Quiet location next to a lovely nature trail. The food was very good, particularly the breakfasts.
The Kingslodge needs a bit of tlc. A very pleasant lounge and dining area spoilt by stuffing coming out of some of the armchairs. The bedroom we were in was en suite, which was good but there was no shelf in the bathroom to put personal toiletries and insufficient places to put damp towels. Similarly there were no wall hooks to hang coats in the bedroom which was a problem on rainy days when overcoats get wet. Overall we enjoyed our stay but a little pricey considering the lack of some basic amenities.

great location. Lovely staff. friendly. by filling in a card each night saying no need to clean room I got a free glass of wine :-) no problem parking most of the food was great will stay again overall great place
I struggled with the stairs getting my luggage in. im disabled have a stick and a small dog. i was told next time to ask for help but none was offered on arrival. so I felt I might need a double room downstairs. being next to the stairs meant heard lots of people unsettled dog. initial disabled space was under trees and my car got obliterated by bird poo had to get car cleaned and emergency clean of windows as could not see out so don’t park at places nearest entrance otherwise fine wished had a few more choices on the menu like salmon and a couple of pies felt that missing otherwise good menu tasty food well priced

I love the location. It's central, but quiet too. I have stayed before when visiting my student daughter. I love that there's plenty of parking spots available . The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. Food options are good. It's a wee gem!
Closing time: "Tell me to "F" off without saying "F" off" If someone knows a better way to make customers feel they aren't welcome I don't know what that could be! From 10:00pm they were moving tables about and setting up breakfast paraphernalia. Then they were counting money in the tills loudly. Breakfast! The cereal selection did not include cornflakes! There was no orange juice left at 9:30. There was no white bread left at 9:30 There were no milk jugs on the tables, and none at the breakfast station either - I had to put milk into a glass We ordered 2 full English - one with no mushrooms. We waited ages! When they arrived, neither plate had mushrooms - they had run out! The sausages were pink. I expected them to be brown - cooked.

The location was lovely and quiet and not far to walk into the centre. Staff were pleasant and accommodating Dinner was amazing with deep fried king prawns and my partner had yummy deep fried cous cous. Had the market fish cake for the main course which was delicious. My partner had a rump steak.
Rooms are a bit tired and basic. Very clean but could do with a bit of updating. The shower wasn't great and pressure could have been a bit better however the water was hot. Room was a little overpriced if am honest. Breakfast wasn't great with my poached eggs sadly like boiled eggs.

Quiet & relaxed setting and feel about the place. Good points: Quiet position but easy access to city - 10 minute walk, ease of parking (although limited, could be an issue when very busy), Restaurant & bedroom spacious, bedroom had plenty of phone charge points, food tasty, staff pleasant, bathroom was clean.
Could do better points: Bedroom layout poor - need more table surface to place things, not least travel cases!!, Basics missing like just one hook in bathroom - for 2 bath towels, two robes...! No shelves in bathroom for toilet bag items, e.g. toothbrush, paste, shaving things, etc. Bedroom appeared clean, but smelt a bit stale - need carpet / deep cleaning. Food portions at dinner were quite minimalist. Breakfast on Thursday morning supposedly ran out of bread, fruit juice...really...?

the fact it is so brilliantly dog friendly with a fantastic woodland area at the back for a morning and evening walk. the decor was lovely and the room was very comfortable. the staff were friendly and helpful.
As with many hotels the room was a bit hot but it was ok when we opened the window. just seems a bit wasteful of energy. my husband is gluten intolerant and though we specified this and chose accordingly from the menu with reassurance and advice there was clearly some contamination as he had a reaction later that night. not a bad one as it would be with a serious gluten exposure but no one seemed able to identify what it was. It didn’t ruin the trip and breakfast was fine ,although we were concerned that one of the waiters thought the butter had gluten in it and was keen to provide margerine instead. It made us think some more staff training about food allergies might not go amiss.

Very warm, clean room. Bed was so comfortable - I slept really well. Nice, spacious dining room, tasty food. Location was quiet and very convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, excellent value for money; I will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend The Kingslodge Inn to others.
On the last night of my stay, the people in the room next to mine had a dog which barked quite a lot, although to be fair not after I'd gone to bed! I think it's nice that dogs are welcome but wonder how often other guests are disturbed by barking?

The location was perfect, a stone's throw from the centre. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and attentive to any request. The hotel itself is cosy and welcoming and not forgetting the food - which was delicious, i had the Kings Lodge burger and it was succulent and really tasty. My hubby had the Thai Mussel Broth which was excellent.
My only small quibble is that I found the bed was too hard for me and the pillows were also a bit uncomfortable. This however didn't spoil my stay at this lovely hotel.
