The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, check-in and check-out went really smoothly and I had dinner at the hotel's restaurant the day I arrived. The lady who showed me to my table (which had an amazing view of the mountains) was SOOOOO nice and helpful, she answered all my questions really well and gave some tips on eating their really good cheese fondue, which came with potatoes, bread, pickles and pickled onions. Throughout my meal, she also checked in on me occasionally to make sure I was doing okay and was so smiley throughout. The next day was Saturday and they offered free breakfast, which included if I'm not wrong: Dunkelbrot and white bread loaves, butter, blueberry and raspberry jams, chocolate spread, hard boiled eggs, fruit, coffee, hams, cheeses, juices, milk, yogurt, cornflakes, granola, and a large variety of tea! They also had a toaster so the bread was amazing after toasting it. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, especially the bread and cheeses! The restaurant is really clean and cozy overall and I really loved my experience here overall. Toilets and showers were also SUPER clean and I was pleasantly surprised at how modern and sleek the shower rooms were to be honest. They provided a top-to-toe soap which I did not use but it is nice to have :)

The dormitory rooms are not soundproof so I could hear the guests next door who were not the most considerate people and played music and videos loudly at night. It would also be better if the doors had locks on them but all the guests were really respectful of the space and people who didn't stay in my room didn't just barge in. It would be great if you could replace the curtains in the compartmented dorm rooms with solid lockable doors as well since it is a mixed gender dormitory. It would also be better if there were bedside power sockets for each bed because everyone had to go to this one corner right next to my bed where all the sockets were at to charge their stuff.

great value for the room and location, bus stop just in front. Had a tiny room with 2 beds just for myself which was great, with an unique view of the hills. Breakfast was good too and staff was kind answering questions. Also I had twice a good dinner in the place, It was really beyond my expectations

everything was good in my opinion, have nothing to complain for what I paid and what I got

The hotel has some of the best views in town. Only a short walk out of the main centre, its elevated position gives a wonderful view from the bar/restaurant. The breakfast was generous and a great setup for a day in the hills. Fruit, yoghurt, cereals, local cheese and meat, eggs, good fresh breads, jams and strong coffee. Perfect! You can use the roof terrace or basement kitchen to eat your own picnic if you do not want to eat in the restaurant. Food was as reasonable and of similar quality to down town grindewald, so with that view it’s defo worth eating at the hotel. They also have a well stocked bar with good beers. The hotel send you a discount card which gives you free local bus travel and discounts in places such as the brilliant sports centre.

The dorm rooms are a little cramped. Luckily it seemed like they don’t fully fill each room so you have a spare bed to put your bags on. So to be fair, for the price, the dorm rooms are okay. I would stay again if returning to Grindelwald.

The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, warm, and quiet. Comfortable beds. Windows gave a great view of the mountains. Appreciated having the ensuite toilet/shower. The breakfast included in the rate was sufficient - nothing extravagant, but definitely adequate to start the day, with nice views from the windows of the eating area. Hotel staff was friendly and polite, though we didn't see them much as the hotel was closed up for most of our stay (common areas of the hotel are locked up on Sunday and Monday, with guests accessing rooms via a separate stairway). Having the hotel closed up during the day was not a big deal as we were always out enjoying the outdoors all day long. Ate one night in the restaurant downstairs; food was delicious. Having the bus stop right outside the front door was super convenient for coming and going, not to mention that the municipal guest card provided free transit throughout our stay. Local buses stop around 18h30, so dinner in town means you're on your own for return to the hotel, but the walk is a relaxed and easy 15-20 minute stroll through the town, so not a problem at all. All in all, very comfortable stay and really good value compared to other options available at the time of booking (which was well in advance). For future trips to Grindelwald I will start here again when searching for/comparing lodging options.

