The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, and it had a wonderful, old world charm. It was surprisingly quiet for a central hotel. It was really nice to sit just outside our room in the inner courtyard after a busy day in and around Merida.

The breakfast wasn't the best. The coffee didn't have a lot of flavour either.

We arrived late and the Uber left us on a street where the hotels door were closed, we were knocking and no response at all. I had to call them and they have another door not visible from the street we were. The bed was kind of hard and the steps to go up to the toilet are tall.

Price charged is different from advertised, breakfast is poor and they charge extra for basic stuff such as eggs (and charge absurd amounts), room has no curtains and they woke me up during my vacation to check if I wanted to get my room cleaned

Beautiful spacious interior. Totally unexpected when you look from outside the building. It’s a well renovated older building made into a beautiful boutique hotel. The breakfast was delicious: we had the continental breakfast which was part of the stay and ordered additional hot food for extra charge but totally worth it as it was delicious. Highly recommend. The bed was huge and comfortable and it was very quiet at night which was surprising given the location of the hotel. The staff was super accommodating and polite. Everyone spoke English and totally catered to our every needs.

The washroom is on a top level so those with compromised abilities and can’t walk, I won’t recommend this place, otherwise in all honesty it’s nice to have it secluded upstairs as it gives it a private feeling.

It is close to downtown but not right in the center, so I thought it was actually fairly quiet at night. The courtyard as you can see is lovely. Breakfast is very nice: pastries, fruit, toast, coffee, hot chocolate, juices. Rooms are lovely and have ample space. We had the one with a bed up the stairs. See the pics in the website. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is an ATM right across the street and great restaurants within 5 min. walk.

Nothing. Maybe bed was a little firm for me personally, but I was so tired it did not matter.

A really charming hotel and good value. The rooms were clean with air con and ceiling fan, all around a pretty central courtyard. We needed to do laundry, and although the hotel doesn't offer this service directly, they were able to get our stuff washed (2 bags) quickly for a very good price! Also if you are dashing off early to see ruins, they can give you a breakfast for you to take, which was nice. We rented a car, and parked in one of their allocated spots near the hotel. The parking cost wasn't included, but was very reasonable.

Ceiling fans were a bit noisy.

The room was large with an upper loft for a third bed. A/c was fierce, though that was fine. Free breakfast consisted of a fruit platter, coffee, juice, pastries. The coffee was exceptionally weak - they really needed to offer espresso/ cappuchino drinks.Other food like egg dishes, was available to a reasonable price. The hotel looks like it was a large mansion with insanely high ceilings. The restaurant bar was in the courtyard and has a retractable roof. There is a small dipping pool which looks very nice though we didn't use. Viva Merida is located about 1/2 miles from the central plaza and a block from the small market where you can get wonderful cheap food at Lupita's/

Hotel common areas were hot outside of rooms running a/c. They should open the roof and let some hot air out. Coffee at breakfast was terrible.

Beautiful old building for this hotel, with an amazing courtyard that at night is covered, and during the day, weather permitting, the ceiling is pulled aside to let the sunlight in, the perfect spot for breakfast, which is excellent. Basic continental breakfast is provided, but pay a little extra for other options, which are delicious. Staff helpful and friendly. The room is on split level, bathroom on a mezzanine above the bedroom level, stairs could be tricky for some people with limited mobility to negotiate. But the configuration did allow good use of the space and the incredibly high ceiling.

Mattress is a bit soft for my liking, and the pool is too small for a swim, but otherwise Viva Merida is an excellent base for exploring Merida.

Loved the beautiful decor and traditional feel of the hotel. Had a great breakfast experience, although very European consisting of fruit, juice, coffee, pastries, toast & jam; no protein. Bed was comfortable. Great location for walking.

Bed pillows were quite hard & too large for comfort; had to use decorative smaller pillow to avoid neck issues. Wasn’t aware up front that bathroom was upstairs in the room, so a little issue for knee problems. They should make that clear in their room description.

Nice location- a few minutes walk from the mercado and easy walk to the centre. Great service, nice breakfast with rooms centred around the beautiful central courtyard.

A couple of minor things to note. The bed was really high - so if you’re not very tall it involves practically climbing into it. Also note whilst the bathroom is in the room it’s also up a steep flight of stairs which could be an issue for guest who have frequent nighttime visits to the bathroom.
