Our stay at Claudios place „Chalet Ried“ was an absolute highlight on our trip through Switzerland. The apartment is lovely and equipped with everything you need. The views from both sides of the apartment are breathtaking. It’s located in a very quiet and beautiful place higher than Zermatt Centre. If you are going from the central station, keep in mind a taxi drive for ~ 50CHF or ask Claudio for tips to come by public transport. It’s absolutely worth the extra drive. We liked that underneath the apartment, Claudio has a beautiful restaurant with DELICIOUS food and wine. The team is very friendly and made us feel at home. We are coming back :)

We booked this property based on the reviews of the view and it did not disappoint. The views from both balconies are simply stunning. The situation is a little isolated, which we loved. We enjoyed many fabulous hikes and hired e-bikes from the town. The trails for bikes and hikes are challenging. One day we took the train up to Gornergrat (take a coat) and walked down (4+ hours) steep downhill. Visit the Matterhorn experience - worth the cost. We stayed for a week and found different hikes/activities each day. The property is very clean and well equipped. Claudio and the team are fabulous, very friendly and their service is excellent. You can book a very good meal downstairs in the restaurant. The food supplied each day in the fridge was a very welcome bonus - bread, milk, cheese, ham, yoghurts etc... We had a fabulous week - cannot recommend more highly!

Ok - so hands up - I did not read the facilities section fully and there are no facilities to cook and I love to cook! We got round this, so it was fine but be prepared eating and drinking in Zermatt is expensive. We knew it would be, but were not quite prepared for prices that were more than double to that of UK prices. In order to get those awesome views, the property is out of town - uphill 30/40 minutes. We were ok as we hike a lot, but at the end of the day - it could be a challenge. To get a taxi is 50 euros. Our advice - stock up at the supermarket early on and take the shopping up in a taxi. Supermarket prices are also expensive. More pillows would have been perfect.

The chalet was amazing. By far the nicest place we stayed in during our Switzerland trip. Plenty of room for 2 and the view was breathtaking. In hind sight we would have left our luggage in a train station locker and just packed necessities in our back packs. There is no way to get to the chalet by walking with luggage. It would be a 40 minute walk up hill and paved/rocky road eventually. We took a taxi to and from the train station which was 50 chf each time. If I could do it again I would leave luggage , pack backpacks, and rent e-bikes immediately on arrival. Then you can get to and from the chalet in 10 minutes and enjoy amazing views along the way. We would definitely stay here again!

Other than needing a taxi to and from ….the place is a 10/10!

I don’t know where to start. Absolutely epic experience here at the Matterhorn Ried. Loved the remote location. Loved the views, even when the Matterhorn was hiding, Loved the extra touches such as the delicious coffee with daily refills, fresh fruit with daily restock, stocked fridge with yummies, and of course the Tobleones. The list goes on.

Anyone can dig deep to try to find something negative about anything and everything. I refuse to do so. Not

View is amazing! Great accommodations all around! And food is fantastic at the restaurant which is about 20 steps from front door and connected to the Chalet. A super quiet and relaxed atmosphere with best views around of Matterhorn. Claudio has nailed it! Everyone is WONDERFUL!!

Do have to walk a long way from town uphill or take a taxi but the location is worth it. And in winter they transport you with a snow mobile with your luggage.

Once arriving to the chalet, we were greeted warmly by the staff! They offered to make us whatever we wanted from their restaurant. Very accommodating and super friendly! We didn't realize how amazing the view was of the village and matterhorn. Unreal! The place was immaculate. We LOVED the fireplace, stocked fridge, beds were SUPER comfortable. Place was so cozy and welcoming. Very thoughtful details put into everything. I want to come back here again in the future!

I can't really say anything bad about this place but do keep in mind you need to get here by a snowmobile (in winter) so figuring out logistics can be challenging with timing when renting skis, carrying up luggage etc.. you need to have an open mind and an adventurous spirit!

The place is amazing and much more beautiful than in the photos. That peace and silence around. The view is unique. The food is the tastiest we have ever eaten in Zermatt.👍 10/10

It was so lovely! Comfortable and well-appointed, and you can not beat the views!!! The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the food was terrific! Could not recommend it more! The property is about 3km walk uphill on a dirt road from the train station. You can take a taxi, but it is pricey (~50-65CHF). You may want to consider renting e-bikes for easy trips to/from town.

Loved the comfy cabin suite, fully stocked fridge for breakfast, super great views!

It was rather hard to get to in winter, require snowmobile up which Claudio helped to arrange during off working hours, otherwise it will be toooo difficult to bring up luggages up the slopes.