Had not realized when booking that not all rooms have terraces (ours did not). Made no difference during our stay as the weather was mostly too cool to sit outside, but if coming in warmer months, I would double check on this point. Also, for our particular room, while the windows in the room gave a great view of the mountains, you had to sit in just one corner of the room to take advantage of the view. But this was really just a minor thing, as we weren't in the room much anyway. Again, these are very minor points in light of the excellent value for money that Alpenblick offered.

This is more a hostel than a hotel. They have dorm rooms, private rooms with shared bathroom , and private rooms without a shared bathroom (but with a sink) - we stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The pillows are pretty thin, but we doubled over to bulk up. Shower and toilets are separate from each other and clean, but fairly tiny. Our room was fairly big and ours had a great view. (Just above the bar). The restauraunt is closed on Sunday & Monday's - not a big issue as only a few mins walk into the centre. However, note that there are no places to unwind in the hotel The room was clean and has two power sockets + 2 USB A sockets which was lucky, as our adaptor didn't fit into the main plugs. The room has a safe, but no fridge/TV - not that we were expecting them. Great location, free parking, about 5mins walk from Grindelwald First and 15-20min walk from the station. Just to note, if buying train tickets it's cheaper to buy online than in person/at ticket machines. Continental Breakfast served daily between 6.30-10 in the Summer. A mix of cereal, cheese, breads and meats served The hotel is dated with wooden walls/panels throughout, creaking walls and not so much insulation meaning you can hear people talking/walking around, but for the hotel has charm that suited the location and the price was the best in town. The stay was great for our needs.

The location was fairly good. I know a lot of people talked about it being up a big hill but that is only a problem when you’ve got huge amounts of luggage and the bus isn’t available, I didn’t have any issue with it. The staff were very friendly and were kind enough to give me my own private part of the room as I was a solo female traveller. The free breakfast was also pretty great.

The bathroom situation was a bit awkward because the guests from the restaurant upstairs used the same bathroom as us, but it wasn’t terrible. There wasn’t much to work with in terms of making your own dinner, only a microwave and kettle but it was ok.

The family room was perfect for our family of 5! Kids loved the loft area. Amazing view from the hotel! It's only a short 8-10 min bus ride to the the Grindelwald city center/transport center. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. We actually preferred being away from the busyness of the town. The family that runs this place was so accomodating and kind {they even gave us tools to fix our broken luggage). The dinner we had on property was the best meal we had during our stay in Switzerland, authentic and homecooked. Highly recomend this place and we will stay here again if we return.

+ Location and view was fantastic . We were surrounded by snow capped mountains from all sides. Amazing place. + very close to the bus stop. It is also not far from grindewald train station(20 minutes walkable). But when you have luggages, try to go by bus. The bus stop is right at the hotel doorstep. + Breakfast was very good. Breakfast is a buffet. They have boiled eggs, bread, cheese, warm milk, cold milk, yoghurt butter, oats, corn, fruit salad , fruit juices, fruits, etc. + The toilets and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained.. - Room had lots of hangers and shelves to keep our things.

First of all the view from this place felt unreal. I kept looking out the windows feeling like I was in a painting come to life. Also, the hospitality was amazing! Everyone was so welcoming and kind - almost intensely so as staff would regularly approach me asking if there was anything I needed. The facilities were clean, cozy, and easy to navigate/find, and communication was very easy for me as an English speaker. But more than anything I recommend the restaurant! The seasonal dishes were delicious and well-worth the price! Would love to come back!

The only negative during my trip was access to water. During breakfast there were juices and coffee but I couldn't find regular water - and I didn't see a drinking fountain at any point during my stay. I ended up just stocking up on bottled water and then everything was fine!

The location of the hotel was excellent, surrounded by mountains and not too far from the station. Staff was helpful. Rooms and bathrooms were clean.

Microwaves, kettles were only available in the basement area which was not so a pleasant spot (Needed one of each floor). Also not having elevators and with only a sole a spiral staircase it was inconvenient with luggage. The family room (other than the sleeping area in the attic) were extremely tight to move around during the day and not having desk fans during the summer time was also not helpful (especially during the night time when the windows are recommended to be kept shut).
