The room was excellent (and met prior expectations) despite the relative proximity of the M8 and M9 motorways, a railway line and the airport- we had 3 excellent nights sleep. The breakfast was good with a wide range of food etc. With one exception the staff went out of their way to be helpful- very good customer service which is hard to find these days. The grounds were well maintained and stocked with a variety of plants etc

Although there was a seating area in the bar and outside there was a lack of comfortable lounge areas- the one provided amounted to about a dozen seats. The emphasis appeared to be based on making maximum money return by provision of seating in areas where you could be asked to buy drink or food. Also there was one member of staff who treated us unfairly(in our view of course) when it was a simple case of us not having been informed of what was expected of us- he could have been more polite and respectful- he should be reminded of how to treat customers who pay his salary at the end of the day.

Our stay at Norton House formed the last part of our honeymoon, we were so pleased we booked in here as it was amazing. Check in was quick and easy, we upgraded our room after the first night for the remainder of our stay and I must say the room was so spacious, clean and comfortable, the upper shower was the best ever. Spa treatments my wife and I had were excellent. The food in the main restaurant was also amazing, I am a bit of a food snob and like everything to be perfect and we were not disappointed (if you like steak, try the ribeye, one of the best I've ever had). All the staff were very friendly and helpful and in particular I must mention Stephanie, our waitress in the restaurant, so nice and helpful. We will definitely be returning to this hotel again next year.

There was nothing we didn't like about the hotel, room or service.

This hotel was really exceptional--and I travel a lot. The service was great, the dinners were extraordinary (we ate there the first night and booked the prix fixe the second night, and it was fantastic. One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The pool/spa was clean and welcoming and I took advantage of all of the water and steam options. The gym was great too.

It wasn't close to Edinburgh center so we had to take an Uber to go back and forth, but that was fine with us. The food was so good I may have gained a pound or two. No other complaints. ;)

Staff : went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. After travelling for over 24hrs and landing at 6am the team were able to have our room ready which we were eternally grateful for. We also had a cancelled flight the next morning and there was no problem to book the same room again. (we were lucky enough not to be travelling in peak times for this availability) Food : both breakfast and dinners were fabulous. SPA : I had both facial and massage and they were bliss

We liked everything.

Unfortunately, our airline had to rebook our tickets so we didn't get to stay as long as we would have liked. We had to leave really early in the morning but the staff had a take-away breakfast packed for us and arrange our taxi to the airport. The location was beautiful, we loved the old building, dinner was delicious and we loved the lounge area near the restaurant for evening drinks (whisky!) and dessert (strawberries and cream like I've never had before!!)

We tried to use as many of the accommodations as possible, the pool and hot tub were lovely, just wish we had more time and could have enjoyed the breakfast - so really nothing we can say from our short stay!

Room was a good size, well furnished , good A/C, property was really pretty, lunch menu was good, Check in/out easy and fast. Front desk staff was very friendly and accomadating.

A bit out of the way to go into Edinburgh but not terrible. The wait to have our order taken, receive a dessert menu and receive our bill for lunch was a bit long. For the several staff members we saw and how not busy dining was it was odd they took so long to do these things.

The hotel is close to Edinburgh city centre, but because of the extensive grounds, it feels like being in the middle of the country. The hotel is beautiful and we were very happy with our accommodation. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, if a bit expensive.

Not much could have been better really, but one morning, my breakfast was very late coming out and I had to ask a server to chase it up. When it came out, the poached eggs were hard and warm but not hot. A small point amidst a lovely two night stay.

Lovely building, great relaxing way to start a trip from Edinburgh airport. Swimming pool, steam room & sauna were great. Dinner is Brasserie was very good Staff friendly, chatty & helpful

While art is always going to subjective I wonder if the very large painting of a nude in the bedroom was entirely appropriate (we felt not). This not really a don’t like but hopefully helpful. While the dinner was lovely, the options for vegetarians were a bit limited. Those options could easily have been extended - a vegetable soup was not vegetarian, pasta dishes were also not vegetarian (because of cheese?). And finally vegetarians need protein in there meals! Having said this I want to emphasise we really enjoyed our dinner - but not sure we could have found different options if we had been staying 2 nights.

The room, food and staff at this Hotel are excellent . A Special mention to the waiters in the bar and restaurant, very friendly, they created a lovely comfortable ambience.

The layout of the rooms, the additions to the original building create a maze of corridors and lifts. Luckily we stayed two night's so by the time we left we had sorted it out. We had expected a room in an historic building which is the impression given by pictures on booking.com and the Hotels website. A little close to the airport for my liking aircraft noise audible in room, thankfully due to covid not the usual number of flights each day.

Lovely breakfast, the choices on the "a la carte" menu were a nice addition. Lovely decorated rooms. We had a room which had direct access to the green spaces surrouding the hotel. The bathroom was clean and good quality toiletries provided. The SPA is very clean and accomodating.

SPA opening hours are a constraint when you visit all day and want to relax after a long day wandering in or around the city. Staff a little bit bored, except for one Romanian cleaning lady (do not know the name) who was so nice and chatted with us in a friendly and polite way.
