Location was excellent. Lovely, cosy hotel foyer, very clean with comfortable seating and complimentary flavoured drinks, fruit etc. Complimentary wine and chocolate was a nice touch in room. Excellent gym.

Weather was very warm during our stay, and we had ongoing issues with air conditioning. Would have liked to be able to open the room windows, even a small bit - safety latches may be a suggestion to at least allow for some airflow. When air con did work, seemingly after some time it automatically switches off which wasn’t ideal. Room was very stuffy, - a fan was delivered to the room but it just wasn’t the same.

The location was good, relatively close to the Waverly Train Station, and the Tram line to the Airport. Our room had an amazing view of the public monuments on the hill to the north. The back of the hotel is also directly accessible through a closie to the Royal Mile. Breakfasts were great and staff consistently accommodating and helpful. (Go with all five choices that you can add to the individually made omelets.)

There was nothing to dislike about the hotel.

The room was a good size and very comfortable. The hotel was very central to the railway station and tour buses as well as the main shopping area.

The view out of my window was the worst I have ever had in any hotel (and I stay in a lot of hotels). The hotel wasn't full so I'm sure I could have been put somewhere nicer. There seems to be a trend to give people on their own the worst hotel rooms and the worst tables in restaurants and it's a little disheartening. The staff were pleasant and well meaning but they have no experience of dealing with deaf people like me so I couldn't hear anything they said.

Loved the facilities in the room. Wifi was a breeze to connect and the best part was connecting with TV - took less than a minute to connect my phone to it and play/stream any content. All other amenities in the room and washroom were top-notch! The station is barely a 3 min walk. We had a train to catch at 6:23AM and we were outside our coach in barely 6-7 mins from the hotel door.

If I'm being nit-picky, I think the walls/door allowed too much external noise (from neighbouring rooms). I could hear other folks chatting and then a guy snoring later. The cupboard can definitely use some lighting around it.

The room was very nice, a big room with view to Calton Hill and Waverley Station. Also the bathroom was a big one and modern equipment and fittings. The breakfast was delicious, with a large selection, also of fruits, toast, cereal etc. The staff also took care of the guests at breakfast, as it is a large room and mostly many guests. The location is very good, very close to Waverley Station also to walk up to the Royal Mile or a few minutes longer to Princes Street, where the tram station is to the airport or the bus routes and stations.

Unfortunately the water in the shower wasn`t really warm every day. Happens in Scotland or UK, I know, but this time it was a bit too cold for me. But to endure.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Prosecco on arrival, plentiful fruit and biscuits if needed. The hotel was clean and comfortable ,and had a feeling of luxury which I loved . I noticed a list on the wall of those little things one may forget to pack, which were available if you phoned reception, which was a nice touch although I didn't try it out . Beds were comfortable and we all slept well. We particularly liked the kettle and biscuits etc provided and the small...and more importantly , quiet , fridge in the room. I have stayed in places which provide a fridge in the room, which unfortunately hums so loudly one cannot sleep.

The temperature in the room which we all found too hot and not particularly adjustable. We could have done with a few extra coat hangers, especially as there were three of us sharing.

Location couldn't be better. Hotel staff were all lovely. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

It's a pity breakfast isn't slightly before 7am on weekends so we wasted our money by booking breakfast as we had to leave for the airport at 7 and breakfast was only just starting. That's just an observation though. Hotel has 0 sound proofing so obnoxiously loud guests kept us awake banging on doors and shouting at each other on the Sunday morning at 3am. On the Saturday an alarm sound was beeping when we got to the hotel at 6pm we left to go out again after 7pm and it was still beeping and when we returned after 11pm I had to go downstairs and find a staff member to sort it out. 5hrs of it being ignored and yet this gent managed to shut it off within minutes. It turned out to be an AC unit in another room. That will tell you how thin the walls are.

The location was great for visiting Edinburgh as a tourist. The hotel is located at the base of the main historical high street area about midway between the Castle and the Palace and there is a "Close" (alley between buildings) that leads directly to the high street from the hotel lobby area. It was convenient to all the tourist things we wanted to do. Access to the train station is a very short walk. The hotel bar was a nice place to relax at the end of a long day. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable.

There is major construction going on directly behind the hotel. They started work weekdays at 8am. The "Close" that provides the most convenient access to the high street area is grungy. And the street approach to the hotel is not very appealing: sidewalks in disrepair, dumpsters on the sidewalks, etc. I was concerned that I made a major mistake booking here when we first arrived, but was won over by the hotel and location.

Location - very reasonable to get taxi from airport and very close to Royal Mile - could access via steps behind hotel . Room was fine for what we needed as we didn't spend much time there other than sleep. Also we could walk to the restaurants we had booked each night and area seemed very safe to walk around. The breakfast was good and staff in general friendly and chatty and interested in your day. Left luggage facility was excellent and reception booked a taxi back to the airport for us no problem.

Only downside we backed on to building works and noise started 8.00am so not comfortable for lie-in. Also on first morning restaurant had no record of our breakfast booking even though I confirmed it at check-in. We felt lady at breakfast check in was somewhat unhelpful. We went back to main reception and they sorted it with vouchers - systems not talking to one another apparently! After that everything was fine
