Arrived a bit earlier than check in but wasn’t a problem the guy who runs hotel was very friendly check us straight in. Did have to pay for parking I did read this after I read a reviews so please take note only £5 not bad for of street parking could of park on street near by but for pease of mind worth paying hotel was pleasant worth what we pay considering most hotel in Newcastle were double the price only 6.10 for taxi into town same back to hotel hotel was clean and warm

Not much to not like if I was being very picky would probably of like a low floor would recommend asking if you have difficulty with stairs

the price was great, it was well connected to the airport even at night, only took 10min by bus to the city center, it was a pretty cute building with a garden, the room was comfortable… I would recommend staying here

it was generally clean but not under the bed, the bathroom was bit old with some rust in a couple places but still clean and alright, the night we stayed it was a bit noisy from the bar (but to be fair, we went to sleep pretty early and there was a football match, so I think it’s justified and didn’t really prevent you from sleeping or anything)

The staff were very friendly, the bar was cheap, location was great for what we needed, the decking that ran around the hotel was great plenty seating areas inside and out, playpark there in the garden but no kids allowed?

The shower tiles were disgusting with mould & the fan was really noisy that you couldnt use it which let the ensuite down, the blinds were cheap plastic, the mattress dipped in the middle because it was so soft & cheap, no kettle in the room either which I overheard other guests mention, you could get coffee in the morning but not till after 9-9.30am, we walked to Greggs instead

I liked my stay at Clifton. The staff are friendly, the room was small but functional, en-suite. It was clean, relatively comfy bed. There is a bar onsite where one can purchase drinks. It’s in a quiet location. Good value for money.

I don’t understand some of the very negative comments on booking.com. It’s not a 5 star hotel but middle range and it does the job. If you’re after an average budget friendly place then the Clifton is the right place. It could be closer to town but it’s got good transport links and it’s walkable.

Most of the staff very friendly especially boss Andy & the other night staff but can't remember his name who booked us in down to earth and very funny ( for an arsenal fan 🤣) They have regulars who where great to chat with and made us welcome definitely will be back thanks for a great stay Shaz n John B

Our room was up in the rafters 😂 lots of stairs up not good for just having a hip replacement but once at the top comfortable room but shower screen fell off half way through my shower and nearly knocked me out then I got out and went flying as tiles are dangerous when wet ! Please put a warning sign up 👍 also bedside draw full of rubbish from previous guest we removed it as didn't bother us but might others Shame they don't do breakfast I'd of happily paid more for this!

Was clean and secure. Bed was comfortable. Shower was warm and had good flow. Definitely would stay here next time I’m in the north east.

Room was quite full, but not to a degree that it caused any problems: ie. Couldn’t open the bathroom and bedroom door fully at the same time, and the shower door wouldn’t open fully due to the toilet. However, these are very minor things, and didn’t cause me any problems. I was quite worried on the day of arrival, as I saw that there were lots of very negative recent reviews. However, my experience was very pleasant and I don’t recognise any of the things that people mentioned in the bad reviews.

It was very clean, quiet location with a lot of places to eat international cuisine. It is very quiet but because not many guests if busy on your floor then will be noisy. Rooms are varied I was in a single room in the last floor it met all my needs.

No WiFi in the rooms. I think in modern age it's easy to sort that. I would have loved to enjoy Netflix from my laptop. But there is TV in the room so all isn't lost.

I could not have had a better experience than my stay at this hotel .It`s a beautiful building with extremely clean and comfortable facilities with a very friendly staff who made me feel like it was a home from home .Perfectly situated to get in and out of town quickly in a great area for shops and walks .The staff looked after me really well and were very laid back and friendly .Everybody staying there seemed to have a great time .Ten out of ten and exceptional value for money .

Very friendly staff. Andy behind the desk couldn’t do enough for us, and if he decides the hotel game isn’t for him, I’m sure he’d be able to get by as a stand-up comedian!

Wee bit further out from the city centre than I would liked, but it’s quick enough getting a taxi, although the £4/£5 fare has recently gone up to £9/£10. The rooms are basic, but do what they say on the tin - at the end of the day, who goes to Newcastle to sit in a hotel room anyway!?

The room was absolutely fantastic. While some of the items seemed a bit dated and the TV didin't work, the room was incredibly spacious and the beds where so comfortable and soft! The duvets where incredibly thick and warm, which while it may be too warm for some during the summer heat, I found it perfect. Each bed had a pillow which must have been made out of clouds themselves - they where so soft and amazing. Each bed also came with a soft blanket and a couch pillow which was useful. Overall, in a way it was inconvenient, only because it all cumulated to me not wanting to leave the bed nor the room ever! As for the rest of the room, the window opened quite wide and when closed managed to block out a lot of the noise, which was helpful for when I had to take a nap during daytime hours from exhaustion. There was a set of blinds and blackout curtains which was even better and very much appreciated. The room also came with a desk and chair for items, a sink, and a closet for clothes, which contained a mirror I had to move to near the sink to find any use from it. Overall, it was a fantastic room and I would definitely love to stay in it again. The rest of the hotel was very cosy as well, with soft carpets all over and a accessible bathroom which, while quite small and claustrophobic, had everything you'd expect. The hotel had lots of outdoor seating and even a mini bar with beers on draught which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd love to stay there again.

It was sometimes difficult to get attention or find someone to check in and out, and to ask general questions. It was also a bit of a pain with check in times, where different places had conflicting information about when was the best time to check in. The location, while quite scenic and nice at the hotel itself, was in quite a isolated area of town, and getting there was a nightmare at first until I found out about being able to take electronic scooters to a space nearby on my last day. All of this however where quite minor annoyances.
