Brilliant find. Friendly and efficient service, very good food and drink, Especially Malt choices. Good atmosphere, nice lounge area and met some great guests. Easy to park. Good shower and wifi access. Quiet night and comfortable bed. I had small room 3 with sliding door but worked for me and it was nicely decorated. No where for me to easily work at a desk in the room but could have gone down to the lounge. Great value for money and want to return with my wife one day

Only the view from the front but it is working dock with full size cruise ships visiting so what would you expect?

The Ship Inn is a charming pub and hotel. We stayed in the Global Suite- we had a lot of bags with us and needed space to sort of stretch out. We were not disappointed! It was a fantastic room, with a private entrance and a big comfortable bed, which, although a little wonky on one side of the mattress, did not hamper my ability to get a good night's sleep. Lots of space for everything, and a lot of helpful items in the room, including a little fold-out desk which was super helpful as I had to do some work on the laptop whilst there! The bathroom was fantastic, with a waterfall shower and a huge bathtub. The pub also has a good menu and the breakfast was copious and the little breakfast area is nice with a sweet outside area as well. Everyone was lovely and helpful as well!

The breakfast was great. Wonderful and friendly staff asked what we wishes each morning and it was cooked and served up in good time. Great quality. The accommodation was central to our requirements due to the varying areas we wishes to visit We had a number of evening meals in the front restaurant and each was beautifully presented and flavoursome.

I think the breakfast dining room and back outside space would benefit from an upgrade but it was still acceptable.

The staff were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious 😋.

The room was quite small with the small fridge jutting out into the path to the bathroom. Due to the size of the room there was no chair so one had to use the bed which was very low in order to put socks & shoes on. Room should probably be designed as a single not a double. The sliding doors to both the bathroom and room were quite stiff. The shower needed directions on how to turn on but once on gave a terrific shower.

The Ship Inn was charming as was our garden room. We did think that being an inn that we would be able to settle into the bar after a really long day of driving and have a drink or two before or after dinner but that didn't seem to be the case on the night we stayed but the restaurant was available and we were most impressed with the menu, innovative with an asian twist - the meals were really good, well done to the chef. Our room was spacious and welcoming and it was a bonus to be next to the garden with its fruit trees and flowers. There was nothing we didn't like but just a comment to our hosts about the step that connected our sitting room and access to the garden to the bedroom - the step down (or up) was quite high and you had to be aware of it or as happened to one of us you came down the wrong way and jarred your foot...a small ramp maybe a better option. All the same it was a lovely room.

Breakfast was cooked to order which, in my opinion, is far better than buffet style. Location was perfect as right accross the road from the Port Authority, where I was due to visit the following day. When asked if I wanted to book a meal I was told the food was good. Not only was the food good it was excellent. On first view I though the menu to be a bit pricey but my view soon changed when the food came. All I can say the Haggis pakora starter was to die for.

My double room was quite small but perfectly OK for a 1 night business trip. If you were staying a few nights, and there were 2 of you, it might be a bit cramped. However that was only my room.

Rooms were all nice and had their qualities about them, facilities were good and presentation of the amenities was enjoyable to see. Had access to a shared room with comfy chairs and settees which our group used to watch some sports and have a few drinks. Food was genuinely amazing on the evening, we had Mac and cheese and the Stoltman burger and both of them were amazing quality and taste. Breakfast was also great, buffet style so no matter how much you like to eat you can always get more.

Global Suite has a strange shower design. It uses a rain shower head which was nice (just not as clean as you’d like) which is fixed to the ceiling but you’re in a bathtub and it has a gap between the wall and the tub meaning while showering water is falling onto the floor. The location isn’t really to write home about, but once inside the property you don’t notice it. Pillows looked plump but ended up being rather flat.

The staff were fantastic, really welcoming and helpful. The rooms were a good size and being able to open the windows meant it didn't get too hot. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and catered really well for both the vegetarian and vegan in our group. In fact, we got a text earlier in the day asking if we were wanting to eat and the response about eating preferences came back straight away so we felt confident we would all have a nice meal. The highlight for me was the porridge at breakfast which was delicious! The seagulls are a bit noisy but theres not a lot anyone can do about that! We also had time for a wander around the town and discovered their mural trail which was fantastic too. All in all, a great stay.

The location was great and the breakfast was excellent. The shared bathroom I was concerned about, but it was not an issue. Plenty of time in the morning to shower and get ready before breakfast.

Some damage to the room from previous tenants but we notified the reception once we noticed.

The Ship Inn was our first overnight stop on our NC500 adventure. Lovely hotel with fabulous, friendly staff. Stayed in Nigg suite with our dog. Spacious, spotless and comfortable with small garden. Lovely evening meal and breakfast where our dog was welcome to dine with us. She also got a scottish breakfast. Great start to our trip. Thank you Ship Inn
