Everything about my stay was top class - Lieley and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was spotless, with v comfortable bed and a great shower, breakfast was perfect, there was access to drinks and biscuits throughout the day, the setting is sheer joy, the location is quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
The only reasons I have given this a 9 rather than a 10 are: >it would be helpful to have somewhere serving a simple evening meal, but I appreciate this may not be financially viable. A microwave, perhaps, though this may be against the ethos? >without email on my phone, I missed getting the access key code, as I had already left home. >perhaps a little over-priced. This was one of the most expensive places I have stayed. As I say, though, these are small points compared with all the positives.

I liked the way the building had been refurbished using local materials. The Sustainability Centre has a very interesting programme of courses.
Unfortunately - and this is my own fault for not checking - staying here on a Monday night when finishing the North Downs Way was a bad decision, as the cafe was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and so was the pub where I had looked forward to having lunch the next day, while a farm cafe was closed Tuesdays to Thursdays in September and October. It was a long walk to Winchester.

I loved this place. It lived up to my expectations in terms of its 'eco' credentials and location. Furniture and fittings are all of the highest quality, spotlessly clean, and fully functional in every way. If you want room service, full english, restaurant, bar digital tv etc, this is not the place for you. But if you want quality accommodation in a beautiful nature setting with minimum environmental impact, and on the South Downs Way, you will love this place.
The bed creaked a bit.

Room was lovely & breakfast was great. Lovely grounds & the Eco ethic is excellent - an excellent example of how gracious & comfortable sustainability can be.
For very weary older hikers, the lack of local eateries was really a drawback. 2 miles to the nearest pub requited an extremely expensive pub. Best to carry your own food if staying here. It was also slightly unnerving not to see a single staff member except at breakfast, & contacting them was extremely difficult & frustrating.

The place is an oasis of peace and tranquility surrounded by beautiful countryside for walking. My room was clean and welcoming with a view of the rolling lawns outside where I watched rabbits playing. A powerful shower, wifi and a day-room for drinks and snacks is provided. The staff are helpful and cheerful, happy to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast was so varied in choice and you could have as much as you wanted, from warm croissants, a variety of cereals, yoghurts and fruit to as much coffee and tea as you wish. The whole place has such a warm and happy vibe you feel so comfortable. I was travelling alone and felt very much at home. Well done South Downs Eco Lodge. I'm looking forward to a return visit.
There was nothing that I disliked. If I was being really picky it would be how easily my bed rolled on its castors! Just leaning against the headboard, which was attached to the wall, had the bed rolling away from the wall. But thet was the only thing that I can think of.

Really enjoyable stay at the eco lodge BNB. I arrived an hour earlier than check in so the rooms weren't ready due to a large school group staying the previous night. I had a relax in the great cafe and enjoyed a tasty soup, and chatted with the lovely staff at reception whilst I waited. The room itself was ideal, clean and with a great shower. The building is super modern and feels warm and comfortable. Breakfast is made to order (continental) with a wide selection of spreads and oat or dairy milks. All staff really friendly and helpful. I even saw some rabbits out the window in the morning!

Great location for the King Alfred Way cycle route. Secure bike storage. Bike wash area. Everything as described. Lovely gardens and area.. good kitchen facilities. Great concept to be eco friendly.
Nothing really negative We were 3 guys cycling KAW and just wanted a cheap no frill place to stay. It was clean and warm. Self catering but we went out about 4 miles to a local pub for evening grub.

Located on the South Downs Way so perfect walking countryside. A couple of miles to nearest village of East Meon. On site day time cafe. Garden room at lodge (bed &breakfast) has tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits at any time. Very nice quality and a good selection for breakfast (not hot food which is clear at booking).
Nothing not to like.

Location ideal for the SDW Breakfast lovely Staff great
When booking I asked if the cafe would be allowed to leave me a small bag of pre-bought food. I was told it would have to be left outside. I was told it may be possible to get some delivery services, but not who they were. When I stayed, the centre information mentions cafe food being able to be left in the building and the names of some take aways who deliver. It would have been very helpful to be told all this when I booked, and would have saved me carrying dehydrated food packs for 4 days.

fantastic location, peaceful, great facilities, very tranquil, good use of sustainable products. The breakfast was amazing with excellent quality produce. The manager was very cheerful and welcoming. Great secure parking for motorcycles. Room which perfect, excellent shower and comfy bed.
Hard floor in rooms, maybe a rug would make the room more inviting, I would say the room was a little clinical. The whole building would benefit from some soft furnishings as can be very load and echoed. No USB wall sockets in room.
