We arrived at the hotel and were immediately met by very friendly staff even though they looked busy. We were shown to our room which was a lot larger than expected. We asked about booking a table to have our evening meal and again, this was not any trouble for the staff. During our meal (which was delicious) the staff were constantly checking in and interacting with our young son. Top class service and we will definitely be back soon.

The only issue we had was our room was just too warm with no way of controlling the temp on the radiators. Definitely not a deal breaker for returning though.

Easy to find,check in was straight forward, the room was lovely, the food was nice, staff where also very nice

ate in the restaurant food was lovely. ordered a child's meal that was supposed to come with sweet and a drink. we ended up having to go to the bar and ask for her sweet and was charged separately for this, she also didn't get the drink that was included. The room could do with black out curtains as the bar lights where on all night and its right on a busy roundabout. Also booked bed and breakfast but had to miss the breakfast as it wasn't served till 9.00am and we had to be on the road by 8. Feel awful mentioning all this as all in all it was a good stay and would 100% use it again

Lovely pub. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was super comfy. Had an evening meal in the pub which was delicious and the 10% off for guests a nice perk. Ample parking and private entrance for guests.

Breakfast is not included in the price. Could not opt for breakfast on booking.com and no details on page to say whether included or not. You can buy breakfast if you wish. Would just recommend it’s added on here to avoid confusion. Tv signal a little bit hit and miss. Would still return if in the area

Really comfy bed and good sized room. Loads of towels, tea & coffee, biscuits and complimentary toiletries. Great location with a bus stop directly outside to take you to Durham/Newcastle or Chester le Street. Even though it's right beside a dual carriageway we were not bothered by traffic noise.

Water pressure on shower was a bit low but I'm being picky. Couldnt pick the wifi up. Would have liked to have tried the food but stopped serving at 8.15pm

To say it was absolutely fantastic would be an under statement. The place was amazing. The staff were friendly , polite and nothing was a problem for them. The accommodation would put some 5 star hotels to shame and I have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels. The food was outstanding and presentation was excellent. I honestly can not praise the Red Lion enough and we would all stay there again without any hesitation and would advise anyone looking for somewhere to stay in that area The Red Lion is the place to stay. There was nothing to dislike everything was excellent

Great location not too far from the centre of Durham with free parking. Early check in and late check out which was a useful bonus. Friendly accommodating staff. Spacious airy room with lovely furniture and an amazing huge modern bathroom. The photos don’t do it justice. Enormous bath perfect for an indulgent soak with toiletries provided. Very comfy large bed with quality linen. Large TV with access to all channels and streaming channels. Wide breakfast menu choice cooked to order.

Road noise, but it didn’t become a problem, otherwise all good!

Absolutely amazing value for money. Stayed in a large triple room which was immaculate. The room had everything you need3d and was clean and fresh. Lovely bath and bathroom. The breakfast was genuinely amazing considering it was in with the room price and we received 10% discount on our evening meal. Staff were amazing. Genuinely couldn't find a fault.

My only reason for it not being a 10 is we could hear the front door banging when it was being shut which was annoying. A soft close hinge would make this a 10.

Back for the second time in a week as so impressed on our first visit. Was easy to book an overnight stay and at a fair price. Rooms are clean, comfortable and the bed is super comfy, we get a good nights sleep. No problems connecting to the internet. The restaurant, super impressive. At a fair price, friendly and efficient servers and the food, homemade is the best way to describe it. No microwaving and the pies are made in-house, unusual in this day and age. Highly recommend

Great location for the cricket ground. We were going to the one day International at the Riversifde.. Room was lovely, fabulous bathroom. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Had dinner the first night we were staying and the meals were excellent All of the staff we met were exceptionally friendly and helpful. .

It would have been nice if breakfast had been included in the price.

Electric points behind the bed not beside them, I use a breathing machine at night and couldn't use the machine. Smart TV was not set up Freeview channels unavailable most apps would not load staff were very good and tried to set however a lot of the problem was the very slow wi-fi could not use tablet or cell phones on wi-fi either as was too slow...
