Driftaway is a family friendly hub with all the basic necessities you need if you're camping, in a cabin or self-contained. Overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the reserve is a bonus makes it a homey place to stay. Wonderful location, accessible to many shops, Snap fitness gym and Kmart. With a slight hiccups when someone took our parking spot, knowing you only get one parking spot, but the reception lady was able to sort it out swiftly. The bed is comfortable I was able to sleep well the first night. With basic kitchen facilities in your own room, a big fridge, a well working internet speed, smart tv and panel wall heaters makes the room comfortable. I will definitely stay again to Driftaway if I will return to Queenstown.
Cleaners need to look up and clean the ceiling at the women's bathroom, plenty of black moulds resulting to poor exhaust when all the steam from all the showers working all at the same time, the condensation is sticking to the ceiling and dripping to the floors.

Self contained villas were great. New and modern with great views of the lake. Location easy to access from the airport. Nice and close to the airport. Good supporting facilities such as the communal kitchen and kids play room etc. EV charging assets available which was nice touch.
The reception staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming on arrival, and when assistance was requested during the stay. They were noticeably unenthusiastic to help — definite room for improvement in customer service area. Additionally, this accommodation does not accept American Express payments. Fortunately, the booking partner (booking.com) accepted Amex; otherwise, I would not stay here. Be sure to bring an alternative credit card, for credit card hold at check-in.

Excellent location and view over the lake (we were in cabin 3). The room (for there was only one) was clean and had a balcony with a table and chairs. Plenty of space to put down your suitcases and our car was parked just behind us up a small slope. We had not planned to stay here as we left our previous place a day early. The location was right near to the airport was not a noise issue and there were a number of shops and bars nearby to walk to in the evening for food and drink.
We thought that we had booked one of the cabins with a private bathroom but that was not the case and this meant middle of the night comfort breaks had to be done by walking out side to the main block not an issue for us as the weather was dry. It would not stop us using it again although the price was bit hight for one night.

The place is impeccably clean and offers stunning views, while being conveniently located near the city center. It’s equipped with an EV charger, which is a great touch. The kitchen is spacious and even has a separate area for outdoor barbecuing. What truly stands out is the ladies’ bathroom, which includes both a hair strengthening iron and a blow dryer, adding a thoughtful and luxurious touch. We also had a discount for the hot tub which has an amazing lake view!
The only downside during our stay was the heat; it was quite warm, and unfortunately, there was no air conditioning or fan available. We tried opening the windows and sliding door, but that allowed a lot of insects and flies to enter. My son had difficulty falling asleep due to the warm temperatures

Clean, location was beautiful, easy parking.
My only complaint is that they would not allow us to have a later check-out time. They even said no to just 30 min extra time.

First, the stunning location and the view from our room are absolutely amazing! Our room is great for me and my sister. All the things we needed were there. From the mini bar to dining wares, towels, tables and chairs to veranda and especially our bed is very comfortable. Just what we expected. The shared kitchen and bathroom are also clean and new. Thank you! The hot tub is also a plus! Gosh, it was an amazing experience relaxing on a hot tub from our big day. The view is also great. Lake front.

We just stayed for a night at the property and wish we had time to stay more and explore it properly, but its a huge place for campervans as well as chalet rooms. The shared facilities were also nice and the room was very clean which was admirable!
The bathroom and kitchen facilities are very clean but unfortunately, in the washroom, there were many people who were not flushing the toilets after using it and most of them especially at night were dirty. Its not the fault of the owners but as its a shared property and so many people uses it, if possible a 24*7 maintenance would help to keep the toilets cleaner. Also, body wash & shampoo were not provided in the shared washrooms.

The location right on the lake is beautiful. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was roomy and very warm, especially with the heated mattress pad! The shared bathrooms are in the main building, only a few steps away, and they are super clean and spacious, no waiting to use a shower. We didn't use the communal kitchen much, but it was massive, well stocked, and a busy place where guest congregated to make meals and hang out. Little tip, they have hot tubs you can rent for an hour and Driftaway offers 50% for people staying at the hotel! The hot tubs are in private cabins that overlook the lake, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring the area.
I liked everything! Of course I wish the bathroom wasn't in a separate building, but I knew about that when I first made my reservation. This place is a great deal and offers so much in terms of amenities and lodging.

Among the four places we stayed in New Zealand, this one truly stood out. Its fantastic lakeside setting offered stunning views of both the lake and the city. We loved the excellent facilities, which kept both the kids and adults happily entertained. Getting to Queenstown's CBD was a breeze with a short drive, convenient bus routes, or even a fun water taxi ride. Plus, the accommodation was impeccably clean and felt brand new.

The location, the views and the facilities. Very nice place to relax and bring your family. Very easy communication and check in and check out process.
The heaters being by the front door and in the room the kids were in both exposed therefore wouldn't have them on as the kids would have got burnt. Also jumpy pillow was out of order but guessing that's due to the weather so understandable.
