Lovely setting. Staff very friendly and helpful, and Porter actually refused a tip! One of our party had a sudden family bereavement the day we arrived and staff were patient, understanding and helpful in cancelling one of the 3 rooms we had booked and one of the treatments at no cost.

Lunch and evening meal were just ok so we were a bit disappointed. Menu unclear about suitability of food for vegetarians/vegans. And when asked, staff didn’t know either, although they were happy to check with kitchen. Staff also unsure re ingredients of other items on menu. To be fair I think they said it was a new menu they weren’t familiar with. I had a Salt and oil scrub in spa and think 25 minutes was not enough time for the therapist to do a thorough job or for me to relax. Other friends felt the same about their 25 minute treatments. I think £60 for 25 minutes is quite dear. Disappointed that spa building was short walk away from main hotel building.

My room was great and I always love having a robe. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the young man who took us to our rooms, carrying a whole lot of our baggage. I loved the swing under the big tree on the grounds. The grounds were lovely and it felt like we were staying in a park.

One of the reasons I reserved here was so that my adult grandchildren could use the pool and hot tub that evening. They took the long walk in the rain to the spa building and found it locked. My 16 year old grandson used the pool briefly earlier but was disappointed that it was shallow and crowded. It wasn't the experience I had hoped for.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Breakfast was excellent. Rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious. room was clean and comfortable.

Single track access road from The Glasgow road wasn't ideal, too narrow and too few passing places. The access road at the spa end of the complex was better, but could be widened in places to improve it. Despite plenty of signs, the hotel is like a rabbit warren and it took time to remember the way to our room! The first lift seemed only to go from 2 to 1, might be good to have a note explaining that you couldn't get a lift to go directly from 2 to 0.

Property was lovely and spa facilities were excellent. All staff we met were very friendly but professional and nothing seemed too much for them to do. Breakfasts each day were really good with a very wide choice of continental, cooked from the hot buffet or from the a la carte breakfast menu. Dinners were also very good, and the steak was perfectly cooked when asked for 'rare' which is a rare situation! Also, one of us was vegan and the hotel were very accommodating, be it in the room with non-dairy milk substitute and even a whole pack of vegan-friendly biscuits, or having a good vegan choice on the breakfast and dinner menus and researching whether wines were vegan, too.

The weather, but even the accommodating staff couldn't change that!

Breakfast and dinner was amazing, great options especially when it was the buffet! The room was lovely, great views and very clean. The spa facilities were really nice too, and I loved that wellies were provided at reception for people to be able to go out for walks in the surrounding areas.

Staff were friendly on the most part but of the front desk staff were a little hostile which really wasn't great for being front of house. The spa was lovely but wasn't expecting to have to walk outside to get there, that was a bit of a dislike especially when you want to be able to go in your robe straight from your hotel room. Also a small change I would have showers in the bathrooms rather than just shower heads in a bathtub.

Very comfortable room. Delicious food - really enjoyed our evening meal, stands up as a proper restaurant (which often hotels don't). Very dog friendly place. Staff were great. Shower and bathroom were great, love having a tv in the bath, really indulgent! Breakfast was excellent.

Dog friendly dining area is the lounge, which was comfortable but very low sofa seating which is not great for dining.

The room was excellent (and met prior expectations) despite the relative proximity of the M8 and M9 motorways, a railway line and the airport- we had 3 excellent nights sleep. The breakfast was good with a wide range of food etc. With one exception the staff went out of their way to be helpful- very good customer service which is hard to find these days. The grounds were well maintained and stocked with a variety of plants etc

Although there was a seating area in the bar and outside there was a lack of comfortable lounge areas- the one provided amounted to about a dozen seats. The emphasis appeared to be based on making maximum money return by provision of seating in areas where you could be asked to buy drink or food. Also there was one member of staff who treated us unfairly(in our view of course) when it was a simple case of us not having been informed of what was expected of us- he could have been more polite and respectful- he should be reminded of how to treat customers who pay his salary at the end of the day.

The facilities were incredible - the spa, hotel restaurant (some of the best food I had whilst in Scotland), the bed linens, the grounds (which had endless woods/trails/beautiful peaceful walks/runs to do), and the bespoke catering to support me having my two small dogs with me. I will be going back!

Nothing - all was incredible.

Our stay at Norton House formed the last part of our honeymoon, we were so pleased we booked in here as it was amazing. Check in was quick and easy, we upgraded our room after the first night for the remainder of our stay and I must say the room was so spacious, clean and comfortable, the upper shower was the best ever. Spa treatments my wife and I had were excellent. The food in the main restaurant was also amazing, I am a bit of a food snob and like everything to be perfect and we were not disappointed (if you like steak, try the ribeye, one of the best I've ever had). All the staff were very friendly and helpful and in particular I must mention Stephanie, our waitress in the restaurant, so nice and helpful. We will definitely be returning to this hotel again next year.

There was nothing we didn't like about the hotel, room or service.

Here is an enhanced version of your review: "The landscape and location of the hotel were picturesque, complemented by a very pleasant and helpful staff. Our experience surpassed expectations for a 4-star hotel. The dinner served was delicious, and the omelet was truly the best we have ever tried. This historic countryside hotel exudes beauty and coziness, providing a delightful stay." We even extended our stay 3 nights more.
