The hotel was conveniently located to all the places we wanted to go to, with tram and bus stops nearby. The room was spacious, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good with plenty of choices.

Not exactly a complaint, but it would have been good if ingredients were displayed for things like fruit salad. I am not allowed to have grapefruit for medical reasons, so although I love fruit salad, I didn’t eat it just in case. Also, the blind automatically closed whenever we took the keycard out of the power slot to go out, and opened when we put the card back. It seemed a bit of waste of electricity?

The location is excellent. It's close to the Old Town but in a relatively quiet street and has a little courtyard at the back. The staff were very helpful. Our room was very spacious as was the bathroom with a large walk-in shower. We were pleasantly surprised when reception gave us a pass that included free public transport and discounts to several museums and boat trips. The fitness room is fabulous and the sauna is open long hours.

The breakfast buffet was only okay. The cold buffet was fine but the hot selections weren't very good: the bacon was under cooked and the scrambled eggs were runny. The bathroom has glass walls next to the bedroom. A curtain gives the user privacy from the bedroom, but there is nowhere to hang anything on the glass walls. The narrow towel rack is inadequate to dry the nice thick towels if you want to be environmentally friendly and use them more than once.

Lovely rooms, staff fired up the sauna (which our 11 and 13 year olds also able to use), looked like good gym although no time to use it. Quiet despite being near a large road, easy access to the main centre and the walk too and from the train station was fine. Loads of plug sockets (we had a mix of British plugs with adaptors that didn't fit. and Euro plugs which did fit fine)

The curtain that the bedroom occupant could pull back to see straight in the bathroom was a bit weird? I mean sometimes you wouldn't want your partner glancing at you when you are on the loo??

Very comfortable, light and spacious room with all the amenities you could want. The room was nicely decorated and well laid out. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice and it was a special delight for me to have the choice of decaff coffee. The hotel was very central and just a 5 minute walk into the old town and restaurants. The staff were excellent, very helpful and kind. Added bonus was a free Basel card which gives you free travel on public transport and discounted prices to museums and other attractions. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Wonderfully welcoming, friendly & helpful staff—from reception to breakfast service. Lovely location, central but not too much that it’s loud. Good facilities & amenities—i.e. gym, sauna, shower, toiletries.

Promised city view turned out to be a view over the office building across the street and blocked entirely by a tree (lovely tree, but still…). Mineral water is not, but should be free. Ok breakfast but could be better e.g. scrambled eggs were kind of cold (but honestly the warm attitude and service from the staff kind of made up for it).

- lovely staff (reception and breakfast), super attentive and helpful - very comfortable room - very good noise shielding in the room - huge shower (overhead and handheld) - very clean - perfect location for exploring Basel - very inviting and clean spa and fitness area

- they’re working on becoming more environmentally conscious etc. but they’re not fully there yet, with individually packaged things at breakfast etc. It would be nice to also increase the willingness to reuse towels by adding more hangers - for example on the wall next to the shower there is definitely enough space. - it would be nice to have a couple of lounge chairs close to the sauna area so that one can relax there in between sessions instead of just sitting on a bench Overall not much to criticize at all - we had a lovely stay.

it was clean, comfortable and well located.

There were a few weird things - when we switched the lights off at night it also cut the power to the bedside plug sockets so our phones didn’t charge. The cleaners are very keen in the mornings. one walked into our room at 09:15, while we were dressing. she came back 10mins later too. This clearly happens regularly as the rooms around us had taken to using the do not disturb sign.

Functional, clean , good shower , bed was good ( pillows weren’t good ) .

They didn’t care to provide decaffeinate coffee Also I ask before I arrived and when we arrived they told me they are sorry but they do not have decaffeinate capsules. I had to buy my own as it’s a shame for every other hotel 4 stars provides for whom cannot take for medical issues decaffeinate coffee. Pillows weren’t good , too heavy and hard .

The location close to the Old city was great. Also had a nearby bus to the main train station. The staff were always pleasant and helpful, and on checkin they changed our room so we could get straight in at 11am. The room was spacious and very clean. It was also very quiet. The bed was comfortable, and there was ample storage space. The fridge was convenient. The bathroom was just fabulous. The walk-in shower was enormous, with a rain shower and lots of hot water. Range of toiletries supplied also. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend this hotel.

This place was easily the best hotel I’ve stayed anywhere as far as facilities. The gym was so outrageously good it could charge membership — we loved it, and went every day. The sauna was fantastic and empty all of the days we were here. Breakfast was fantastic with overnight oatmeal, hot options, pastry, and cold cuts. Easy access to everything by public transport, and the $10 tour of the city from the tourism department was well worth it. We also did the food tour by Basel Card, which was underwhelming. We bought swimming fish and floated in the Rhine twice bc it was so fun. Fantastic staff all of whom spoke English well — a pleasant surprise.
