The room was spacious and nicely furnished, even though the furniture was dated. It had a bath which is always welcome and the car park was just two minutes away - but the hotel only has four spaces so request parking in advance if you need it. The guy on reception when we arrived was very helpful, sorting us out our Basel cards etc.

The room was noisy with sound coming from the kitchens below and other residents from above. The view was of a courtyard and a few more sockets would have been useful.The rooms are a little dated so are perhaps froma time when peoples had less 'things' that needed to be charged.

The hotel is in a very good location right next to the university and in walking distance of most of the main tourist sights. There's a decent bakery several doors down and some very good Asian restaurants within one block (seemingly very popular). Easy and quick access to/from the SBB train station --- but note that the bus stop is not where Google maps says; get out at Spalentor. The hotel building is noticeably dated (think retro), but the staff are very helpful. We could check in at 8 am after an overnight train. The room, and especially the bathroom configuration are also dated. But you can easily look past that given the large room size, and good equipment. Lots of wardrobe space, a modern desk, up to date "pillar" fan, mini fridge, and tea/coffee making facilities. The beds in particular were incredibly comfortable, and also extra long. (Clearly the management has invested in up to date furnishings, rather than the corridor carpet etc.) Also great value for Basel and good WiFi. I would absolutely return.

The theme of old setting but new fixings continued in the bathroom. The shower walls had noticeable mould, which has a slight smell. But the shower was large enough that you could use it without worrying about touching the mouldy parts. We had a room facing the street, which was fairly noisy overnight, since we had the windows open with the heat. Mainly church/clock bells, and trams/sirens in the street outside.

Located absolutely in the centre; apart from providing accommodation, the Basel card is included, which provides free travel on Basel public transport, plus half price to numerous museums and places to visit. Very well connected to both train stations and to the airport. The bed was very comfortable; the bedding and towels were impeccable; electric kettle, tea and sugar were provided.

I had the impression that the place could do with a bit of a refurbishment. They do their best to make and keep it clean, but longer use leaves some traces on all spaces.

Location,staff, both excellent. Restaurant was Indian food in evening with generous sized portions. Breakfast was continental style buffet so whilst not exciting it was fresh and sufficient. The prices were also reasonable.

The rooms are a little dated. They need an update. The carpet in our room was stained. The towels were a little thin. The sockets were in difficult places to use and not enough of them. The bed was comfortable and linen of good standard.

Staff were friendly, were able to check into our room early. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for exploring Basel, only a stones throw from the old town.

The decor is very dated, and some drawers were broken etc, but to be honest if that doesn’t bother you it’s well worth the stay

Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant on the premises with delicious Indian food and enjoyable breakfast buffet.

Clean and comfortable

It was very hot on the day we arrive. I think it’s because the design of the building that the air won’t circulate well so it’s hot in the room all night. We had a fan in the room and it was okay to sleep in.

wonderful location. bus 30 goes from Central station in one direction, and to Deutche Bahnhof (if you go to Germany) in the opposite direction. Also the trams going to the center. And you get free transportation ticket from the hotel.

The location was great--right on the edge of old town and a stone's throw from the old city entrance. The hotel is rustic but very comfortable.

The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very spacious.
