This hostel is meticulously cared for - which means the guests are too. After an initial difficulty of working out how to get into the building the owner was extremely helpful and helped me with the huge amount of luggage I had. The room was very nice and the location is good too.

With no internet because my phone screen was broken, it took ages to find this property. Street names are barely marked, major roads the same. The ‘hotel’ maps were useless. In the end it was someone in a hotel who nursed me through the route with good old fashioned pen and paper. In no way is this the fault of the hostel, however it is the fault of my/our dependence on what is actually very unreliable - viz the internet.

This is a very basic accommodation as one would expect at a hostal, but the staff were extremely helpful, the location was very good, it was spotlessly clean and did the job for a one night stay, especially for the price. The hostal's own parking was full when we arrived, but we parked nearby in a secure underground carpark for 12.50 Euros. They allowed us to leave our luggage in the room when we checked out and kept it for us while we did some sightseeing in the city.

I stayed in room 202, a double room with its own little balcony. Considering that I'm walking the Camino de Santiago, something this nice doesn't come very often. The bed was super comfy and allowed me to recuperate my energy. The room has its own sink, so I didn't have to wait for the shared bathroom to shave or just brush my teeth. The rooms and the shared bathroom are kept sparkling clean. The hostel is close to a busy intersection, so it can get a bit noisy if your room faces the street. But ear plugs allowed me to sleep well regardless. The wifi works extremely well. Happy Hostal Carrales is located 5 minutes away from a laundromat and supermarket. It's about a 10-minute walk from the cathedral and all other points of interest Burgos has to offer. A bit more expensive than my other Camino digs, but well worth the price in my opinion.

The room was very clean, neat and tidy and all the facilities in the room worked well so no complaints. Good value.

The only thing that would have been useful would have been a vending machine somewhere on the property so i could get a snack or drink. Parking was also difficult and had to drive around for a while trying to find a space as the nearby roads were busy.

The rooms are very clean and bright. The bed was very comfortable and I enjoyed my stay at Happy Hostal Carrales. The Hostel is close to both variations of the Camino into Burgos and a bit before the city center, so you can leave your backpack in your room before exploring the city.

Clean, comfortable, incredibly good value for money. The man running the reception was super-helpful and clearly had a pride in this fab little hostal, which is only a few minutes from the centre of Burgos. It’s available for pilgrims walking the Camino, alongside others.

The walls are quite thin between rooms - however, there are signs at the entrance reminding people and everyone seemed to be very aware and abided by the Quiet Hours.

The location is away from the chaos and noise of central Burgos, but near good restaurants and coffee shops. David (Dah-veed) makes it a mission to provide personalized service to every guests' needs. His polite and congenial personality adds to the comfortable beds, good size rooms, and good vibes of Hostal Carrales. Highly, highly recommended and definitely will come back again.

Hostal was very close to all the tourist sites, bars & restaurnts. All the staff were helpful and friendly.. I had been concerned about having to share a bathroom, but the hostal was divided up into private sections, and only a few rooms shared one bathroom. I did not have to wait to use it at any time. What was helpful was having a sink in my room too.

Overall the stay really met my expectations. Gonzalo was of great help and very welcoming. Thank you!

I really wanted to sleep in and have a smooth morning, but it was not possible. Around 7 a.m. the noise started, people going in and out, talking on the hallways, doors, etc. The soundproofing could really be improved. That's all.

The room and the bathroom were very new and clean. We were comfortable. The location is perfect, walking distance to all the attractions and city centre. The contact with the personnel before arriving was good.

The reception is not open 24/7 but this is clearly communicated from the beginning.
