The rooms are comfortable and I loved the quirky little touches. Modern decor and friendly staff.

Only suggestion would be to have sheer curtain that one could close especially as our room looked out onto the road and office buildings. We had to close the block curtains in the day which left the room quite dark as the lighting is not bright.

A safe and emergency haven under the Marriott brand that fills the yawning gaps in Booking.com's other site listings, which displayed a dangerous and dramatic fail this time. I originally booked an apartment in the same Melrose Arch complex, and arrived to discover there was NO electricity and no back-up. Not even a torch or a candle. The apartment manager told me I wasn't promised electricity when I booked. Booking.com made some noises but stood by the penalty payment I had to make for cancelling and as far as I can tell have done nothing about their misleading listings. Electricity should be a given. Next time, I will book directly with Marriott because there is no way i'm trusting booking.com again.

From the moment we were dropped off in front of the hotel until we left, we felt very well cared for. Staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Shepherd at the front desk was extremely helpful in getting us an early check-in and assisting when our ore-paid shuttle to the airport did not arrive on time. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! The location is perfect - an easy walk to lots of restaurants and shops. My 89 year old Dad decided to buy some cigars and staff walked with him to a cigar shop. He was confused by the exchange rate and bought 10 cigars at $10 each. After realizing what he had done, he went to the front desk for help. They called the shop to try to get him a refund but he had smoked one of the cigars already and they would not take the rest back.

This place is absolutely fantastic, the staff are exceptional and cater for your every need with such a happy demeanour, the hotel bar headed by James serves cocktails to die for (espresso martini highly recommended) the breakfast is exceptional with both full buffet and individual menus and the food overall was superb. The rooms are stylishly decorated and have everything you need. Location is perfect too as it’s within walking distance of local bars and shopping. I will definitely stay here again, couldn’t recommend it more.

My only slight criticism was that the room was a little cold for my liking but that may have been down to my misunderstanding of how to set the AC correctly.

Friendly staff wiling to help and go beyond the call of duty.

It took time to make us the bed on the 13th March, the stuff in the bathroom was not refilled , the two small towels were not brought every day and the chocolate was not always brought every evening, bad experience in switching the rooms when we extended the stay on the 14th. No points rewards earned and no discounts of 20% in the restaurants even though the message on the TV with QR code promised that .

They give you a Ducky for your bath. Rare to find management with a sense of humour. When I saw that bath after a week in the bush in Zambia, i nearly wept! Quirky decor. Bang on the best location. Food was excellent. I dont think we stay anywhere else in Joburg in the future.. And it is the little things that count. A make up mirror near a window. Much appreciated. Bath that easily takes 2. Proper coffee. Quality iron and ironing board. Crispy linen. Crazy fast room service. Breakfast was bang on. The statue at the bathrooms makes using a public toilet, my pet hate, amusing and intriguing. Oh and Melrose Arch rocks.

Check in staff were uninformed about our group which caused problems with our check out. PR lady responded instantly.

Great location and pleasant staff at reception, house keeping, meal times and bar.

I had requested early check-in because of long traveling from Brussels via Heathrow landing in OR Tambo to begin meetings at 9am. When I came to the hotel after 12pm, we could not get to even have one room ready for us to have a good shower and change of clothes so we could attend a braai festival one of our clients have invited us to attend at 3pm in Pretoria. We were 2 hours late as a result because we only got the room around 2pm and were caught up in traffic. I believe they could have provided us with an alternative.

This is an excellent hotel ... very original design in a good location. The rooms are really nice and the breakfast is excellent. But what makes it really special are the staff who are all incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The spa (which isn't part of the hotel but is affiliated to it) is very nice and the massage was good, but they really try to push product onto you in a somewhat underhand way.

Room was spacious, there was both a bathtub and shower. Staff was friendly. Location was great, was a short walk to restaurants and shopping mall.

There was a fire alarm around 3am on the morning of 17th that woke up all the guests. It was really loud, and we weren't sure if it was a real situation or a false alarm. Some guests proceeded to exit the building whilst others waited outside their rooms. It was all confusing. There was no communication during or after about this incident. Baring this experience, it was an enjoyable stay.

The hotel is beautiful, beds are comfortable and the linen is clean. staff is super friendly, helpful and efficient. I loved that it has 2 restaurants that serve totally different menus. I loved the chef speciality tomato soup and the prawns were delicious.

You have to pay for parking. We had to wait for a while for the security to open the boom gate as he was not at the boom gate when we arrived.
