Breakfast was a continental breakfast. This was advertised on the website so no problem. Ushaw is a great place to visit. I was a student there in the 70s when it was a catholic seminary. The seminary closed in 2011. It was empty for 2 years before re opening and is now a registered charity. It is a unique place to visit, 13 chapels, a theatre, refectory, professors parlour. If you visit try to arrange a library tour. The library has hundreds of unique and priceless books. The rooms are quite large. Great room prices. There are currently no televisions in the rooms. Again this is advertised on the website. If you really need a TV then try another place but you would be missing out on so much. The staff at Ushaw were really great. Very helpful accommodating and very knowledgeable. It was somewhat strange perhaps walking the same stone flagged corridors that I walked 49 years ago. It is a unique experience set in 500 acres of land. I have tried not to give to much away so you could discover it for yourself.

Absolutely everything. The most unique break I've ever had. We were actually a couple of friends but had separate rooms. So much to see, learnt so much and consumed by the whole stay.

Nothing to dislike. Only one thing required some attention, but this is merely due to a teething mechanical problem which was being addressed on the 2nd day of our stay and does not warrant criticism as this is their new venture of hosting as accommodation. Will certainly return, priced accordingly and staff could not be more helpful and informative on any level. Loved being able to sit and read in the pre-loved book room in the evening and then went home with several purchases. Really atmospheric walking around the huge college at night. A very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

You stay in a location of national architectural and cultural importance. You have access to areas within the college where AWN Pugin, his sons and grandsons created chapels, interiors and buildings that showcase the Gothic Revival style that rival Pugin's other creation - the House's of Parliament. You're cared for by staff who are helpful; the onsite café is comfortable and serves excellent home baking at reasonable prices. Located just minutes from Durham there's plenty to see.

Given Ushaw is a former seminary college one accepts it is a former institution and this is obvious in the accommodation area which has echoes of student residence or hostel - however I had no complaints with this but some may not be so accommodating. Ushaw is taking a bold step into the hospitality sector. By emphasizing the unique features Ushaw presents without glossing over the minimalist accommodation they will do well.

Well what can I say, apart from wow! absolutely amazing from arrival to departure! Tracey and Sam were amazing offering an extra special personal touch! Every member of staff we met greeted us with a warm welcome greeting with a smile to match. Myself and friend stayed here as we had sad circumstances to visit Langley Park! The hospitality shown was absolutely faultless! highly recommend this place for an overnight stay! Room we stayed in was immaculate warm and cosy! The beds were very comfy, comfiest hotel bed I've stayed in! The garden's and the chapels were amazing, the view's were breathtaking. Thanks for having us we are planning to bring our children in the summer! see you soon xxx

The location was great for us, just outside of Durham city, but set in the beautiful countryside. The buildings were absolutely stunning, very interesting and rammed full of history and interesting artefacts. The staff were excellent too, very friendly and helpful as well as informative and welcoming. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, despite it being very basic. No TV but that was fine with us, lovely white towels and nice comfy beds. Free Wifi in room too.

Nothing really, we really enjoyed our stay. If i did want to offer a suggestion it would be to add some savory foods on to the buffet breakfast such as cheese and/or ham, as all of the goods on offer were of the sweet variety.

Check-in (even late in the day) was easy and the rooms were super comfortable. I was really impressed with the quantity of accessible rooms available. It was a real privilege to roam the square after hours and enjoy those spaces in peace and quiet. Breakfast was a lovely selection of choices and the breakfast room had a stunning view to the gardens. The staff were all excellent. We really appreciated the opportunity to explore the exhibitions and the stunning chapels early in the morning before we left and before public opening times. It felt very special indeed. We would also like to give a big shout out and thank you to Mark whose amazing knowledge, generous time given to our conversations, and warmth made a real difference to our stay.

Breakfast was excellent in my opinion, but some travellers still might have argued choices were limited. I imagine that as this B&B offering expands, so will the breakfast buffet!

This place is amazing! You really have to see it to believe it. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The view onto the courtyard was lovely, and I personally loved the old windows. I enjoy history, and staying here allows you to step back in time. The breakfast was lovely, and so was the coffee. The Chapels and House definitely had the wow factor. It is also so peaceful here, very relaxing atmosphere which is why I will definitely be back. Also, the staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. Loved every minute here! Our room didn't have frills or needless things, which I appreciated as to enjoy the relaxation 😊 it does have really good Wi-Fi for those who can't live without it!

Everything was perfect for us.

This location was a surprise for us , our booking gave us access to the grounds and buildings within the grounds , which was an unexpected. In addition there were a number of small events taking place which we also had access to at no extra costs , although we had only booked an overnight stay we took the time to look around and discover some of the history of the location before we left . The room itself was clean , well presented and suited our needs , as was the breakfast. we also found a huge library of Second hand books which we were able to peruse and purchase any books very cheaply. there are no Tv's in the rooms but we knew of this in advance, so took a laptop , which wasn't used or needed anyway , wifi was free no password required .... We liked it here and will use it in the future as a stop over place when visiting the area again.

Breakfast was great , the location was stunning , the room whilst basic was nice , my only complaint was the lack of WIFI but it wasnt too bad as my fone worked fine so could still browse . we would def stay here again . we had stayed as we were visiting beamish Museum , it was just a 20 min drive the next morning enabling us to arrive refreshed and ready for the day ahead :)

i wasnt to keen on being unable to open the window myself as it was a really hot day and the room was quite stuffy, the lovley security guy came and opened it for us but we were then unable to close it later , my other moan was the lack of WIFI but it wasnt too bad as my fone worked fine so could still browse using 4G

It would have been comfy. Unfortunately there was a fire on that night so we spent on hour outside at fire alarm, they had two chapels burnt down. That’s not their fault of course. But they took good care of us the best they could and they were all really kind and friendly. We loved the place. And in the morning we could visit the whole place, that is outstanding.

This is a bit awkward but not that bad as it seems at the end: the entrance of the bathroom is through the shower. So when one had a shower the other cannot enter the bathroom on a dry surface. But it dry fast enough, so it is a minor issue, just a matter of getting organized. The choice at breakfast was very small, only sweet things, but good quality.
