The building is beautiful and my room was spacious, luxurious and well laid out. The bathroom was a great size too with a really big shower. The lighting was really soft and added to the ambience of the room. The bed - a very handsome four-poster bed - was very comfortable: high and with a firm mattress (which is my preference) and with very clean, soft comfortable bedding . The staff were friendly and helpful. There was plenty on offer for breakfast and the Full English was cooked really well. The staff were also very helpful in terms of providing additions for your room; e.g. jug of cold water, extra towels, toiletries, fan, etc. Coleford is also a beautiful location to stay in.

My room was a little noisy at night on the weekend from the pub / bar downstairs. This went on until quite late and was a bit distracting and made it hard to get to sleep early. The dinner times were a little restrictive and there were a couple of evenings when the restaurant didn't open at all and so I had to go out and get a takeaway and take it to my room to eat. Also the Wi-fi connection was very unreliable and frequently not working. When it was working the signal was usually very low / poor.

Room was fantastic; very large and very clean and full of character. Really comfortable four-poster bed. The bedding was good quality and very comfortable. Good sized bathroom too with a really large shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Coleford is a lovely location too.

The room was a bit noisy from the pub / bar downstairs. The wi-fi signal was VERY patchy and unreliable. Also there were a couple of nights during my stay when the restaurant at the hotel didn't open in the evening, which was inconvenient. Even when the restaurant was open, the times are very limited, with nothing available before 6,00pm and nothing available after 7.30pm.

The hotel was ideally located in the main market square, with two bus stops right outside. The local buses began and terminated from these stops to many of the places we wanted to visit, which was a lovely surprise for non-drivers like us. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. We started out each day with one of the filling and delicious breakfast choices. We'll be returning sometime soon to finish off our sightseeing list.

There wasn't much that we didn't like at all. One small thing was that there wasn't anywhere to put our toiletry bags. Overall, we were very happy with our room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar/pub area was traditional, warm, with a great selection of reasonably priced beers, and some very friendly locals. The food was decent and reasonably priced as well. The room was spacious, quiet (at the rear of the building), with a very comfortable bed, and the shower was powerful and hot.

Some parts of the room and hotel were a little bit tired and in need of some TLC. The bedside lights in our room didn't work, and some patches of wallpaper were damaged or peeling, for example. The breakfast was a bit small, but was good quality. Very minor things overall, and would happily stay again.

Full cooked English breakfast with juice, decaf coffee as requested, hot crispy toast: one of the best we had, great hashbrowns and mushrooms Room was spacious, 4 poster bed, clean, airy and bright with full length windows which opened onto a small balcony: balcony faced square, roads and shop, so not really scenic. Good ensuite shower. Generous tea & coffee making facilities, AND a floor standing fan which was lovely in the hot weather. Thank you! Bed was comfortable. We requested a quiet room, and though our room 103 overlooked the main square and there was a live band in the bar just downstairs, we were surprisingly not at all disturbed. A lovely one night stay.

Good location to access walks and visit places of interest near Wye Valley. Lovely place to stay, comfortable bed and clean rooms. Fairly good breakfast cooked to order, though limited to what you order. Provided vegetarian sausages as requested. Welcoming staff.0000

Carparking was not on site as expected, had to walk a little short distance, which was a bit disappointing, as it was raining. Also no wifi in room, even though they gave you a code, it didn't work on any devices like laptop/ipad. Very poor signal in the room. Price was a bit too much for a weekday stay and for the limited access to parking and wifi. Though rooms were quite nice and spacious.

The hotel & pub is beautiful, the floors are a bit warped due to age but they just add to the character and charm. The breakfast was quick and delicious, the staff were super helpful and friendly, the food at the pub was unbelievable- highly recommend the steak & ale pie! Really appreciated the decaf tea & coffee in the room, not many places have both.

The bed frame was a bit dangerous, we both smashed our shins off it and had to build a barrier around it to prevent further injuries. The bathroom was a bit dated, and the shower was a bit temperamental with the hot water but overall did the job.

The staff / owners - nothing too much trouble, breakfast excellent- my veggie breakfast was outstanding. Friendly Forest of Dean folk in pub- will pop in if I'm in Coleford again just for a pint. Building old and quirky - very stylish reception area we liked it very much. Very comfortable room with LOTS OF TEA AND MILK hurray! Great position for the forest - bus stop outside.

I suppose I'm not a great fan of ordering breakfast the night before and also giving time you will be down. Would prefer to come down when ready and order what I fancy at time- but I get how it works for two people to run it smoothly. It was a little noisy from the Square late on- I was woken up around 2.00 pm BUT it was a Saturday night and I soon went back to sleep and hey I was young once!

The en-suite bathroom was bigger than our bathroom at home! The bed was firm and comfortable. The breakfast was scrumptious and just right to set us up for the day. The hotel staff coped with our food intolerances cheerfully and efficiently The free wifi was good enough for what we were doing. The manager very helpfully advised us on where to park during our stay.

It would have helped if the curtains were darker or heavier to shut out more light because the street lights were very bright.

Comfy bed, excellent Breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.

Room was a bit tired looking, facilities were great it just made it seem unloved because of the furniture , carpet and some of the walls/skirting needed a good clean. The curtains in room 202 need to be blackout as a street light is right outside so room wasn't dark, My daughter stayed in Room 203 and she loved it and had no negative comments, unfortunately I own a cleaning business so I see things others prob turn a blind eye too. I will add that for the price and the comfort of the bed and the delicious breakfast i still would definitely stay here again
