Lacet House was the perfect location for our Lake District stay. Close proximity to local restaurants, pubs and shops in Ambleside, as well as other nearby tourist spots, such as Bowness-on-Windermere and popular hiking routes. Louise and Shaun were excellent hosts, super friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety on offer. Our bedroom was very spacious and impeccably clean. We all hope to return to Lacet House in the future and would happily recommend it to everyone.

There is nothing to dislike about this property.

I visited this weekend with my dad and we had another great stay at Lacet House. Louise & Shaun are both so friendly, happy to help and extremely knowledgable about the area. Our twin room was tidy, spacious & modern, with a nice view and an en-suite which was perfect for our 2 night stay. The breakfast is cooked to order with high quality ingredients and was super tasty to set you up for the day. The fact that there is also a private car park for guests is also an added bonus, particularly given the very central location, this is a great perk! If you are looking for somewhere centrally located in Ambleside, with comfortable rooms & lovely hosts, look no further.

Nothing to add here - this is a wonderful B&B.

Very central location, traditional beautiful building, exceptionally helpful, accommodating and friendly staff. Louise and Sean were always on hand and super hosts! Rooms had space, and comfort, were decorated lovely with good facilities for tea, WiFi, plug sockets, muddy boots and always a delight for me, towels that were big enough to cover you! Beds were very comfortable. No wardrobe but the hangers on the walls were adequate for us. Catering off pre order breakfast menu options was very accommodating. Breakfast was served between 8&9am each day which suited us and was pretty good! Louise was on hand constantly and made sure we had everything we needed and Sean cooked a mean breakfast.

Nothing major at all! Parking was a small issue but we juggled it with great management from Louise and Sean. Might be an issue if you have a big car or more than one car per room. A bit of noise from those in rooms next door and noise from those in the above rooms walking about, traffic outside too might disturb but luckily we brought ear plugs. TV was missing a few key channels, even after we re-tuned it but the WiFi was great. Lighting could be a bit better in the room, especially when looking in mirrors in dark days or on evenings to go out and getting ready and bathroom internal window could be blocked to prevent light pollution into the bedroom.

The owners were attentive, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service throughout our stay with a genuine personal touch which was really lovely. The location, the hosting, breakfasts and room were all excellent. The hosts are also very knowledgeable about all the best walks in the area and were always happy to share this advice with guests even taking the time to show this on maps etc… Definitely exceeded our expectations and would definitely stay again. The reviews don’t lie!!!

Nothing!

Fantastic hotel/guesthouse - nestled in the heart of Ambleside. Fab location, transport and stay. Great room - clean and comfy. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming, too. I rang up ahead of time to request a little surprise for my partner’s 30th birthday, and they set up balloons and cake in the room, without hesitation. Hugely appreciated and made the stay very special. They really went above and beyond - we’ll be sure to stop again!

Lovely little B&B in the heart of Ambleside with all of the shops/restaurants within 5 minute walking distance & only a 10 minute walk from the lake. Louise & Shaun were great hosts who were super friendly, knowledgable and helpful & did such a fantastic job of keeping things running smoothly. The room was decorated tastefully and was a nice size. The breakfast was fantastic too - cooked to perfection & with real good quality ingredients. Not many places in central Ambleside have parking but this place does, another great benefit. The car park is small so, if the B&B is full, you will inevitably end up blocking somebody in or being blocked in yourself, so just be mindful that you may need to rejig the cars to allow people to come and go as they please. Louise & Shaun knew we needed to pop out so helped us sort this with the other guests who were all super friendly too!

Nothing! We wouldn’t hesitate to come back here and would recommend it to others wanting to visit the area too.

Just arrived home from a lovely two night stay at Lacet House. What a great choice we made! From the moment we arrived the hosts, Louise & Shaun made us feel very welcome. The guest house was spotlessly clean & really well located in the centre of Ambleside. Shaun cooks up a delicious breakfast, there's plenty of options to choose from too!  Louise provides great service & on hand to offer local knowledge & advice. Our room was located on the top floor & was really well equipped & presented, tv, hairdryer, bottled water, biscuits, tea & coffee.  Would definitely recommend Lacet Guest House. Thanks again & we'll definitely see you again sometime soon.

The breakfast was fantastic, especially for someone with food intolerance. The hosts offered a variety of gluten-free options and nom-dairy milk alternatives.

Only slight negative thing was that the bathroom was separate to the bedroom (involving walk across public landing), but it was dedicated to the room, private and the shower was very good (and shower gel provided was lovely, for both male and female).

The hosts were fantastic, welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. The room was large, comfortable and very clean and warm. Location was excellent for exploring with great nearby places to eat, and having parking onsite was an added bonus!

A more powerful shower to take off all the mud would have been great, but generally we were really happy with everything during our stay :)
