Although it is a 1 minute walk from where the taxi dropped us off, the location is great. Near to all Stonetown attractions Forodhani Gardens, and restaurants. The breakfast was good. The wi-fi broke down one day but they got it repaired right away. The new owner and all the staff were really friendly and helpful.

It did not have an operating bar, but the owner said that they will be opening up the rooftop bar in the very near future.

The staff are well trained. Their hospitality is exceptional…. We faced a problem with the booking website, however, the owner of the hotel upgraded us to their best room without us even complaining about it… Everyone was just so welcoming, and made us feel at home… The rooms are clean and big, AC working, big windows, yummy breakfast… Highly recommend.

If you wish to dive into the ancient Arabic world, at least to feel it, than the Al Johari is your place. The arabic spirit is around you, where ever you are in the hotel. The very central location of Al Johari makes each discovery of Stone Town with its labyrinth of numerous alleys more easy and you reach the places to be weithin a short period of time, let it be day or night time.

The tiny neighbourhood doesn't make Stone Town a calm place, a lot of sound is around you. However, that is the character of Stone Town.

This is by far the best value hotel in the best area of Stonetown. The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful. My second time to stay here and I will always come back. The view from the rooftop restaurant is amazing. 10/10.

There is nothing I didn't like. Any negative reviews I have read have all been resolved. You can book with confidence.

Perfect location & close walking distance to everything. We were unhappy with our original accom in Stone Town and moved to Al Johari for 2 nights & will be returning for 1 night on our way out of Zanzibar again! Staff are lovely and friendly, great value with aircon room. I’d say we only missed having a pool to cool off in the October heat!

Loud music all night from close bar. It's so loud as you would turn on some stereo on max volume in your room. I know that owner has nothing to do with this loud music, but at least they could give earplugs for guests. Furnitur and inside of the rrom are in need of replacement, because they are worn.

It was amazing, everything was very beautiful, inside they have beautiful arhitecture, ausom doors, the stuff was so nice and friendly, breakfast was very good. The rooms are lovely. It is situated in a very good place near to everything. I can't wait to go back again.

Breakfast was very good. Staff were nice and friendly. Location was excellent.. a few minutes from the centre of Stonetown, with several options for eating out nearby. Wi-Fi was generally good and bar upstairs was handy.

The Location Of The Hotel Was Really Amazing So Close To The Beach, So Close to The Night Market. The Rooms Are A Good Size, Great Big Clean Bathroom, Comfortable Bed. The Rooftop Breakfast Has A Wide Variety Of Options Which Was Nice.

Al Johari is heritage-rich haven, full of lovely artifaxts, artworks and carvings. It feels old and has plenty of modern comforts. It position near the seafront at the quieter end of Stonetown is very valuable. And the rooftop restaurant was lovely; breakfast with a view!
