The beds were comfortable. Would have been a lovely view if the windows were clean. Great location if you are looking to shop. 10 minute walk to train station. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Our bedroom was so noisy because the windows are not soundproof. It was like the traffic was inside the room. We got very little sleep as a result. Also the windows could do with a good clean, full of cobwebs and dust. The rooms are a little tired. Not 4 star standard. The mini bar was un-stocked and not cold. Manager moved us to another room which was much better. Please note the hotel is undergoing reconstruction outside and has scaffolding with work being carried out from 9am to 5pm.

The breakfast buffet was really nice and the staff really helpful at both the front desk and the breakfast room. The rooms were nice and spacious and had a good amount of sockets to charge equipment.

The room on the road side is a bit noisy. It sounds as if it is not properly insulated. The room was also very warm and the airco, though very helpful, very noisy and certainly not something you keep on whilst trying to sleep. On a very personal note, I did not like the porridge. It tasted like being prepared with water and I always make it with milk, so I really found it very tasteless. The rest of the breakfast was lovely though and there was enough choice.

The beds were super comfy and the breakfast selection was great. The shower was powerful and constant (hot water almost instantly) and the views over the city are lovely at night (foggy in the day but can hardly blame the hotel for that). The location, once you get your bearings, is really good for the city, shopping centres and train station.

The taxi company the hotel use are hopeless - whether we booked the day before for the following morning (needed connecting trains every day to Cheltenham) or booked early in the same morning they didn't turn up/didn't check who the taxi was for so presumably someone else took it. The bathroom shower is over the bath and although perfectly adequate very dated. Unfortunately there were several things not in use (pool, Reception was being upgraded so not very slick and some of the other public areas) - however we were informed of this well in advance.

Room was great, 2 big doubles for us and our 2 kids (defo beats the sofa and double bed combo if you have older kids (ours are 9 and 11)), staff were excellent. Location was fab, just a short walk from everywhere. We ate in the hotel, food was good. We took a tip (from Tripadvisor, I think) to pay the extra for the executive lounge and the kids (and we loved that!) Overall, a wonderful surprise and would highly recommend. Carpark right next door.

The hotel is being renovated. It needs it! We had a room on the 9th floor, the window didn't open so we had to move - hotel managed it for us, and the second room had fresh air, air con, and a view.

I liked the cleanliness and the friendly staff. The breakfast was very good. I would recommend including the breakfast in your booking. Although I stayed there for two weeks, I never got tired of the hotel breakfast. I also liked the close proximity to the Castle park and the city centre. The hotel is also within 20-25 min walking distance to the University of Bristol, which was convenient to me. The bar has a nice seating area where I could work.

The food at the restaurant and bar were on the expensive side but maybe this is typical for the hotels in the area. For example, a cup of Americano was about 4 pounds and a vegan avocado sandwich was at least 15 pounds. (The sandwich was very nice though!) I think the food could also have more variety.

The rooms were good sizes, and we were placed in rooms next to each other as requested. Each room had its own fridge and tea making facilities, which was great - though could've done with more milk and teabags as we were staying for a couple of nights. Overall very comfortable and spacious, though rooms feel more dated than the reception lobby and bar area.

The rooms were very warm so we had to keep the air con pretty much all the time. The air con unit is quite dated and makes a lot of noise when on. We didn't have our room cleaned, which I requested as were staying for 2 nights and I didn't see the need. However we could have done with our toilet rolls, tea bags, milk etc being replenished.

Great staff, very helpful. Great location and large room with huge king size bed. Paid for upgrade to Executive Room with Executive Lounge access which offered free tea/coffee soft drinks etc all day with house wine/beer and canapés in evening between 5.30 and 8.30 pm. Bar area nice. Breakfast selection extremely good and everything you could want on offer.

Room windows don't open but thankfully air conditioning as rooms were very warm. Our signal on TV was not working and couldn't access cable TV. Room decor bit dated but large room with good bed

Fantastic view over Castle park and Bristol skyline, on the 9th Floor. Comfortable room, nice extras which helped during the stay, and the breakfast was fantastic. Staff were very helpful and friendly too. I was very happy. Great towels, linen and complimentary toiletries which was a lovely touch. Good marble sink area, plenty space for toiletries.

A/C unit in room was a bit noisy, but managed to work out how to switch off at night. Shower/bath looked a bit dated in parts, but was solid - had great pressure, and worked well. Carpet in room bit tired, could benefit from freshen. Otherwise cleanliness very good.
