The Ymca was an inviting friendly place. Welcomed straight away by Chris and akosh. They were very accommodating, happy, friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure people. Enjoyed their stay, with extra pillows if needed and blankets/quilts. The free breakfast in a morning was lovely and had everything there we could help ourselves to and fill our bellies up ready for the day ahead. I did have an issue with 1 member of staff who told my daughter and I to put extra layers on at bedtime as it was freezing in our room and the radiator didn't work. I did report this to Chris and akosh who were mortified and apologised profusely.

The attitude of 1 member of staff telling us they were full so couldn't have extra pillows and who told us to put extra layers on when our room was freezing cold. On the 2nd night I spoke to akosh who went straight away and found us an extra quilt each but couldn't find extra pillows (but at least he looked and tried for us). They could do with brand new pillows or them. Given a wash as a few had stains on them.

Location was great! Figured out after the first day that while one side has many (25?) steps to get to the hostel, walk around a street and get in from the opposite side which has only 2-3 steps ;) Staff was really kind and on both occasions helped me with issues with the room and getting my suitcase upstairs. You will find a communal kitchen with a kettle and the possibility to do laundry.

My first stay had an issue with the system: I was put into a mixed dorm even though I specifically booked a female only dorm. It was chaos at the front desk at this time (Friday) since at least another person had issues with their booking. The guy that was working let me sit down whilst he tried to sort it for me. It took a while but he stayed calm and kind. In the end he got me into one of their spare rooms. The door handle of that one was falling off, the reading light did not work and the socket was a bit unhandy/out of reach from the bed but I was very thankful to have a decent room.

International vibe; helpful and polite staff; faculty to take food into eat; water machine; central location

It’s a shame to write negatives because our stay was very enjoyable. These are comments I hope will improve the experience. We were in room 126 and the ladies facilities had a wet floor always; the shower head was not fitted proper in one of cables; the shower was left running… small notice to say turn off taps; toilet seats were loose… and then at breakfast… the toasters did not work well which led to people waiting a lot… better quality toasters or checked regularly; washing up facilities… sink not big enough& drying board too small; not sure it’s worth the mess of wet floor… long queue. Good idea to get everyone involved in clearing up; but trays on trolleys work well with someone washing out the back…

the girls bathroom on the third floor only had toilet paper in one toilet and on Sunday morning had no toilet paper. Breakfast BBCwas great. Room was clean, reception staff Saturday were brilliant. Advising that thee was tea/coffee and biscuits and telling us times for breakfast be and info about what was going on like a tourist information service. It gas c a really lovely vibe and was very welcoming with a truly international clientele and catering for a wide demographic from travellers to local homeless who wanted a bed for the night and everyone was treated with respect and courtesy. The reception staff were excellent.(Two men) it was clean and basic. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of jam and cereal options and the self serve/ clear/wash your stuff worked well in the main but some nationalities left heir stuff on the tables for the invisibkecwaiting staff to remove and wash. Maybe a note on the door and by the kettle/toaster

Shared girls bathroom on third floor only had toilet paper in one toilet on Saturday and no toilet paper at all Sunday after breakfast. I took some from the open cleaners cupboard on Sunday but it was very busy. The shower water doesn’t drain so Saturday evening before the theatre Cx abd Sunday morning there was a lot of sitting water and you needed crocs or flip flops. I hadn’t realised you didn’t get a towel! However, these are due to the fact it was incredibly busy and the bathroom scenario was due to being here Cx at peak times. Shower wait on Sunday am was at least an hour.

The building and Courtyard are very nice. It is a community center and it serves people from all walks of life. The lounge and TV area are very comfortable The kitchen and dining area are serviceable. I did not expect this to be a luxurious stay. I expected it to be exactly what it was a functional Affordable option. The staff were professional, and very helpful. You need to pay attention to the directions because if you come up on the Broad Street side, you go up a few steps past another building and into the courtyard so you don’t enter off the address on the street. If you go around the other side where it says why you end up going up to very steep flights of steps. Just be aware .

I wish the beds had a little bit more padding or cushion. However, I understand that they are conserving resources and they do a lot of good for people in the community and people with urgent needs so I’m not really complaining. Be aware that there is no lift . But putting lifts in is very expensive. I felt really good about my stay because it was exactly what it was supposed to be and it’s contributing to the community.

The Y Hostel is located at a pretty good spot. Not too far from some cool pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and places to check out as a local or international tourist. The common kitchen has everything you need to cook yourself a good home made meal and plenty sitting space with plenty kitchen utensils to go around. By far one of the best hostel we’ve been to.

Our only issue would be the double bed could probably be replaced as we could feel the springs of the bed. But overall we slept just fine.

Had a lovely stay at the YMCA in the City of Bath. The hostel was lovely and cosy and had a great communal kitchen with great cooking facilities and a nice communal area where you can chil, which was lovely. The beds were comfortable, too. Staff were genuinely very friendly and helpful, too. The hostel offered nice breakfast options at the weekend, which was very nice as well. The hostel was in a great location as it is right in the City Centre of Bath with great tourist attractions and lovely independent shops and cafes as well as beautiful architecture and history. Bath is a beautiful city. It is always a pleasure to visit this beautiful city.

Nothing I didn't like.

This hostel has a perfect location - it is right in the centre of Bath. The courtyard leading to the entrance can also be accessed from both sides - meaning one can get there either from Broad Street or Walcot Street. Our (2 bed twin) room was clean and had everything one would expect in such a place. A washbasin was a very welcome fixture. The staff at the reception was exceptionally kind and helpful. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to store our luggage after checkout (it only cost GBP 2.00 and made it much easier for us to do some more sightseeing), as well as to rent towels and purchase (very cheaply) items like shampoo or a toothbrush. We were also offered free breakfast - it was pretty basic, but perfectly sufficient. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and will certainly book a room in this hostel if we ever visit Bath in the future.

In the morning, the ladies' bathroom ran out of toilet paper. The wi-fi was also not entirely reliable - but, most of the time, it did work.

We liked the atmosphere and the location - it was close to everything but still quiet and tucked away. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom, the room was bright and welcoming and spacious enough for our two night stay.

The shared bathrooms were not great but ok for a night or two, one of the toilets was not functioning and the other working one started a loud rumbling every time it was flushed that continued for some time and could be heard in the rooms. There was a bit of flooding out from the shower into the main bathroom area as well.

Beautiful history building, clean and convenient located in the centre of Bath. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Very good price range for my stay. I was very well informed before coming, of all the conditions after my booking, like where to park. Gorgeous and friendly cat welcoming you in the morning.

The first night of my stay, the room was really cold due partially to the single glazing window and being partially open. Lack of city view which was advertised on the site, I was staying in Dormitory 1. There is no parking on site, although there is parking available close by in Broad Street Car Park
