We had a wonderful stay at the Al-Minar. Everyone at the hotel took such good care of us and helped us in any way they could. The hotel is very well located and the room was very quiet. Air conditioning worked perfectly fine and was such a blessing at night. We enjoyed our breakfast at the rooftop terrace, which also offered such a nice view. Overall, we felt very much at home here and would stay at the Al-Minar again at any time.

The selection of hot beverages for breakfast could be a little broader. Other than that, there's really not much to complain about.

Having experience with other hotels in the neighborhood of Stone Town, Hotel Al Minar surprised me in everything. The rooms and the entire hotel are extremely clean and are constantly cleaned. The hotel team is cheerful and always ready to help. When I entered the hotel, I never felt like I was just coming to a hotel. I felt that I had arrived at home, where I was welcomed with joy. When I woke up in the morning, I was confused because I couldn't tell if I was at home or in the hotel - the night was so refreshing and the bed was familiar. The breakfast offered at the hotel is a la carte, prepared according to your wishes. I really like the idea of the new manager of the hotel restaurant to offer, in addition to breakfast, small snacks at other times, as well as lunch and dinner The room has everything necessary to satisfy even the most demanding wishes. If racks or shelves are often missing in the utility rooms, Al Minar Hotel has also thought of these little things. The shower room is spacious, the water pressure is very good, hot water is available around the clock. Can complain a little about the noise from the AC outdoor unit motors. Either because the units are old or poorly maintained. I preferred to turn off the AC and use the fan. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service and security. The location of the hotel in the city center is very good - you can reach the beach of Africa House or Tembo House or the Memories of Zanzibar store on Kenyatta Street in a maximum of 3-5 minutes on foot. There are enough places to eat and drink near the hotel to feel relaxed and well. The hotel also offers tours and taxi service for a reasonable price.

The location was very central to the main tourist area in Stone Town. The check-in was super quick and easy. The staff were friendly and helpful - I needed to attach a button and they had a needle with cotton available. The room was clean and comfortable. The value for money was spot on. It is worth paying a little bit more than the cheaper options, for that extra bit of comfort, not to take away from the cheaper options in the area. One gets what you pay for so I am happy with the value I got for this price. The beds are comfortable, the AC and fan worked well, and there is hot water in the shower.

Nothing really. The noise from construction in Stone Town is something that cannot be avoided, as there is maintenance and development happening all over.

The room is rather small, but it's comfortable for a few days. The bathroom is okay and clean. Breakfast is plentiful with fresh fruit, tea, instant coffee, fruit juice, eggs, pancakes, waffles and toast. The staff is incredibly professional, friendly and attentive to all needs. The location is excellent for exploring Stone Town and serves as a convenient base for excursions to Prison Island and Nakupenda. A notable convenience is the ability to pay in Tanzanian Shillings, US Dollars or Euros, as well as credit cards.

The rooms and toilets were very clean, breakfast was good and sufficient. Overall i think it's the staff of this hotel that will make me go back. Thank you Hassan, Joshua, Martina,Nova and the lovely lady at the reception.

Nothing really, everything went well

The staff are extremely kind and welcoming, very attentive to guests needs. They arrange everything for you, tours, etc. Really, you could not ask for more available hosts. The breakfast was also substantial

The views from the rooms are not great as you are in the middle of the city, with buildings all around. That is not their fault though. There is a rooftop restaurant which is breezy but no sea views. I understand that they are in the middle of acquiring the property next door where there will be a rooftop restaurant with sea views, so I look forward to that on my next trip. The espresso machine was not working so it was instant coffee which was not great.

Staff members where helpfull and nice all of them from the reception , cleaners , and restraunt , very good breakfast make you feel full all over the day hhhhh , delicious. Location was great , near to all historic places , and near to the beach only 2 min walking , very nice area .

Restraunt menu needs to include more varieties of food , and unfortunately thay work only for breakfast, restraunt closed thereafter . The rooms needs sound proof , because it is narrow and situated on the couledoor . Annoying smell of wood bcz of humidity , need to be fixed with oud or perfume . But this disadvantages didn't disturb me alot . Overall it is fabulous place to stay in stone town , if I come back I will come again to this fabulous hotel

Great historical hotel in a quiet location close to all of the Stone Town attractions and within walking distance of everything a visitor would want to see. Friendly staff, clean rooms with satellite TV....

Breakfast was identical every morning with no variation at all, which I did discuss with the manager. Limited hot water was not really enough for two people to shower separately as the geyser is just too small...this is unfortunately true in many hotels in Zanzibar as they all use the same minitiature geyser.

The hotel is in a quite central part of town close to nice restaurants and cafes. The air conditioning works very well and this is useful as it is usually very hot. All areas are very clean.

The breakfast is not bad but we expected bigger portions. Τhere is additional significant charge when paying by credit card.

Very nice people. Nice and clean room. Very good shower (great water pressure) The manager cared a lot. He was open for some good talk and always helps you by chosing the right restaurant. The hotel is great located!! Taxiservice just 1 minute away. It is located in a small alley - no cars and only very few people. No noises from outside Only about 1km from the ferry.. we just walked fron the harbour. Just along the beach. No need for a Taxi. Breakfast was good (served on a nice terrace) We would definitely go there again.

Bad smell from the drain. Maybe a plug could help. There was a ventilation which helped a little as long as you turned it on. You can just close the door of the bathroom so you do not smell it in the sleeping room. Noisy in the morning when the breakfast starts. We were in room 205 which is close to the stairs and just underneath the terrace were they serve breakfast.
