Lovely welcoming atmosphere. All the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The room (3) was enormous with views of the river and delicious Eccles Cakes provided daily! Imaginative and tasty food, particularly breakfast with lots of different choices. A popular place for walkers. Good parking across the road from the pub.

The mattress and pillow were very firm and not particularly comfortable but that is only my personal preference. I would not let that detract from the excellent experience that we otherwise had.

We came to be near people in the area that night, the setting is just beautiful, mountains, sheep, cows views and a beautiful river flowing right across from the inn. Parking was free, the rooms were large comfortable and clean, staff were friendly and helpful, loved the large desk, kettle, and coffee tea sugar fridge etc, because we eat only kosher this was immensely helpful to us and make our stay even more easy and relaxed The inn itself is so picturesque, cosy and full of character, even though it was only one night I feel as though I have been on holiday and would definately come back if the occasion arose

Welcomed by Oliver who was exceptional in his customer service. He upgraded me to a larger room which was outstanding. The room had everything to my requirements over looking the river. The room was absolutely spotless with Tea/ coffee and water all available, even a coffee machine. The attention to detail on these rooms are fantastic. I stay in hotels 4 nights a week on business and this definitely tops all. I went down for dinner at 5pm, again served by oliver who made me feel welcome and checked back to ensure everything was good. Breakfast this morning again was fantastic with plenty of options all cooked freshly to order. The accommodation was fantastic 👏 though must point out that oliver is a credit to the business. I'll certainly be recommending and will be returning.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic country location overloking the river. Check in was easy, and met by friendly staff. The room was fantastic, and probably the comfiest bed I've slept in. Had the best nights sleep in a long time. We had evening meal in the restaurant which was very good quality, and price reasonable. Wide selection of breakfast in the morning which was freshly cooked and delicious. Fabulous stay for the price we paid, and we will definitely be back.

I wasn't keen on the hot chocolate, but that's being picky!

This lovely pub with 11 rooms is in the gorgeous village of Sawley The pub is very inviting with lovely staff Good food and a lovely selection of wine and beer are provided too The bed was very comfortable and it was a nice touch having white fluffy dressing gowns - Our bedroom had a beautiful view of the river too - Our dog loved it too - a little box of treats was provided for her Excellent breakfast too There are lovely walks straight from the pub itself with a guided pamphlet provided by the pub

I have stayed at The Spread Eagle on two occasions, once alone and once with my wife, and both times I could it an excellent and very comfortable venue. The staff are pleasant and go out of their way to be helpful, and the food is excellent.

All the bedrooms are on the first floor and there is no lift, coupled with the stairs being steep, The Spread Eagle could be difficult for people with walking difficulties. This is moderated by the staff who will happily carry luggage up and down the stairs.

Lovely quiet location even though next to a road. The river Ribble runs close by the hotel on the opposite side of the road. The staff were very good and attentive in the restaurant and bar. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cooked breakfasts as well as a selection of juices, cereals and fruit to choose from daily. The evening meals were also good being typical pub fare and a good choice too.

Décor a little dated but actually in line with the style of the inn. Not a negative but a car to travel around is essential really.

The Spread Eagle is such a lovely place to stay. We had three small dogs with us and they gave us a massive room so we had enough space. It was very warm, but the air conditioner is a great perk. Bathroom was clean and the water pressure amazing. We ate at the pub for evening meals and the breakfast provided was so delicious. Nigel and the team were so lovely and made us feel very welcome.

The location is remote, but you should know that when you book. It's so lovely and quiet too. Our room was very warm and only had the one window, but there's an air con unit to mitigate that.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was great for walking and visiting the area. The breakfasts were lovely in terms of options and cooking and we chose to eat in the pub on 2 nights, the first night in the restaurant and the second in the bar, and we'd recommend. Bedroom was comfortable, and if anything, too warm for us on the first night.

There was absolutely nothing that spoilt our stay, hence the 5* review. If I were to offer suggest a maintenance item, our room 6 was suffering from a leaking roof over the bay window,with water ingress evident on the localised decoration and with the widows being single glazed, they streamed with condensation, which gave the room a bit of a background condensation smell, which was exacerbated by the internal bathroom extract fan not working.

Location excellent. View from room 3 lovely and the room was beautifully appointed. Large bathroom. Breakfast & evening meal great quality.

Sunday lunch a disaster. I booked a surprise birthday meal for 6 people for 1pm. Firstly I was hugely disappointed the menu was the same as the previous night and not a traditional “Sunday roast”. We were told we’d booked for 12.30 and we’d arrived at 1, whereas we arrived at 12.45 and we had booked for 1!! Our order wasn’t taken until 1.35 and the food didn’t arrive until 2.30…by which time I was “discussing” the poor service with the assistant manager, who was most apologetic…unlike our ”blameless” and surly, rather rude waitress.
