The staff were excellent. The concierge went above and beyond his duties. I arrived at Gatwick Airport during a London Rail Strike which placed pressures on the Bus Service and Taxi Service. I was unable to get to Heathrow where I had a booked pre-paid bus to Cheltenham. I missed the bus, and found the only alternative was to stay the night at the Sofitel, if they had a room for me. Fortunately they did. The concierge personally went to the National Express Bus Office to check if I could get a ticket for the following day, which was possible, and he personally escorted me to the office to purchase a ticket for the following day. I have never received such excellent service and help in a difficult situation. Wendy Howard.

Absolutely nothing at all.

Location is excellent for the North Terminal. Rooms were a really good size, they were well appointed and the view of airport very good. Bed was very comfortable. Lifts easy to call with not much waiting and eating out options varied in choice and price. Food we had at La Brasserie was very good and the service was excellent. (Some reviews were at variance with our findings as we found the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive)

The overall size of the hotel could be initially daunting to some but you do easily adjust to the surroundings and it's an impressive build. It would be helpful for guests at check in to be told that you need to use your room key prior to allocating your floor level when using the lift. Lifts may be tricky for anyone with vertigo. We were told there was a £25 charge for overnight parking but it was in fact £38 and the car park exit channel is manageable but tricky for a large vehicle. There could be improved advertising of the long stay car parking facilities.

We had inter-connecting rooms as a family (our children are 5 and 7) and we really liked this. The shower was great. It's a short shuttle to the South Terminal and the shuttle is 24hrs. If you're flying from the North terminal it's even easier as the hotel is at the terminal.

I found it difficult to understand the restaurant set up in advance of arriving at the hotel. It turns out that there are three restaurants and Vivre is the family-friendly one to the extent that helps other guests. Our meal at Vivre was a comedy of errors, wrong items sent (including a dish containing ham for me and I'm a veggie) and missing items but the service was lovely and they did their best! We got through it because the wine was good. The hotel needs more than two lifts. There were long wait times even at 4:30am!

Brilliant value for what you pay. Rooms are furnished to a high standard, beds were extremely comfortable and it couldn’t really be in a more convenient location - a direct walkway tunnel between the hotel lobby, straight into the north terminal departures. Super convenient for our (very) early morning flight, especially with a young child, and my daughter absolutely loved being able to see the flights landing and taking off from the room. Staff were lovely, the Chinese restaurant was also good quality. I’m extremely fussy when it comes to hotels and this one exceeded expectations for what was meant to just be a convenient brief overnight stay.

Nothing - it was perfect for what we needed!

The Sofitel hotel was a 5 min walk from the North Terminal under a covered walkway. The hotel itself was extremely clean and the staff were pleasant and professional. The room was lovely, it was very clean with an extremely comfortable bed. It was also very quiet in the room which was great. On arrival we had a pleasant surprise in that we were upgraded and were given complimentary access to the lounge. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

The website was a little misleading around menus for the restaurants but that said we had a very nice meal at the hotel.

Excellent location for travelling from the North Terminal! My kids loved what they called the "fluffy cloud" bed in our junior suite, more than enough space for the 5 of us, very clean and comfortable for the most part. The staff were lovely, especially fun, friendly and efficient at the bar. The food at the restaurant smelt delicious, but we'd already eaten, so we didn't get to try it - will definitely stay again, so will do next time.

The mattress on the sofa bed wasnt supportive, woke up with back ache. You have to bite the coffee sachets to open them - my mum has severe arthritis and couldnt open them by hand and I was shocked when I couldnt either. No option provided to safely take drinks outside to the smoking area.

We loved the location at the north terminal. It was so lovely to be able to relax in the hotel before our arduous international flight the next day. The bed was luxurious and we had a great sleep.

Nothing really, just a couple of small things like the lower lift being out of order and the porter having to help lots of people take luggage up the escalator so that he wasn’t available to meet us at the door. There wasn’t a clear sign at the entrance as to where the reception was when we drove up in our car either. Also, the hair conditioner bottle was empty in the shower. Just a small thing but when you are paying good dollars that shouldn’t happen.

Clean and comfortable rooms, nice toiletries. We also LOVED the Asian restaurant, it was AMAZING!

The foyer/bar area didn’t have a nice atmosphere at all, it felt like sitting in the middle of a brightly lit shopping centre. The hospitality staff also reflected this - they were a little undertrained/inexperienced- I suspect that they are also on min wage so alas you do get what you pay for. The drinks were priced as I would expect for a hotel of this price and location so I was disappointed to see that cocktails were pre-made in bottles and there wasn’t really an option to sit at the bar anywhere so it felt more like a Wetherspoons than a 4 star hotel.

This was my first time staying at an airport hotel, and I wasn't expecting it to feel so special. Beautiful lobby area with restaurants, high elevator that took us to floor 6, a nice clean room, and more importantly, a beautiful bathroom. The bed was as soft as a marshmallow that you would still be sinking into it minutes after laying yourself down. I didn't hear a single plane, so very well soundproofed. And the fact that the hotel is literally at the hotel just makes it so worth it. Better to pay more to stay at this hotel and already be at the hotel than to stay at a cheaper hotel some distance away and pay extra in transport to get to the hotel. An amazing stay!!!

Upon check out, my partner and I were paying for the food that we'd put on the room for our visit to the restaurant to find that the bill was quite a bit higher than we'd calculated ourselves. It seems as though another guest had attempted to bill our room for food they had from the restaurant, and the staff members had failed to check the name and signature on the receipt to the room number. This caused us to have to stand at reception for quite a long time with our heavy bags when we should have ideally been making our way into the airport. As the staff scrambled to find this fraudulent receipt, a line was forming behind us. Although they did take off that charge, it just wasn't a nice way to end the stay at the hotel.
