreshed. Even with the Christmas party they had on that night we were not disturbed at all, still could get drinks from the bar (just not food but we was aware when we booked and didn’t mind) they had excellent communication with us and me and my partner have said this is by far the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in so far. They had radiaters in the rooms which made it perfect temperature it wasn’t too hot or too cold, it was so cozy and the room had everything we needed. Will definitely be returning in the summer.
Absolutely nothing. Loved every minute.

Night porter (I arrived 23:15 in the evening) welcomed me nicely to the hotel. Room was okay in size but bed has old matress with spring which is not so comfortable. Shower was good but bit annoying in terms of layout with an opening door and not moveable small shower rain head. Didn't use the breakfast which would have been 12,5 pounds.
Matress is old type with springs so not really comfortable... Hotel is old so carpets everywhere and there are a lot of levels with small steps so when you are less mobile contact them to get ground floor room.

The leisure facilities were great and well managed. Remember to book your slot for the pool. The restaurant, bar and breakfast all very good. The room was well appointed. The reception team were excellent. Bar prices were very reasonable and quality of food great
There is no lift and getting luggage to our second floor room was difficult. You could not stay here with any form of limited mobility. The location was quite isolated- you absolutely need a car. The "double" bed was small but our friends bed was bigger than a king so just luck which room you are allocated

All staff were excellent; friendly, helpful and hard working. Everyone from reception, bar, restaurant, spa, cleaning were all great. The pool and gym were exceptionally clean and the pool booking system worked really well and is easy to use. Breakfast was well stocked with good choice, bar food in the evening was tasty, served promptly and lots of options. Hotel location was great for us as we could do local walks from the doorstep. Amazing views from Crook Peak.
Our only negative is that our room was very small and dark. But we knew we had booked a small double so not a complete surprise. However the bathroom was decent and super clean. The hotel looks a little tired in places but it's an old, character building with its own charm.
