Almost all of the staff were lovely and enjoyed our stay

Housekeeping was very rude on checkout day. We were going down for breakfast 10:15am and does not finish till 11am and checkout noon. She shouted up the corridor saying she wanted to clean the room I told her we were having breakfast then would be back to room to remove out belongings well before checkout, she was not happy with that response! Really put a dampener on what had been a good stay.

The rooms and the public areas were lovely, much better than we anticipated. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We didn’t have any food as we were really only having an overnight sleepover on route to the airport. Because it was last minute and the fringe was on, this was all we could get, but it was great and would recommend.

Situated on the university campus it was hard to find even with a sat nav and even more difficult to find a route to the airport. We were taken down lots of tiny country lanes and were panicking. We were a bit late but we got there.

This is an all round great hotel. We had a really warm welcome on reception I forget her name began with a T she’s a student at the uni. She answered all of our questions about the area beautifully and made sure my Husband had his birthday recognised by giving us some ice cream a lovely touch that was greatly appreciated. The rooms are clean and fresh, public areas the same. Breakfast was great full of choice (although soggy hash browns, sorry!) Location wise, ideal for us we were visiting for the city centre and an Uber was £12-15, black cab £20 in the night. The ride out was worth the saving on the hotel and parking (which was free and very spacious).

Loved the decor, very stylish hotel, staff very friendly and polite. Room and facilities were great, bed was comfy and no trouble sleeping. TV channel offering excellent considering most hotels offer minimal channels.

Not so much we didn’t like but just some areas to review. Large brown stain under one side table, very visible when you first walk in so effects first impression. Would be beneficial to have more sugar, tea, coffee provided in room.

This was the second time staying at this hotel. Last year we'd managed to get a deal through Itison but sadly not available this year. However we were so impressed last time with the standard of the rooms and catering, plus the ease of travel to the city, we booked again. My daughter is vegan and she was very impressed by the breakfast options. Staff generally very polite and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Minor issues only. One of the mugs in the room not clean so had to go down to restaurant for another and the shower gel had run out, it was not refilled despite asking housekeeping but not a big deal as I had my own. One of the coffee machines is a bit temperamental, same last year I recall.

ok. first this is an economy Marriott so must be judged in the same category as Hampton by Hilton, Doubletree etc. Good value for money. It is very modern in a soul-less kind of way but staff were brilliant without exception. Rooms very comfortable with functional bathrooms. We chose to stay there as we were visiting our grandson on campus but the bus service to the centre of Edinburgh is excellent so worth considering for anyone unwilling to pay central city prices. Although the menu made my gluten free heart sink (we had driven hundreds of miles so were not going anywhere else to eat) the food I chose was actually rather good.

The only truly terrible feature in the rooms is the toilet paper which is simply not fit for purpose. We bought our own. Dining area plastic, not hugely comfortable and prone to drafts from multiple doors.

The staff were really helpful, polite and friendly. We requested a quiet room and got it. The room was comfortable and we didn't hear any noise from adjacent rooms or in the corridor. Loved the quality of the shampoo, shower gel and conditioner provided. Breakfast was ok.

Carpet stain on the floor in the room. Nasty stains on some of the soft furnishing in the reception/lounge/dining area. Understand that there is a refurb but wouldn't take much to clean off stains.

We stayed in a Superior Double Room for two nights. It was absolutely stunning location for a relaxed break. They have a jogging tack or you can go for a pleasant walk. The staff was really helpful, i assume they had a lot of students working there from the next door University but they were all well supervised and trained. The bar had excellent drinks. Our room was the super star - we could look into the trees while taking a shower!!, was so relaxing!!

Staff friendliness

Location when booking through booking. Com I requested hotels in edinburgh City Centre, did not realise until I reached the destination that the hotel was on a university campus site, if I had known that I would have changed Location booking. Com should have been more specific and stated that as last year stayed at the courtyard marriott in the city centre of Edinburgh which was more ideal for us. So not happy with booking. Com

Although some reviews are negative about the location, we found it was ideal. Set in a lovely quiet part of the City with very close bus links to the Centre. The hotel was very clean and did not feel packed or noisy like many in the city centre would. In actual fact it was very peaceful, with little to no noise at all. The rooms are very spacious with a comfy bed and nice facilities MZ The communal areas were very well furnished and never felt over crowded, the World Cup games were shown creating a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was nice, always topped up, no waiting around for toast either or coffee. :) Parking was a great addition, as it meant my car was close by and secure. On an evening we found the city centre was approx 20mins subject to traffic. The staff were all very friendly and always willing to help. Matthew in particular was very welcoming and really was very helpful.
