Location, overall cleanliness, excellent breakfast and menu selection (though a little bit pricey), view from restaurant, general ambiance, cosy bar area. Good selection of tea and coffee making choices in room. Loved the tiny old fashioned soap bars! Lots of hot water for the bath. Opening windows in room and bathroom - I am a fresh air freak!!

Rather a lot of noise first thing, not from guests. It sounded as if many wheelie bins were being moved around. This went on for some time! It woke me up early and kept me awake, unfortunately. Probably a one-off, but nevertheless disappointing. Room was lacking in natural light.

The room was well equipped and nicely decorated. Lots of storage space. The food in the restaurant was very good and generous portions. Perfectly cooked breakfast and proper bread toast. The views from the restaurant conservatory were lovely.

Our room (10) in the Annexe didn’t have net curtains and people could look straight in from both sides of the car park. We had to keep the curtains closed, which was a shame as it was nice bright room. Mugs would have been nice with the kettle rather than tea cups.

The breakfast was fantastic the staff are all good very friendly the location is good too was a lovely place to stay for the wedding at Bashal barn

As I have said previously we really liked our stay at the Calfs head and is obviously a very popular place our only negatives was our bed was not the most comfortable the other thing would be our evening meal was not as nice as we were expecting the dessert was lovely though

We needed to check-in as early as possible so we could attend a wedding. I'd emailed beforehand and the staff had gone out of their way to turn around our room so we could have access when we arrived. It was a large, well appointed room with an ensuite incorporating both a jacuzzi bath and an excellent powerful shower. It was clean and tidy, if a little care-worn, but the bed was exceptionally comfortable, with high thread count bedding and fluffy towels and they get my vote because a teapot was provided. ☺️

The hotel needs redecorating and repainting. We tried to use the bath before we went to bed, but they had obviously had a run on hot water. (There was plenty the next morning).

Quiet location but only a little way off the main road. A good place to stop if travelling across country. Good food and pleasant staff. Plenty of parking. Restaurant gets busy so worth booking in advance.

First room we were given was quite shoddy and exceptionally small. Problem was dealt with immediately and we were given a better room. Most rooms have been refurbished and very comfortable

Great location, very clean rooms, staff very friendly, and attentive, lovely service. Hearty breakfast, good ingredients well cooked. A great location. We walked in to clitheroe and got a taxi back £10. Gardens were lovely - the weather prevented us using them but I imagine on a sunny day they would be fabulous.

I liked everything - if I was to find something to feedback it would be that Bed room we had was dated and small- but that’s the character of the accommodation. Country pub.

Excellent value, comfortable room, pleasant helpful staff, amazing food. The dinner menu was quite extensive, we intended having three courses. The quality was superb, service fast, reasonable price. The portion size was enormous, too much for me and unfortunately I couldn't manage any of the sweets which looked great. Breakfast was also good, although still no appetite after the night before.

The bed was a standard size. I always prefer king-size - definitely needed in view of the size of meals.

Good service at check-in, managed to get us checked in early, which was great for us. Had lunch in the restaurant, conservatory with good view over the gardens, food lovely and service good. Reception sorted us a taxi quickly. Breakfast was nice and again service was friendly and swift.

Lovely olde worlde accommodation with lots of character. We had a winter break but I am sure outdoor areas are beautiful in the summer. Staff were all excellent and the food was delicious. Mid January and the restaurant was full in the evening. Rooms in keeping with the style of the property so no double glazing here but if you want a restful and relaxing break with beautiful walks and views they have these in abundance

Me and my partner stayed on a Sunday night it was my bday the evening meal was beautifull and plentiful I had the Sunday roast it was the best I have had my partner had the mixed grill which was huge the staff was so lovely and well comming the room was cosy the bed was comfy the breakfast was beautifull as well as the fresh coffee beautifull area and views we have rebooked for September carnt wait thankyou all so much xx
